Pippo Inzaghi - Football's MOST MISUNDERSTOOD Striker
Вставка
- Опубліковано 13 кві 2022
- Pippo Inzaghi was often criticized for his lack of footballing skills by the likes of Johan Cruyff, and even, many of his team mates, and to be fair...they weren’t wrong. In fact, You’d be hard pressed to find a moment of technical brilliance from Pippo Inzaghi.
Which begs the question: How did Pippo Inzaghi score so many goals? And how did he end up being a European & World Champion with appalling lack of football skills?
#ItalianFootball #SerieA #ForzaMilan
Well...to answer that, we need to go back...way back to when he was born.
Rumor has it that Pippo Inzaghi was born in offside. Bothering linesmen would be a running theme throughout Inzaghi’s career, to the point that people often forget...just how good he REALLY was.
During his first ever international call up, Inzaghi's new team-mates were SHOCKED by Inzaghi’s lack of technical ability.
Pippo Inzaghi's game was purely on passion and intelligence. The two qualities that didn’t let him down.
Pippo Inzaghi couldn’t dribble, nor make a simple long pass, but desire, determination, and extremely intelligent movement were his tools of scoring.
And boy did he score. 70 in Europe, and 197 goals in Serie A... against some of the fiercest defenders in the world. Not bad for someone who couldn’t play football to save his LIFE !!!
In a career that saw him play for Juventus, and Milan, he because a Champions League winner, against his former teammates in 2003, and scored a brace against Liverpool in 2007 Champions League final.
Pippo Inzaghi also became a World Cup winner in 2006.
Pippo Inzaghi burst into the scene as a hated ‘lucky’ goalscorer, but retired as a legend of the game without any regrets, and with his head held high.
There’s a reason why such a technically limited footballer is idolized by millions of fans and respected by everyone else...It was his drive...It was his passion. And it was his unmatched intelligence in the box
It’ll be interesting if we’ll see another kind of Pippo Inzaghi succeed in the modern football.
But one thing’s for sure...Pippo Inzaghi’s career is criminally underrated and misunderstood.

