Thanks LL, well we're learning from each other. Not quite the exuberance of Vegas, but it makes you realise what a rich and interesting place the world truly is!
great video coverage on Lewes town centre , i love it very much, i went the Lewes Technical College long time ago...1976-1978, and still quite and peaceful city as before...
Hello there Dicky, how interesting to hear that you went to the technical college in the 70’s and still feel the town has its charms. Hope this helped to bring back a good memory or two.
Class 1 Building. I had to look it up. Interesting. I would love to travel to the UK and metal detect. I heard the locals are pretty protective of there metal detecting fields. I don't blame them at all. You and your wife must be in great shape. A lot of walking. Take care. Love your videos.
Hiya HD, Ah it'd be lovely if you could someday visit. We have a close friend who is a very keen detectorist and he'd just love to meet you. He's found a lot of Roman jewellery and neolithic axes and arrowheads, he'd love to show someone who would be interested!! Great shape, ha ha, well we might be if we hadn't eaten wonderful Madeiran bread for 62 days!! All the best to you mate.
Wow 🤩. What a neat, well put together town on this nice bright day. Handsome buildings all the way along. ‘Dominated’ is the correct word when you get up to the Norman Castle 🏰 ⛅️ and it’s great arched gateways. Thanks again for such a good experience 👍. Cheers, Don 🙋♂️ !!
Hello there Don, yes we rather liked Lewes, shame the camera wasn't quite mounted on the gimbal properly and the footage is a bit shaky. Thought it was worth adding anyway. Hope are things in lovely Scotland and do you have any plans to travel this year?
@@LivingWalks A bit shaky ? I didn’t notice, I will have another look 👀. Things are good up here, quite a mild winter so far, so lots of local walks and seeing friends outdoors. No travel plans so far this year. We are still visiting in the CareHome every day, and being as careful as we can be, not to take COVID into the place !! But, thanks to you, and others we get virtual about as much as we want 👍. Hope your week is going well 😊. Cheers, Don 🙋♂️
Hello there Jems, ah that's encouraging to hear what a liveable place Lewis is. We certainly got that feeling from the time we spent there. Hope you enjoyed the virtual meander as well as your real ones!!
Such a shame that is is so expensive to live there and so many people in Lewes rent out shitty rooms…..at least that was the case pre pandemic….can’t imagine that it is any better now.
I used to motorcycle through the town up the hill on the A27 from Eastbourne to Brighton. The railway crossed at the top of the hill on a bridge. Not so busy in summer in 1964 as nowadays. It saddens me the way councils have driven traffic out of towns, and put small shops out of business in favour of charity shops. The Ouse Valley Viaduct was so unsound that it had to be demolished with dynamite, I knew the man who blew it up.
Hi @jagracershoestring609, It must have been a special place in its day, high streets and independent shops have certainly suffered over the years haven't they. Thanks for taking the time to drop by with your thoughts and all the best to you.

I do miss it I use to do a courier round all of BN7. I'm hopefull I will get news today that I can resume my love affair with the best small town in Sussex. Lovely place great people can't recommend it enough only one slight quibble is that bloody Argos monstrosity look it yuk.
Hello there Gordon, I do hope you can resume your love affair with the lovely little town... I'm quite with you regarding the Argos monstrosity!! It does rather have pride of place doesn't it?
I was born here 66 years ago, for me the monstrosity is from Cliffe bridge to Library corner including Boots round into Eastgate Street, these could be anytown anywhere. There used to be Sovereign Buldings, Victorian I assume, not the present ersatz precinct. Then there's the monstrocity that's County Hall visible from miles away across the Downs and even worse the Amex Stadium 4 miles away but an eyesore when it's lit up..
Do drop by with your thoughts about Lewes, or the channel in general. it'd be a pleasure to hear from you.
The channel is amazing and I really enjoy traveling around the World
Looks like a quant place, I didn't know about the brewery, so thanks for adding the info' captions.
Yes there's a lot we too didn't know about Lewis. So it's good to be able to share the little we learned. All the best to you MA.
Lovely to see so many independent shops and cafe's. What a lovely place and so nicely captured.

The atmosphere is very good, it's a very interesting city to visit.😍😍
We quite agree TN!
It’s not a city… far too small, Lewes is a market town ❤
Use to live in Lewes from 2000 to 2002 while studying in Falmer. Children used to study in Pells CE primary which has closed down.
Ah, glad to bring a little of it back to you. Thanks for dropping by.
I live in Lewes… and I’ve just watched this vid! I must be bored!! In all seriousness Lewes is a lovely place with some super friendly locals ❤

Hiya @manufactotum6064 - I can imagine it's an expensive place to live. It felt very affluent...

Just looked at a 2 bed bungalow in Grange Road. Only £1.2 million
