@@jrevillug 😂
Jen is too cute with the dancing and perma-smiling. Digging both of your attitudes during the trip and, more generally, life
Thanks Jerome! That means a lot :D I'm glad Jenn got to come on this trip too because she makes these videos way more interesting.
Most underrated Motorcycle channel. 👍🏻
Thanks!! You're awesome 😎
Don't feel guilty, we're all loving it 👍
Thanks duuuude! 😁
Yay Pork Pie reference.
Can't wait to get back and see Milford again (Kiwi living in Aussie), majestical.
The choice of bikes have become characters in the story, you have the cliff hangers down pat. :)
My home town is Oamaru, if you are returning through there, the harbor district is well worth a visit with all the old Victorian buildings in the warehouse area bought back to life as boutique shops, eateries plus whiskey and beer brewing
Haha thanks man! That area is unreal.. such an amazing road to bike on. In retrospect we should have taken the Zero instead of the Triumph, but that would've come with it's own set of complications, like changing the belt on the side of the road.
As a Pom living in Christchurch I feel the same sense of survivors guilt. It makes it hard to share anything without feeling like you are rubbing it in. I've found that when I do share people are just pleased to see it rather than anything else. Well at least that's what they say to me :) Great video, love it down there!
Thanks, Tom! That's great to hear. I really hope the world goes back to normal soon. Gotta smuggle our family and friends over here!
Haven't been to Milford fjord since the nineties thanks you inspired me to go back.loved the pork pie lie too:)
Haha thanks bro! Definitely worth a visit, especially right now when nobody is there.
I appreciate the aquatic geography lesson. I had no idea what either was.
Haha no problem! Neither did we.
No way you should have felt guilty, it's your country, enjoy it to the full without us tourist clogging up the roads with campers and rental cars !👍
Bwahaha thanks :D Great point about camper vans. We barely saw any! It was motorcycling heaven down there.
@@NewZeroland Yeah, bloody camper vans! Just white ones, not orangey-brown ones ;-p
@@jezthomas4402 haha always those classy vdubs stealing the attention!
That Long Way Up burn😂
Hahaha I had to. That was a fun show, but soooo frustrating!
I did a South Island road trip and it was utterly beautiful.
It's the best!! Thanks for watching 😁
Sam, your whole South Island series has been well done. Enjoyed it all, the quality on your vids is great like F9. Also enjoyed it more because until just recently it was too cold with to much snow to even ride here in the Great Lakes area of the US. No need to feel guilty, just make sure to enjoy it again when editing each vid for us.
Wow thanks so much! The F9 guys have serious production value so that means a lot 😁 I'm just a dude with a gopro haha. It's taking forever to edit this stuff (this episode was from Christmas!) but you're right; I'm having a blast going back through the footage and reliving the trip.
I feel the same. I miss Aotearoa like an ache, but these videos are what gets me through.
Having said that, in reply to your "should I feel guilty" monologue, you followed it with the black fly trying to carry you away. I do not miss black fly.
Oh, and you're going around roundabouts the American way now?
Bwahaha well we started on the right side so it felt weird to do a full 360 around the left, but maybe my brain reverted for a second 😂 Can't shake it, 7+ years later.
Great you guys lived it up having an awesome summer staycation in NZ during the pandemic in other parts of the world
Thanks Frank! It was such a cool trip 😁
Another class episode Sam! I am insanely jealous you live in such a beautiful country, but thanks for letting us see it all! The snipe at Long Way Up proper made me giggle! Keep up the good work mate, can't wait for the next installment
Thanks again, Graham! Haha glad you liked this one. That area is unreal and I wish we had more time to hike around. There are a few multi-day walks we want to do eventually. How are things on your side of the globe?
Im still in Brunei! Much like you it's sunny and hot. Fly back to the UK next week, Im actually looking forward to being cold!
@@x75hurricane whoa nice! Have a good trip home 😁
That. Just. Happened!! haha
Bwahaha waterfall powered motorcycle, yo!
