Another great video Darren! Great market and delicious food. Can't wait every Wed for your sharing of those videos. I love thai street food a lot, and I feel hungry every time I watch your video. Nice to see your wife and son in this video. Anyway take care bro!
Lol! I'm glad you're enjoying the videos. Thailand is definitely a great place to visit, I hope you can find your way here in the not too distant future! Thanks for watching!
Darren Thanks so much. Really informative and your delivery style is great. Love the google co-ordinates as well. We’re going later this year and staying right by the mosque so looks like we’re in the thick of it.!!
Love your video you always make the good one specially the market tour and shows lots of yummy food to eat. Very interesting thanks for sharing have a lovely day x
Hi Darren, I just wanted to thank you for these videos. I've watched your videos for a while and have visited a number of the places you pointed out. Amazing! In fact, we passed by the places in this video just last night. Thanks again.
Thanks Tez. I hope you have a great holiday! As you've seen there are lots of great markets in and around Ao Nang and heaps of yummy food. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Love the night market look very busy place for food and lots of nice stalls very clean place like all the foods they selling them thank you for sharing your video .
Hi my friend your video very great I was very motivated to go there again to see all local market there I wish you happy weekend my dear friend ,,,, thanks again
Very nice video, Darren. I agree with you. It's hard to find something on thai markets that doesn't taste and smell delicious.. Looking forward to part 2 :)
Thanks! Sometimes it rains, sometimes it's dry in May, June and July, like the other months. Now it's the dry season and it's been raining most days. It really is luck of the draw.
hi Daren you have excuse me a father Australian accent ha ha I like everything's you do on your videos cheese brother please complete to newcaledonia island next ime
Thanks Sophie. My favourite Thai breakfast is the rice congee, "jok", but there are plenty of other delicious options too. This week's video features my Thai breakfast from this morning, it will be out on Wednesday :)
It really depends on the year. Generally mid to late December through January seems to be most people's favourite time as it is cooler and generally fairly dry, but there has been a lot of rain this year. I personally would come late March/April. It's hot then, but usually dry. Whether it will be dry this year though is anyone's guess.
Hi Darren. Your videos are really amazing. Have you ever been to Patong, Thailand? I am going to be traveling to Patong and hopefully all of Phuket this November.. Any recommendation on any street markets in Phuket and how's the weather in November? Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks
Hi, Thanks for the kind words, I'm glad you're enjoying the videos. Yes, I have been to Patong, there is a playlist of videos I've made in Patong here: ua-cam.com/play/PLNLfDOIkGB128j2QK-HzUXdOlTlKPjbcG.html There are loads of markets in Phuket, here's a playlist of them: ua-cam.com/play/PLNLfDOIkGB12Gu-mTWTLF0h5KyfRBvf6W.html, but Walking Street Sunday Market in Phuket Town is the only real street market I've seen. It is great! Unfortunately the weather in the tropics is unpredictable and all I can say is at that time of year sometimes it rains, sometimes it doesn't, the same as any other time of the year. It really is luck of the draw. Sorry, but I have no way of predicting what the weather will do, in my experience it changes from year to year. Right now we're in the dry season and it rains every evening. I hope that helps.
Thanks. I'm just curious, what is the average price per kilogram for live lobsters and prawns? I live in the US and we go by the pound, but I'm pretty sure I can convert kilograms to pounds. I would love to try the seafood in Thailand, but I don't want to "overpay" because tourists usually get ripped off. I assume we can negotiate prices? What tips or advice can you offer me on how to get the best deals on seafood?
I'm afraid I don't know the average prices in Patong, Patong is very touristy and most things are expensive there compared to most other parts of Thailand. In my opinion the best place to buy live seafood in Patong is Banzaan Market during the day time. All the prices will most likely be fixed, you probably won't be able to negotiate, but you can try. You could probably get live lobster there for around 3,000 baht per kilogram, prawns vary depending on the size. The small ones would probably be around 400 baht per kilogram, large ones up to maybe 2,000 baht per kilogram. In my most recent video from last Wednesday, we bought 3,000 baht worth of seafood including live lobster in Rawai Seafood Market in Rawai, Phuket, you can see the video here: ua-cam.com/video/9DEkS_4evGc/v-deo.html
Looks like you had a busy week! Everything looks so great, I can't wait to try some of these myself someday! Basically grew up on kuaytiaw reua, "meat dry" as my grandma calls it (basically beef jerky that isn't super dried out and flash fried before serving), thai style fried pork ribs, sticky rice, thai sausage, nam, and so on! Being surrounded by Thai Food seems like a dream! Was it hard to adjust to living in Thailand? What do you think was the hardest thing to adjust to?
Yes, Thai food is awesome. That meat sounds like a pork dish I love, "moo dad deaw". Yes, it is good being surrounded by Thai food :) No, I didn't have too many problems adjusting. I think the hardest thing for me was getting accustomed to the heat. Where I live, in Krabi, it can get very hot and humid at times.
is there a difference between krabi market and ao nang krabi market? and if there is, which one do you recommend? I'm going to krabi thailand for the first time and I'm a bit curious.
Ao Nang is a town in the province of Krabi. There are lots of great markets in Ao Nang, as this video shows. There are also some great markets in the capital of the province, Krabi Town, which is about 20 km from Ao Nang. Part 2 of this video features some of them at the end. They are all great, and I can recommend any of them. The Walking Street Weekend Market in Krabi Town is the biggest one in Krabi. Here's a link to part 2 of this video: ua-cam.com/video/dPXmHUZilC4/v-deo.html
I wouldn't say it's "cheap" for all Thais. We (Aorn, Ananda and I) sometimes go to a market and on occasions spend around 300 baht on snacks. 300 baht is the minimum day's wage in Thailand and there are lots of people who earn that.
My family of 4 got extremely bad food poisoning during our stay in Thailand after eating from several of these street food tents. I noticed that none of the vendors at these food stalls wash their hands because they don't have any handwash sinks/stations. They go from handling raw meats, to money, to handling your food. Also, most of them don't have coolers or hot holding units to prevent the growth of foodborne illness causing bacteria. It is definitely delicious food but also comes with an "Eat at your own risk" warning!
Sure, you do have to be a bit careful. I've eaten street food more or less daily since moving to Thailand in April 2012 and I haven't had any problems. The last time I got food poisoning was from a world-famous chicken franchise in Australia. Having said that I don't buy from every vendor I see. If the stand doesn't look clean I keep walking. Lots of the vendors in my area do have hand wash buckets and most have ice boxes.
Well you did it again darren, you made me so hungry, I had to get something to eat so I can watch the rest of your video, Your kid will be soon your sidekick food eater :) Thanks for the upload & see ya next week :)
Lol! Yes, it's a good idea to watch with food I think :). And yes, I'm looking forward to when he starts talking so I can hear what he thinks of the foods. Part 2 of this video will be up tomorrow, see ya then.
Thanks Ash! I wouldn't be learning from me though. One of the first things I decided when learning Thai was to only learn from native speakers. Generally when westerners taught me stuff Thais couldn't understand me. There are loads of great Thai language UA-cam channels, Learn Thai with Mod and Kru Wee Teach Thai are my two favourites.
For more Ao Nang food videos check out my playlist here:ua-cam.com/video/bjwygRfjOYw/v-deo.html
Thanks for watching.
Your channel is the best resource for learning about Thailand. GPS coordinates the best. Thanks cobber.
You're welcome :)