Fifa Made a lot of our Younger generation Disrespect and Underrate Just How clinical Inzaghi was
Yeah I agree. Unfortunately, video games cannot quantify the qualities of certain players like Pippo Inzaghi, such as the awareness, and the sense of being at the right place at the right time.
Thank you for the comments. Always a pleasure reading them on my videos 🙏🙏
In pes mobile I have inzaghi
I hated him when I got him bcoz he is a gold ball and 91 max
But man, when I deployed him on the field someway somehow he was at the right place to score goals
Seriously telling, sub him in the second half in pes
He is a different kind of beast
He doesn't even feel like gold ball 91 max, he feels like 100
In pes ( he has super sub skill in ped) if u tell me to select a sub who is gonna play for the second half, without a second thought
I will choose no messi, no cr7, no Zlatan
I will just choose pippo inzaghi
( I don't about him at fifa, since I never got to play with him)
@@FootballDrawn now he the main character in blue lock izaghi=inzaghi💥
As a Liverpool fan I was victim to inzaghi clinical finishing. The iconic goal poacher.
Hey Joe...Yeah, that was a good night for us, but I would still swap it with the miracle of Istanbul. You guys won the more memorable of the 2 finals 😀😀
Thank you for the comment. Really appreciate it 🙏🙏
@@FootballDrawn I agree, that match gives me goosebumps each time I see the highlights
And I’m a Milan fan
1 shot, 2 goals.
Liverpool was so lucky Inzaghi didn't play in ucl final 2005
His celebrations were even more greater 😂
I've been a Milan fan 2 decades now and I'll say one thing Pippo had that probably very few players do was an undying hunger and passion for the game. I can never forget how emotional he would get after scoring a goal. It would be like he scored his first ever career goal. I would happily take a player who gives his 100% in even the 5 minutes he plays over somebody who is naturally gifted but has attitude problems
Hey dude...Thank you sooo much for leaving a comment on the video. Really appreciate it, dude🙏🙏
Yeah, indeed. I've rarely seen a player with the kind of passion and emotion that Pippo Inzaghi had (and I've been watching football since late 90's)
What Messi and CR7 lacks are the positioning instincts of Ruud Van Nistelrooy and Inzaghi. You can't teach this thing. It's gifted. They aren't genius in dribbling/passing but they are genius in tactical awareness. Go count how many tap ins footballers like Messi or CR7 missed in their career.
Pippos last game I cried.that final game we lost so many legends.even Van bommel cried but when Pippo scored the winner he deserved that more than anyone
Hi Ridwaan. Thank you sooo much for writing a comment. Really appreciate it 🙏🙏
Yeah, it was a sad day for all Milan fans. It really says alot when a player like Van Bommel, who won so much in the game, has tears in his eyes, despite being in Milan for only a season and half
@@FootballDrawn Hi, you made a good video. Who do you think was the better No.9 in Italy during the late 90s/early 2000s, Inzaghi or Vieri?
I grew up idolizing Inzaghi. Thank you for this. You summed up the reason why I loved him perfectly that it brought this old lady to tears 🙂
Thank you sooooooooo much for writing a comment. Really glad that you liked the video. 🙏🙏
For me, Pippo Inzaghi represents an era of football that unfortunately we no longer have today.
The guy had incredible work rate, in the 2007 CL Inzaghi played the tip of a Christmas tree which is the hardest position for a striker to play.
Hi Ross. Thank you sooo much for dropping a comment. Really appreciate it 🙏🙏
Yeah, indeed. Every Christmas tree needs a star on top, doesn't it 😀😀
He is my favorite player, he was so clinical, even retired he made Buffon looked like a fool during the match for Pirlo. He was disrespected by Allegri though, I wish he did not have these injuries at the end of his career.
Hi Raymond. Thank you sooo much for the comment. Really appreciate it, dude. 🙏🙏
Yeah...unfortunately, injuries robbed him of playing time towards the end, as well as the 2003/04 and 2004/05 season. Luckily, his knee recovered enough to make it to the World Cup 2006.
That goal reminds me of the Vialli header on the floor. So ugly, it's gorgeous.
Hahahaa...You're soooo right !!!
Thank you, as always, for the comments. Really appreciate it, dude🙏🙏
its not lucky that he scores these goals, he just knows where to be in the perfect time
Master of time and space 🔥🔥
Blue lock brought me here 😅
What a legend he has won everything
Hahahaha...Yeah dude. I've been told by few people about the similarity of Pippo Inzaghi and one of the characters , after releasing this video. (haven't watched Blue Lock yet) 😀😀
Thank you soooo much for checking out the video. Really appreciate you leaving a comment here, Aryan.🙏🙏
Great video, didn’t realise how disliked he was, loved the born offside bit
Thank you for the comment. Really glad you enjoyed the video. 🙏🙏
To be honest, I wrote the whole bit about his birth, only to include that "offside" bit 😀😀
If u hate inzaghi u hate football what a striker and the celebrations legend
I could totally relate to Pippo's celebration. I think we were all celebrating those goals with the same vigor that he had :))
Oh, my god! Pippo was freaking lethal! He totally knew where to be, but, man, he could also score some absolute screamers, impossible goals even! What a legend!
Hi Juan. Thank you soooooooo much for writing a comment on the video. Really appreciate it 🙏🙏
Yeah, he was the master of time and space. There was a goal that he scored in a friendly against Barcelona at Camp Nou, which I wish I included in this video too. It's still available in UA-cam. You'll be amazed at that goal.
Scored twice in a Champions League final and lifted the trophy. You can name some more gifted strikers that have not achieved that, like his former partner Shevchenko,Thierry Henry,Rud van Nistelrooy, Brazilian Ronaldo and others. And he was already a veteran at this stage. A true legend. Forza Inzaghi i Forza Milan.
Hi Douglas. Thank you sooooo much for the comment. Really appreciate it dude. 🙏🙏
All the names that you mentioned really took me back to an era of football that I really miss 😀😀
It's sooo amazing to see fellow Milan fans in the channel 🔴⚫
One thing you didn't mention (and maybe you don't know about) is that he was an avid student of football. He enjoyed watching football games and he learned how other players moved so when he faced them he already knew how to play around them. He has terrific memory and (this has been tested on live TV) he remembers all of his goals. Give me intelligence and dedication over talent and athleticism without will
Indeed. The guy was definitely smart. Even through the words of others (Pirlo and Zlatan's autobiographies). Rarely have I seen anyone with his intelligence.
Thank you for the comment. Really appreciate it, dude :))
I used to hate this guy with a passion. He was so clumsy yet he always found a way to score. No matter the team no matter the score. He would score a goal from the most unbelievable positions in such a clumsy way.
Hahahaa....Yeah dude, rarely a player divided opinions like him. If he was on your side, you loved him. Otherwise, most neutrals didn't really "get" him. 😀😀
Thank you soooo much for dropping a comment. Really appreciate it 🙏🙏
How come this channel doesn't have 100K subs already? Amazing video
Hahahahaa...I hope I get there someday. Thank you soo much, my friend. Really appreciate it 🙏🙏
If you think Inzaghi's technique is ugly, just watch Luca Toni. Both mercurial goalscorers.
Hahahhaaa...Yeah, whatever he lacked in technique, he made up with his size and strength. Also a legend in Championship Manager 02, if you played that game 😀😀
Toni was not cordinated, but he was a tank
🤣🤣🤣🤣, Tell this to Mancini who want make Italia plays like Spain, he has a group capable to win to world cup if he respect the Tradition: let Immobile play even if he did not score. The same situation was the case the Luca Toni in 2006 and he play all the time
He's the reason I named my son Filippo even though it's not a common name in my place.
Unfortunately, he doesn't like Calcio, maybe later when he grows up. I hope...
Hi Zakaria. Thank you soooo much for leaving a comment. Really appreciate it 🙏🙏
I hope and pray that the young Filippo will grow to be an amazing man, with a long and blessed life. 🙂

