    Awesome instructions on the sounder setup. Can't wait to try this on my next outing with my NSSevo12 and B150M Thru Hull.
    Cheers.

    I used the 105 frequency a lot in this video, it eliminated the other multiple frequencies AROUND 105. This gave me a cleaner return as I really did not need to see everything within the frequency range. I don't want to sound confusing, but a few guys asked. Thanks!

    Whew, a lot for my gray matter to sort, but them huge arches vs the tiny ones should help my tired eyes. Still researching . . .
    Great presentation.

    Ive got the GO9 updated to Fish Reveal but 3 seasons now and I dont ever see "arches" i have gotten good with settings on structure scan. I struggle with terminology not knowing what alot of these settings really do. Thanks for the video. THANKS FOR GOING OVER TVG setting!!!!

      Sure brother!! Make sure the interference filter is turned OFF that tends to squash arches. Try the 83khz on that transducer, it seems to do a little better in most situations.

    These settings are nearly identical for traditional or Broadband sonar. The frequencies and values will vary, but set up process is the same. TVG AND PING SPEED are also the same.

    Hi Mike, great video but you made no mention of depth settings.I generally ocean fish in up to 350 ft of water.Should i just leave this setting on auto or set min and max settings.
    I have two thru hull transducers one is a 1kw high chirp and the other is a 1kw low chirp.
    Thanks
    Keith

    • @MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS
      @MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS  7 років тому

      Keith Fay Hi Keith, glad you liked the video. I leave depth range on auto to start as I hunt around for marks. Once I dial in where the fish are hanging I go to manual range. I also zoom/split the screen if I find fish relating to the bottom. One split shows the full range from top to bottom and the other zooms in on only the bottom. It's adjustable by the knob.

    Can the Simrad unit be connected to a Minn Kota trolling motor similar to Humminbird i-Pilot? In other words, can you mark a waypoint with Simrad and use your trolling motor to take you to the spot and hold you on top of that spot?

    What model tranducer used in this video

  • @MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS
    @MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS  10 років тому

    A QUICK CORRECTION. Medium Chirp is NOT 115Khz, it is all of the frequencies available with this particular transducer as it is a MEDIUM band transducer. Thanks.

  • @lukemontagu123

    Hey Mike - I thought CHIRP was always multiple frequencies, therefore when you select a single frequency surely it isn't really CHIRP? Isn't the only CHIRP setting the medium CHIRP? Also I can't get the same fish arches you are getting (have exactly the same kit) - are there other settings? Thanks so much. v helpful video. Luke

    • @MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS
      @MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS  9 років тому

      Yes Luke you are correct. Medium is the only CHIRP setting with this transducer. However you still get some advanced results using a CHIRP dedicated transducer and a custom frequency, especially in shallower water less than 200ft. For instance a broadband 200khz transducer can't compare to the same frequency set in custom with a CHIRP transducer. I guess we loosley call it custom chirp when we do that since there is a HUGE difference in clarity and target separation, but it technically is not swept frequency chirp. Thanks for the comment Luke!!- Mike.

      Mike Smedley Mike I got the NSS7 Evo2 with the Lowrance skimmer ducer as a rebate package. Isn't this a chirp ducer and how does it compare to the tm 150 because I only paid 105.00

    • @MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS
      @MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS  9 років тому

      That is a fine transducer and You can use chirp settings with it, but I have compared both and the resolution Isn't even close, in fact the 83khz broadband setting was way better than the chirp setting. The Airmar 150 M chirp is crazy good for $275.

    • @TurboGSR96
      @TurboGSR96 8 років тому

      funny everyone dogs the TM150 now, I got tired of hearing how shitty it is and just switched to a GT23 (garmin) and threw my 150 back in the box, so far I see an improvement but time will tell.

  • @MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS
    @MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS  10 років тому

    This was shot using the Airmar TM150 300watt CHIRP transducer. It is the cheapest real chirp transducer I know of. $280.00. Transom mount.

    Simple stupid question which no one has covered. How do you bring the bottom to the middle of the screen? Thanks,

    • @MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS
      @MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS  6 років тому

      you can increase the range. It will squash the page, but the bottom will come up to the middle. You can also ZOOM IN By turning the control knob clockwise. You can see how it works at the 1:40 mark in this one. ua-cam.com/video/23e_9Uvy_eU/v-deo.html. ZOOMING brings the bottom up without squashing the page. thanks for the comment brother! Hope this helps!

      The Simrad NSS Evo2 in this video is the 9" screen. It retails for just under $2400. However the 7" is under $1200. The chirp transducer TM150 M in just under $300. That is all you need to use chirp sonar. Just an Evo2 and the chirp transducer! It plugs straight in.

  • @buck3409

    This guy sounds like he knows what he is doing. But, the whole idea of "CHIRP" is that it pulses a range of frequencies. He is advertising "CHIRP" but by selecting custom frequency, he has turned off "CHIRP". Can't believe most of what you see or read these days.

      @MikeSmedleyOLDSCHOOLSTRIPERS  7 років тому

      After using CHIRP processors and CHIRP transducers for a few years now I look back on this video and can really see the massive improvements in Transducer performance even when set to a single frequency. I have found that a CHIRP transducer can WAY outperform a fixed frequency transducer even while it's set on fixed frequency.
