Film is way too expensive now. In Nova Scotia it would be about $22 for a roll, $14 for developing and another $12 for scans (after taxes). $48 to shoot 36 frames….
@@Ces1um I can attest to this increase. It’s crazy, I only started film shooting a few years back but I’ve already seen film stock prices rise by about 50% (if you can even find them anymore!), so I’ve mainly moved to digital with only the occasional roll of Fuji or Gold when the cravings kick in. B&W isn’t as bad, though, with the local art school carrying most Ilford products.
I can attest that, I was just looking today and damn, some people are insane to charge more than 100 dollars for a vintage point and shoot camera that has nothing special about it. I even saw one for 250!!, of course it was pristine and had the box with all the paperwork and accessories, but still… insane!
Also people will probably collect physical video games and music albums, possibly even DVD‘s in an attempt to buy back their youth in a time where everything has become digital.
@@sveeny"probably will"? I thought modern kids all LOVED video games? And "music albums" (what a weird way of wording things) - who ever stopped listening to music? I can't tell if this a troll post or... Guess that makes it a successful troll post.
I’d be happy if someone can change my mind but in my opinion, if you’re editing the photo to give it a vintage look anyway, I think you might as well use your smartphone. The quality is better, you get the same features and you already own one. If you want the film look, get a film camera
I know this isn't the same for everybody but I always keep my photos on the camera and I don't edit them either besides cropping them here and there and a lot of digital cameras are pretty cheap maybe not that one in particular but a good amount of them are around $13 EDIT: I just checked the price skyrocketed when I bought mine it was only 12 bucks😭
They will be all the rage for awhile and prices will continue to skyrocket, but the novelty will wear out and they will fill the junk drawers once again, and find their way back to ebay for those of us who never stopped using them in the first place.
Preach!!! Current prices are completely out of hand, totally insane, some people are charging 250 for this camera, finding one below 100 is hard, only beaten and broken units can be found.
After testing a few, I ended up that one just a bit after they came out. And at the time the photo mags were giving it rave reviews and adding that you need to put a piece of that 3M frosted tape on the flash. Just one layer. I tried it and it makes a world of difference. You might wanna pin this in case others would like to know this must-do tip.
Started with the Canon elph 180, used it for my hunting videos. Now upgraded to the elph 360 hs, the best of that line before having to compromise size and weight.
Bought this canon when it came out back in 2007, took it all over the world. Starts at 35mm/2.8. Beautiful canon color with ccd sensor you young grasshoppers are way late to the game I’m afraid.🎉😂😢
Purchased the SD950 recently. Can’t get over the images you get straight out of the camera. For $99 I get the same film look that these $1,000 cameras have to fake with film simulations. Won’t say it replaces the high end cameras, but it’s definitely great to have in the collection.
My guess why there are already 200 shots on the camera would be that they were taken for quality control! Great and very helpful video, thank you so much!
Canon Elph 310 has really done me well. I've moved on to Fuji X and It's prime lenses but having a pocket camera with an 8x optical lens and ibis has served me well. I run some of the pics through the demo version of Topaz AI Photo and simply screen grab the results on a large Retina screen, and It's amazing.
I actually use a DigiCam for photography since DSLR are quire expensive and not practical for me atm. I have an old Casio Exilim H15 as my first camera that i bought from a set of defective cameras that i managed to fix and that camera was quite good at taking pictures and now I use the Samsung WB250F smart camera and I also bought it as defective and fixed it myself. So now i got two cameras one being only Automatic while the Samsung having full manual mode.
digicams is one of those 'tech oddities' that it was forgotten and most people find the quality '"undesirable",but now that tiktok and tech tubers is talking about it again suddenly everyone wants one now [whether its a good or a bad thing,i think its up to you]
Good thing I have 2 point N shoots (these ones aren’t as small and are closer to dslr in form factor) from my grandma. Sony dsc hx1 and canon power shot sx530hs❤
I’ve been traveling with my camera from 2010, but the battery flap is broken and it’s not very reliable in general. I love the look of the photos, and just how easy it is to carry around
Mine looking like a beaten up altoids can here, powershot and megapixels marking are gone, so do the canon logo near the lcd and the markings for photo/video/preview, this thing took great photos fr fr (focusing kinda messy tho....)
I'm pretty sure your lens is bad. I have a set of 5 sd1100's and one of them also has a blurred lens. There really isn't anything you can do to get that fixed unless you replace the defective lens assembly with a good one.
Well Kodak has us paying as much as one of these cameras cost for a roll of portra, so I’m all for it at this point!
Same!
