Super haul Dani, congrats on all plants, they do look beautiful! Yes, Ascocentrum are super prone to produce multiple keikis... and that a huge pro for them, they create bushy specimen and when they flower well... show stoppers :)
YAY - you know I love Vandas! I have to admit that keiki 4&5 on the Ladda Gold worry me, especially the yellowing at the base of some leaves. I hope it's just stressed from transport and will acclimate very soon. I love the fragrance of V. denisoniana, it's absolutely delicious. :)
I have to vanda. One is crostata "Gold Country" x crostata "Sutters Fort". The price was $11 at a show. I won't see any blooms for years on this one as it is small. My other Vanda is a Neostylis Lou Sneary "Bluebird". I bought this one in bloom and its stunning. AND... It smells like honeysuckle. Very good purchase for the price. $10
Hi Dani.. Love your videos as they are very informative. I always check what you post everyday except of course on the weekends.. It's been a week since you last made this one. I am having like a "Ms Orchid video withdrawal".:). I hope you are alright.
Hi Danny! Lovely Vanda collection! I've been learning a lot from you! I wonder if you could advise on how to water the vanda when you're on long holiday, especially in the hot summer time. I live in Germany and it's quite hot here these days. I have my vanda hanging and I soak them like you said everyday. They are doing great! But I'm very worried when I'll be gone for holiday later though. I hope you could share some ideas on this topic. Thanks so much for your work!
I'm not a huge vanda fan because I don't like their foliage as much, and yeah the fact that you only get 1 blooming a year feels...lacking? I mean phalaenopsis species are mostly the same but the spikes being sequential means the more years the better, and I really like their foliage. I want to find a fragrant vanda hybrid that will bloom twice a year or so and I will be happy. I like the Vanda Violeta because it looks kinda like the pachara but it's fragrant, but I'm not sure you can get blooms twice a year, and I'm in no rush. Tons of other orchids higher in my wishlist at the moment :)
Hi Dani