Hopefully your win against City can kickstart your season. Good luck on the rest of your season, a club of immense tradition and history.
there is a Japanese anime main character inspired from inzaghi in football anime called blue lock. He is called isagi
I need to watch that...I've been told this quite a few times. Now I'm actually curious about this Isagi character 😀😀
@@FootballDrawn He’s very similar to Inzaghi in his playstyle
Both utilize positioning, off the ball movement, field vision, and I guess “getting lucky”
Why has your channel not blown up yet?
Verrrrrry good question my friend. Hey UA-cam, Are you listening?😀😀
In all seriousness, thank you soooo much, Sid. This comment really means alot to me 🙏🙏
Who else is here from Blue Lock? 👋
We found the real Isagi 🤯
Hey dude...thank you soooo much for the comment. Really appreciate it, dude🙏🙏
I actually had to look it up...Back in my day, we only had Captain Tsubasa 😀😀
Among the rankings in the anime Isagi had been one of the worst, but we've seen his ability to poach. The name also has a resemblance to Inzaghi. The author of Blue Lock is trying to tell these kids something amazing 🔴⚫
Inzagui is the perfect definition of "Simple but Effective", the only number 9 striker that is close to what Inzagui was when it comes to his clinical abilities was Radamel Falcao in his prime at Atletico de Madrid.
There's a reason of why there was a "Number 9 Curse" in Milan for so long since Inzagui left, and it was only Giroud, another underrated poacher, that was able to break it.
Hey dude. Thank you for the comment. Really appreciate it, man 🙏🙏
Indeed, Pippo Inzaghi was a rare breed...and honestly, I'd love to see that kind of striker come back. The likes of van Nistelrooy, and Falcao.
@@FootballDrawn It is very rare to see that kind of 9 striker poacher, since today's football has become more dynamic, now strikers that can fullfill multiple roles like Lewandosky or Benzema are the ones that are taking to spot, poachers are not that looked up now as it used to be, and let's be honest, Inzagui had the mighty Sheva as his partner at the from, plus Kaka, today that type of combination would be ilegal xD
Hollywood should make a movie on Inzaghi
" OFFSIDE "
Damn , this player is so inspiring for many of us ,,...
Hahahahaa...I would TOTALLY watch that :))
I'm here because of Blue Lock anime
So happy to see that there's an actual human Isagi Yoichi