Another Epic Video guys. Love the narration. Keep em coming. Subscribed and Notification bell on!
Whoa thanks man! That means a lot 😁 The next few episodes should e interesting.
So many great things in this video. The birdy backpack on the boat was great.
And I’m pretty sure that was an ostrich, I don’t know if it’s a rare New Zealand great grey Emu. 😆
So many incredible views! It is so beautiful and I for one am super grateful you made the trip and shared the experience. I know it’s way in the past but I totally don’t think you should feel bad. You did a very selfless thing by sharing it. So many great references too. The cliffs of insanity!!!
Thanks bro!!! I really appreciate it, and I'm so glad to be able to share this. It's always a mix.. my family wants to see the sights, and my youtube followers want to see the bike, so I tried to balance it out. This is a motorcycle trip, after all! That was definitely an emu, but imported from Australia like the wallabies. Ostriches are bigger and taller, and even meaner.. and tastier haha.
Dude holy crap, you were right! It WAS an ostrich. I watched that clip again and it looked way taller than I remembered, so I checked their site. Yep, ostrich. You called it haha.
Great scenery Sam and I loved the video. Yes rain is horrendous in Milford well Fiordland I mean. As much as the Amazon and more. Invercargill I have been to. A real friendly place to visit but not in winter lol. Freezing cold to say the least and if you get the chance get to Stewart Island. Scenery is amazing to say the least. Poor Triumph oh well I guess we find out it's fate in the next installment. These videos make me feel homesick at the moment. Stay safe from Greater London! Appreciate all your effort and editing. 😊
Thanks again, Gary! Milford was one of the best parts of our trip, and we really liked Invercargill. I'll try and combine the next few days into one episode, so that could be Bluff to Dunedin to Lake Tekapo to Christchurch. We'll see how it goes haha.
Yes, thank you for showing us the scenery we can't see flr ourselves!
Any time, bro! Here's hoping we can open up some kinda bubble between AUS and NZ and you'll be able to see this yourself! I have a few electric motorcycles you can borrow while you're here ;)
@@NewZeroland Wow! That would be amazing! New Zealand is definitely at the top of my travel list.
Awwwwww. Don't feel bad, it's not so bad being locked down in America. Yosemite during the lockdown is awesome as well, it's basically empty. The video is appreciated :D
There are also fewer bugs in Yosemite
@@oulupulu thanks Becky! Have you seen Willie Morris's Zero DSR videos? He rides all around Yosemite and it's making me jealous! That's a beautiful area.
@@NewZeroland I have not seen them yet. Might go to Yosemite this weekend though, I think hotels are open 😄
Really sweet comments at the start when you're concerned about "survivor guilt" and that you're enjoying yourselves while others are in lockdown.
Seriously though, if people resent you for that, it's just unhealthy. I'm so glad that normality continues somewhere and that you both got to enjoy that beautiful landscape and were kind enough to share it. 👍
I'm so itching to ride for pleasure again, but I'll settle for enjoying these beautiful locations through your trip for now.
But boy, is that Triumph stringing it out! 😂
HAHA the Triumph's demise shall be Triumphant 😂 Thanks for the support, as always! I had a feeling you'd all enjoy seeing the views and the bikes, but we definitely felt awkward while we were there. I really hope things go back to normal soon. There are plenty of places in NZ we still haven't been, but I'd love to travel internationally again!
I can forgive you for having an epic journey while the rest of us are locked down. But teaching me things?! That I can't abide.
HAHA pandemic professor Sam is at it again.
Great video series guys, can't wait for the next one! We've talked about moving to NZ one day, and these videos have reinforced that!
Thanks Andrew! If you can pull it off, definitely make the move (when the world opens up again). It's an amazing place to live and travel around :)
Okay that professional duck call
Right?? Donald Duck ain't got nothin' on Jenn.
I'm at work, in a stuffy office in Wellington, watching two people having a great time on bikes. . . yay. Great vid!