Thanks! Sometimes it rains, sometimes it's dry in May, June and July, like the other months. Now it's the dry season and it's been raining most days. It really is luck of the draw.
due to visit that area in Feb 19 and can't wait to try out the street food..... Is language a barrier when ordering/paying etc?
If you are hoping for perfect English then you will be disappointed, but if you're flexible and patient I'm sure you will have no problems.
very good vlog Darren ;-) im still putting on kilos by looking at your vlogs ;-) thank you for sharing mr.food teaser
Lol. I'm glad you enjoyed it :)
hi Daren you have excuse me a father Australian accent ha ha I like everything's you do on your videos cheese brother please complete to newcaledonia island next ime
Great video as always. whats the best type of Thai breakfast? :)
Thanks Sophie. My favourite Thai breakfast is the rice congee, "jok", but there are plenty of other delicious options too. This week's video features my Thai breakfast from this morning, it will be out on Wednesday :)
It looks really nice , we will come in 16 days :)

Yeah it is crystal ball stuff I guess, is there months that are extra windy?
Not really. It generally gets windy when there are storms.
I go to Chiang mai every year does ao nang have a similar vibe?
I've never been to Chiang Mai, so I cannot comment.
Hi Darren. Your videos are really amazing. Have you ever been to Patong, Thailand? I am going to be traveling to Patong and hopefully all of Phuket this November.. Any recommendation on any street markets in Phuket and how's the weather in November? Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks

I like all that food.
Me too 😋
Thank you for Share Movie for info, "Good . . . Nice . . . Funny" Kid, now more Bigger maybe was School. Lovely
How often do you visit night markets?
It depends on the week. Sometimes we go to 2 or 3 night markets in a week, sometimes we go to 2 or 3 in a night.
อาหารไทย นทท.ต่างชาติก้ชอบมาก....
Hi Darren, street food is very cheap for westerner, but do the thai locals consider it cheap too?
I wouldn't say it's "cheap" for all Thais. We (Aorn, Ananda and I) sometimes go to a market and on occasions spend around 300 baht on snacks. 300 baht is the minimum day's wage in Thailand and there are lots of people who earn that.
Damn...!!! I freakin luv Thai foods! They are so freakin spicy & delicious..!!!
They are indeed, I love them too!
hello sir..im planning go to krabi..can u recommend which 1 night market near with cliff hotel in ao nang?(sorry bad english)
Hi, There is nowhere called the "Cliff Hotel" in Ao Nang.
darrenb3 the cliff resort?maybe not a hotel..sorry..maybe i got wrong information hehehe..btw thanks the info
The night market outside the mosque in the video (the second market shown) is near the The Cliff Ao Nang Resort. It's probably a 5 minute walk away.

4 nights in ao nang enough?
It depends on the individual, but no, not for me.
On my first time in Thailand in 2011 the 16 nights I had in Ao Nang weren't enough.
Hey Darren im here with my girlfriend in ao nang for the next 3 days!We hope to meet you! Favourite youtuber!
Hey Jason, It was great to meet you guys, thanks for coming by to say Hi! :)
darrenb3 it was very nice meeting you and your family as well! Thanks for you time!

ручками трогает еду) а потом дрищ будет ахаха)
It's not good to touch food with hands