You should be glad the author made isagi based on inzhagi
Dude, your videos are soooo underrated
Thank you soooo much, my friend. Really appreciate the comment. Thank you🙏
I love your video Super Pippo the real second half game changer, no strength, no technical skills but the best super-sub ever. Even the most skillfull players today are not even close to be so determinant as this guy was.
Hey dude. Thank you soooo much for writing a comment on the video. Really glad that you enjoyed it! 🙏🙏
Yeah, absolutely agreed. Pippo Inzaghi was the master of time and space in the box 🙂
Sure he doesn't dribble or juggle the ball like CR or Messi but to say he had no technical skill is a bit misleading. He received long and through balls with brilliant subtle deft touches, setting up many of his trademark "boring" goals.
Hey dude...Thank you for checking out the video. Really appreciate it.
Yeah...I think you're right. He was a brilliant receiver of the ball
Amazing video on Pippo Inzaghi, and Serie A
Thanks alot, my friend. Really appreciate the comment 🙏🙏
Most of people just busy to looking who is the next messi or c ronaldo. But I think messi or c ronaldo is great player but never be unique as Inzaghi.
Inzaghi can perform bad for almost two half, but suddenly he create crucial goal in cheaper and simplest ways. I really miss his playstyle.
Hey dude. Thank you for your comment. Really appreciate it 🙏🙏
Yeah I think Inzaghi was the master of scoring "efficient" goals. I think as Messi and Ronaldo started to get in their early 20's, they also had to become the master of scoring "efficient" goals, which is why they're both legends of the game.
That clip of the goal against Juve you showed. If that is not technical ability then idk what technical ability is.
Good point. Love your profile name btw 😀😀

Hey Douglas, Thank you soooo much for the comment. Really appreciate it.
Yeah absolutely, there's rarely someone like Pippo Inzaghi, who made a whole career out of game-intelligence :))
Not to mention inzaghi was plagued with injury. I still remember Mourinho told the press “I don’t care if Milan wants to play with 10 striker or what, but just don’t put Inzaghi on the Field.” People were laughing because Inzaghi was an injured 37 years old striker who didnt make any notable performances in that year. Even he was benched for injury in the 2nd leg which Milan lost. But for those who did not understand Inzaghi, they kept saying the first goal was lucky and the second goal was offside… That’s super Pippo for you😁
Hi Akram. Thank you sooo much for writing a comment on this video. Really appreciate it dude 🙏🙏
Yeah indeed. I remember specifically how Pippo Inzaghi missed most of the 2003-04, which made him miss the Euro 2004 as well (and Italy missed his goals in that tournament). It was impressive how he came back to recover for a decent 2005-06 season, and make it to the 2006 World Cup-winning squad.
Me and you who read are like Pippo Inzaghi, and this is enough to inspire our daily life to be better everyday.

As someone younger who hasn't seen him play, after hearing the last question, does giroud counts? With less goals of cause but he still scores
Hey dude. I'd even say Giroud still has a decent technical abilities. I'd say yeah, Giroud is an evolution from the Inzaghi type that was required from modern football. I would say Mauro Icardi is the exact "like for like" profile.
Thank you for the comment. Really appreciate it dude 🙏🙏
@@FootballDrawn i would agree with this, but both Icardi and Giroud are way more gifted
Mario Gomez, Bayern 2009-13 was very very much like Pippo, but Pippo was way faster at his responses
Edit: Technically gifted with the ball*

There's a good couple of Milan topics that I've already started to write the script for. Hopefully, at least one of them will come out soon.

He had pace and a crazy work rate as well but his ability to ghost defenders and read the game was on another level.
Hey John. Thank you soooo much for leaving a comment on the video. Really appreciate it dude.
Yeah absolutely. That ability to ghost defenders...his in-box intelligence was unmatched.
I could never hate my Pippo
he's responsible for many of my favorite moments in Italian football
is simone inzaghi his brother or its a common name in italy??
Simone Inzaghi is actually his younger brother, who was also a striker. There was one Italy squad that both were called up for at the same time, which remains Simone Inzaghi's only international cap. Simone's career was usually under Pippo's shadow, although as a coach, Simone seems to be the more successful one.

Yeah indeed. To be honest, I still haven't watched Blue Lock, but I'm told by this comparison alot :))
Sometime ppl forget how fast he's inside the box
He had this way of "sniffing" for chances in the box. Unmatched intelligence
For Inzaghi has has no strength, no technical skills. But he can see the things before it happened and that imo is the greatest quality a striker could have.

