Yeah buddy!! I have 2 DX engines I am building now. I am here in Troy, MO Just got my D3A heads back and am looking for some Victor Reinz head gaskets, and ARP studs. Both of my engines are GM Goodwrench replacement engines. Which are priceless to come by. So thankful to have them, just lucked out upon both of them. Both have the popper micro-injectors, with the DB-2 Roosa-Master pump. I have 3 pumps, all of them have been built and turned up on fuel. Wish there were more people interested in the Olds 5.7 diesel. It actually is a very strong engine, IF one knows how to massage and care for it. That’s the key! All the naysayers out there can say what they want about the Olds diesel, most people tday, we’re not even born when it came out, and have never even seen one in person! I was there when they came out and have enjoyed working on them for 40 plus years! Say what you want…. Every engine needs care…. It was a two way street… blame GM if you want…. Just as much went to the owners as well….. no one knew how to take care of a diesel in a passenger car then, nor did they try…. Neither did the technicians in GM shops. It was and still is…. A dam good engine!
That engine was not a converted Chevy 350 gas engine. It was designed and built from the ground up by Oldsmobile. Besides the second generation DX engine solved the issues of the previous design
@@bobdepaola7828 They used a very heavy duty block with olds big block bearings. the only real problem was with the headbolts. They only used 10 per head and they where stretch to yield. This can be solved with a 150$ set of headstuds. The other problem was water in the fuel. The later version had a water fuel seperator
I could listen to that engine all day and never get bored of it.
i remember as a kid they sounded amazing!

Man I would love to have one of these just to listen to it run.
Love how odd it feels to see these glamorous cars sound like trucks.
Ohhhhh I miss those GM Diesel engines so much, that sound just drives me wild!
This sound is amazing, man !
Great sound :) I have an Oldsmobile Delta 88 2 door from 1978 with the same engine, runs great and good mileage for an landyacht with 6 seats.
Sell it to me
I remember when my grandmother had one it was a 83 caddie with a diesel awasome car and I would like to come see it some time
It's diesel🔥❤️
I would feel so strange pulling up to the diesel pump to fill it up hahahahaha
I cant wait to get my hands on one of these engines. It will be going into an 80s square body chevy 1500.
Melody!!! ❤❤❤❤
Olds V8 Diesel 350 5.7
That is one sweet sounding engine. Is it the original or a Goodwrench 350DX replacement engine?
Goodwrench DX was installed in 1996
@@kylescarfarm That makes it a great diesel car! I love the DX engines!
Apparently the DX engines solved the issues associated with the original engines.
id buy this and show it some love!
STUD IT!!!!! seriously though. theyre gutless, but great afterwards.
Maybe it's me, but I just don't think a luxury car should sound like a garbage truck!