Haha hey me too! Just reliving great memories from our holiday trip, wishing we were still down there.
"I charge you...I charge you...I charge you." my favorite line 😂😂
Hahaha Jenn is a crack up 😁
We went to Milford Sound, too. It is breathtaking. And those silly Kea birds were funny. They'd come right up to us begging.
Nice! Haha they're super friendly unless you're a car.
Huge goodbye pork pie fan here......my first trip to the Burt Munro rally I glued a little yellow mini to the top of my helmet......just got back from SI ride sadly didn't stop at the top of crown range to get a pic of ya sticker.......maybe next year.....looking forward to part 7....awesome vids....cheers
Wow that's awesome! Great idea haha. I wish I could have made it to the rally.. hopefully next year. Thanks for watchin!

Ha! 9:45 you rode around that roundabout the wrong way!
Breakin' the lawwwww haha
I really want to do a speed trial through that tunnel. It'd be fun.
Haha you could.. line up first at the lights. They even give you a countdown lol.
"Should I feel guilty for enjoying this beautiful landscape?"
The universe immediately punches you in the face with sandflies. Be happy they didn't sting you because apparently they can cause colossal itches and even welts.
HAHA so true. That wouldn't be the last time the sand flies would attack us! Still a beautiful place 😁
Cool.
😁
Fantastic trip hope one day I will do also.
Thanks! It's a must-visit whenever the world opens up again.
I've always wondered why some inlets are called fjords! The more you know :) That beauty is crazy!!! The same goes for our tourist towns in Canada. Because there isn't as many tourists it's just nicer to be there. Your cliff hangers are killing me... I want to wait for all the vids and binge lol
Hahaha thanks bro! Yeah I'm dying to visit Banff someday. That's high on my Canadian bucket list. Hopefully these vaccines make it safe to open up the world again. I did consider editing all the videos and uploading them at the same time so you guys could binge them, but at the pace I've been editing them, I would have disappeared for months! XD
@@NewZeroland Man you'd love riding through the rockies! I pray you're able to make it out! Hahaha I forgot about editing...
@@ronaldb479 yeah uh.. how's the DC charging infrastructure out there? O_O
@@NewZeroland Umm... Decent I think... I've driven back and fourth from Banff to Vancouver and I have seen charge stations at random rest stops, but I'll have to look at them better to see if it's DC charging.
@@ronaldb479 ooooo this might have to happen then!!
Wow that road before the tunnel is proper steep. Even in the go pro it still shows and those wide angle lenses typically hide that very well. Also finally test rode an energica and totally loved the sound. That tunnel is a good sample
Duuude yeah! Super steep. I was freaking out when we had to stop at the top, because the risk of stalling the Triumph on an incline was high. Which Energica did you ride?? I still love my Ego but I'm dreaming of an Eva Ribelle.
@@NewZeroland the 80kW SS9 with the old 13.4kWh battery and the 107kW Ribelle with 21.5kWh. My ideal combo (and looking into shifting some bikes around to get it) is an SS9+ with the Ribelle handlebars swapped. I didn't like the seat and footpegs on the Ribelle. This was my test video ua-cam.com/video/VWHiJheRtYw/v-deo.html
Beautiful milford scenery aside the $5 can of coke at the info center blew my mind 😂
Oh wow! That's extorsion lol. Maybe I should set up an importing business and deliver soda cans via electric motorcycle.
@@NewZerolandlol excellent vid dude , i was 2 days behind ya on our round trip
@@Mark........ nice!! Sorry about all the rain.
You needed a truck to follow your trip with spare batteries for Jen #LongWayStyle 😆
Next trip down there will definitely be in a Cybertruck!
Your cliffhangers are more suspenseful than some TV shows. I'm rooting for the triumph, but you already said it dies. Part of me hopes that you're pulling a fast one and that the triumph makes it! (also, other than 4 wheels, 4 doors, a battery and electric motors, a Kia Niro doesn't have much in common with Teslas)
Haha thanks man. You're the first one to guess that! Who knows.. maybe the Triumph will survive. And ahh the Niro just has similar range for less price, I guess. It doesn't charge anywhere near as quickly though and definitely isn't as powerful.