LOL.. when I was still high school, we called Inzaghi "a sticker" because he stays at the edge of the offside line.
Hahahahaa...Yeah dude. He was the master of time and space, and that meant that he was gonna be in offside quite a bit 😀😀
Bravo, ottimo video.

Absolutely. Even when I was watching him 2 decades ago, I always felt like he has his poison ready for any moment.
Why would anybody hate inzaghi? There are some players that deserve hate but Inzaghi isn’t one of them. A misunderstood player perhaps but had a special skill set.
Hey dude. Thank you for leaving a comment on the video. Really appreciate it :))
Ofcourse, with today's lens, he's not hated, but I remember when I was watching him in late 90's and 2000's (when skill was celebrated over efficiency), he wasn't liked at all by fans (unless he was in your team).
I'm glad the narrative around Pippo Inzaghi's legacy has changed these days, but unfortunately it wasn't the case 2 decades ago.
Not for nothing did he grow up and become a phenomenon in Juve
That ADP and Pippo Inzaghi partnership was next-level. Thank you for the comment. Really appreciate it, dude :))
Cruijff added - parhaps later, not sure - 'He can't play but I would always put him on there because he always scores.'
In fact, around when he scored that brace against Real, Sir Alex expressed his respect for Super Pippo and his longevity as a poacher.
Oh, I didn't know there was more after that Cruijff quote. Thank you for the clarification. Really appreciate it dude :))
Pippo Inzaghi is what i believe a Striker is. You can dribble and pass as a false 9 and be a playmaker, but a Striker's NO.1 requirement, is goals. A striker needs to be where the space is most deadly. Inzaghi had that. He would be there, and then the most important thing for a striker: finishing. Even if he could be there, what use would it be if he couldn't score? But he did.
Positioning to a critical spot, and clincal finishing. That is a striker's bread and butter
God, I miss the "true 9" strikers. Getting fed up with all these Guardiola-type false nines...and Pippo Inzaghi was the truest of all 9's :)))
Ghost of the box ❤🖤
In true definition!!
Inzaghi and Muller have my respect. As a kid I wanted to be like Raul or Inzaghi.
Who cares about the ball, just pass it into space so I can score, ideally with 0 dribbling.
Games are won with goals, how you score.. nobody gonna remember.
Hahahaa....Verrrrrry well said, dude. I had a childhood friend that we used to call Pippo, because that's all he did in our street football. He just did the scoring :))

This is awesome!
Thanks alot dude...Really appreciate it man. Thank you for the love and support 🙏🙏
Pippo didn't "deserve" to score, like much hyped young strikers today. He was just efficient and scored.
For me , football is a simple game where players do the tasks as simple as possible. .. That's why there are 11 players on the team , not 1 vs 1 match. .. Everyone hold their own respective task and do it accordingly as a team. .. No need some fancy BS tricks , some superhuman speed or strenght nor godly dribbling skills. .. You just had to play the game , enjoy yourself , score the goal and win the match
Verrrrry well said. Thank you sooo much for the comment. Really appreciate it :))
I think Haaland could. Many say he only scores tap-ins. But his positional awareness and ability to be at the right place could make him similar to Inzaghi
Hey Elias. Thank you soo much for the comment. Really appreciate it.
Honestly, I'm really glad that we're seeing another "classic" number 9 again. Reminds me of my childhood era in 90's, when we had many forwards of that ilk. I personally think Haaland is verrrrrrrrrry close to Bobo Vieri. Both big and incredibly strong as an ox, both left-footed, but I think Haaland will go even further, as Vieri was a party boy.
maybe haaland should learn more from inzaghi, because alot of defenders surround themselves around haaland which stops him from scoring goals as much as he used to. imo
hahahaahaaa
He does have a great first touch though

Morfeo allowed him to score a lot of goals in Atalanta, which is why he became famous

Hi Ayush. Thank you for the comment.
Of course, now the narrative is different, but in late 90's/early 2000's, it was different. He had alot of haters back then (including me, when he was playing in Juventus).
Looking back, I was wrong to hate him 😄😄
