I have to admit that the P2 really impressed me. Not only does the resolution and frame rate make it an excellent tool for diagnosing hardware of all shapes and sizes- it’s just a whole lot of fun to look at the world through this device.
The P2 clearly produces better images and with a wider field of view to boot. For occasional diagnostic use, this is a fantastic little powerhouse of a camera.
That was exactly the video I needed so thank you a great deal! I went with the P2, my use case is mostly just getting overall external temperature on devices.
Thanks Richard. Another fair and honest review. I bought the ETS Tooltop as it gave me all I needed at the right price for repair work and the multimeter was a real bonus.
Totally agree to0! using different thermal cameras for different purposes and needs, thermal master also has the p2pro, which may be better suited for electronics; but for everyday use, the p2 is great value for money; thanks for this honest review!
These two are priced pretty reasonably, and I can afford them! You might not have heard of Flir or TOPDON-those are way pricier and need constant charging. Plus, they're bulkier than the P2 and P2 Pro. Last year, I bought a Flir One Pro to fix plumbing issues (my bathroom walls leak all the time!), and it cost me double what the P2 does. But it's always out of juice because I forget to charge it-total hassle! And the Flir app? Slow as molasses! I really hope the price matches the quality with these.
I have the ET13S, which i have had for which seems like an age now, bought at a good price with macro included, and i chose it because it could do both applications, that said one tool to do one very good job is better choice, you have to get value for money, you can`t show every instance of the application, but there is deffently a difference maybe be P2 could benefit a macro lens it does seem like a light lux problem.
The ET13S is a bit awkward and a bit too big to take out; and it's supposed to be charging it all the time, so it's a pain in the ass, and I still prefer not to charge 🤣How much did you pay for ET13S ?
Hello Richard - Just an FYI . I am watching your youtube channel via a Roku device on my TV and I see that you have added " Additional Audio Tracks " to your feed recently. Unfortunately I can't get it to play with American English. It defaults to French I believe. English is not listed as a valid option within the youtube settings? Only additional languages are made as an available option. It works perfectly on a Windows 11 PC as there is no button option for additional languages and plays in English . I tried it on 2 different TV's that have Roku interfaces . Hope I explained it correctly .. Thanks for all the great content.
It is not just Richard that is having this issue. Another creator has reported problems with the UA-cam app. That creator I believe said, "I will be disabling auto voice translations on all videos until this is resolved." That person was also using Roku on their TV.
So, of the four cameras, if my main usage would be building inspections (insulation etc.), and sometimes electronics repair, my best bet would be P2 Pro with macro lens. Am I right?
I tested the et13s and all i could see is pixels everywhere lol and it was so laggy too i would've bought it if it was cheap, the p2 pro with macro lens is impressive
Excellent comparison. I only wish I hadn't jumped to buying one early on without knowing about the Marco lens. I wonder how hard it would to build one for mine, and if it would even work.
If anyone is interested in the ET13S, Ali Express is selling it for £90.96 plus tax, with the macro lens. It is on sale as from the 11th November to the 18th.
Take this with a pinch of salt, sometimes I talk out of my arse. With the thermal cameras can you check If there is a Manual setting for the colours? eg. at 13:50 the ET13s say Auto. the colour range is set automatically red the hottest blue cold the coldest, it sees in the area of view. As you see more on the screen (move away) the values for red and blue change automatically. Is there a setting to set the red and blue at fixed temperatures? Make a fixed values for the colours? This way you would be able to spot components over a set temperature? Say if you could set red to red to be 100C you would easily spot the components over 100C? I hope I explained that OK. I think the pro may have better colour settings which make it look better?
@@LearnElectronicsRepair My ET13S refuses to fire up unless I press the power button and the button next to it at the same time. It's like some kind of weird boot loop is going on. I'm mentioning it in case anybody else has this problem in future. It cures it every time, then it fires up with just the power button for a few times. EDIT: When it gets stuck in the loop, pressing just the power button for a normal start-up will turn the power button green, then red, then the whole unit off. I'm guessing the two buttons together act as some kid of reset.

That's for pocket thermal cemra:)

P2 better resolution and refresh rate and doesn’t cost a arm and a leg
Heya, yes I totaly agree with you end review depending in what you need you should choose the best for your case

Hi there! Thank you for your videos! Do you have suggestions for a heatgun, and a micro soldering microscope?
I can’t believe how expensive they are.
I would have expected them to come down in price these days.
What is it that makes them so expensive?

Actually you can zoom in with P2 Pro using Thermal Eye 3 mobile app.

Could we next have a mid price (£30-£60) multimeter test comparison video? Pretty please!

I think P2 will suit better:) P2 pro is for electronics.

I think so!
ETS Tooltop is a bit laggy, P2 is better for me, the price is right and the quality is great!
Really? I’m leaning toward the P2 Pro too, but since I’d only use it occasionally, I’m still on the fence. 🤔

Sold,
Im sold on waiting till the price comes down. 😂
It's only going to go up. Companies are preparing to increase prices very very soon. Tariffs ftl!

Have a look to see if it was doing that in the original ET13S review, linked in the video description