Welcome back to New Sultryland
Oh stahp lol
Hi Sam, another great road trip - I’ve been to Norwegian with amazing fjords just like South Island, they are an amazing sight....Merry Christmas
Thanks, Gordon! Glad ya liked it. Haha yeah this video has taken THAT LONG to get to. We finished our trip on the 3rd of January, and I'm still not done editing.
Norway is the only place that rivals our NZ riding that I can say from experience...but only road riding. Off-road we have serious networks! Bring on the long-range electric enduro!
If you ever get the chance, come to Tasmania for a riding holiday.
Very similar landscape, but with lots of Kangaroos and Wombats.
Dude I love Tasmania! That place is motorcycling paradise. You guys have lots of charging stations too.
@@NewZeroland I'm originally from Tassie, but live live all the way on the other side of the country in Perth these days.
There are excellent riding roads of course, but due to the shear size of the state (Western Australia is bigger than most countries) , it's still not very suited to Electric bikes.
Giant desserts don't make for the population density required for lots of charging stations. 😅
Hey, this one tried to sneak by me, but I got here eventually! Looks like you had fun chasin' waterfalls eh? Now you've put the thought in my head that the Triumph really isn't broken and you're going to reveal at the end that you were randomly removing parts of the bike at each stop just to see what would make it stop working.
HAHAHAHA that's so evil.. and perfect >:]
Shrill!
Shrillex
I was in Milford Last week.
Nice! Such a cool place.
Besides your riding information tks for showing your beautiful scenic island. Would be interesting for exploring during one year. But then it would become too small for an European, who is adapted of travelling from Portugal to Greece, from Sicily to Norway.
Though, Id like to spend that year in New Zealand!
Keep going!!
Thanks Manfred! I agree. The size and variety in Europe is unmatched. I feel like you could see everything NZ has in a few months. Time for more road trips!
@@NewZeroland So keep going and show us.
But if you come to Eutope be careful!! Besides Enhgland anybody drives on the „ right“ side of the road. (😀😀😀)
Jen is such a cutie pie
Haha she really is 😁
Hi i like your video
Waterfall.. and power up!
Who knew electricity and water went so well together?
Just saw you had a big quake. Hope you two are safe and doing ok. Post up soon and let your fans know.
Hey thanks for checking in! We're about 600km (400 miles?) south of the quake but still felt it. Those islands up there got hit insanely hard. I'd be surprised if the islands were still there. But yeah, safe and sound in Wellington. Cheers man!
@@NewZeroland Glad to hear it. Coming from CA I'm somewhat used to earthquakes, but 8.1 is insanely large.
@@motoriderj6448 oh yeah man.. the first NZ quake I experienced was a 6.0, really close to Wellington. That was pretty fun, but then we had a 6.9, and the difference was really scary. I can't imagine what 8.1 is like.
@@NewZeroland i would assume fire and brimstone coming down from the skies. Rivers and seas boiling, the dead rising from the grave, human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together - mass hysteria.
In all seriousness, glad you are ok, and hope the people close to the epicenter are doing equally well.

Hahaha thanks bro!! Yeah I need to sort out some custom USBs for the true fans and binge-watchers. I think it'll end up being 10 episodes!
All history now I know , but does the Energica have a 12v system? If so, would it have been possible to use jumper leads to charge the Triumph off the Enrgica while the Energica was charging? Maybe not enough current flow to do the job .
It does! I would need a custom cable made up for it, but it's definitely possible. That's a good idea.
Third... haha close.. but i never will beat Pinareo i guess :p
That tunnel was pretty scarry... But hey... i guessing the Triumph won,t make it back home till the end.
Haha nope.. maybe? We'll have to wait and see. Gas bikes don't survive that long.
