Totally agree re Carbide. I am a customer but not of their CNC machines, purchasing $500+ of components. I use a Onefinity and carbide create 6.5.2. I cannot upgrade to 7+ because of the lack of g-code. I have stopped purchasing items from them as a direct result
Thanks Anthony -- I'm stuck on 6.x too for the same reasons. I do use Fusion 360 as my daily driver, but I like to make videos on Carbide Create since it's a lot more approachable. Now I can't test any of my creations which means I probably won't make any videos for it anymore :/. Lose/lose for my viewers and the making community IMHO. Thanks for watching!
Excellent & well put. Could not have said it better myself. Unfortunately, I think you are right. The 'writing is on the wall' and the time remaining for truly free software is very limited. The sad thing is that some of the users brought this on and are ruining it for everyone else. Those are the users who are really cheap & tight - always wanting something for nothing and looking to take advantage.
This was a good video! I’m also concerned about Easel’s free version becoming stripped down. Software companies need to make money of course, so no faulting them there, but it really disrupts workflows when the software becomes suddenly stripped down like that. Cricut and Filmora tried similar stunts recently, and it’s not a trend that’s going away I’m sure.
I cannot agree more with your assessment video. As a beginner CNC it takes a huge effort to learn the complete process, then to find out that some of the features are gone under a paywall.
Yeah, it's really frustrating for me. Especially since I bounce between various packages. On the plus side, I guess I have fewer packages to stay up to date on?? 🤷♂️🤦♂️😬 Thanks for watching!
short Microsoft windows history. The original purpose of windows OS according to bill gates when he first put out the operating system was. it was to be a tool for anyone to create the software/ tools they need/want. Now its just a sales platform not for the end user anymore. corps have took this over.
Thanks Stomp! Great points. I am truly mystified where Windows has gone over the last 5 years. I never liked it, but now I won't touch it unless required.
Yes, you are a customer. Not a paying customer, but a customer nonetheless. That said, I personally have patronized all the companies in various ways - that is how I choose to contribute to their choice of providing valuable free software to their customers. Thanks for watching!

Thanks! And I hope we're both wrong -- only time will tell. Thanks for watching!

Thanks Allen -- completely agree. And I don't think it's going away -- sadly.

Verry good 😂😂❤
Thanks Ben!
I wish that FREECAD was EASY to learn & use
I've heard the same from others -- give one of the alternatives a try! Thanks for watching.

If all you use is free stuff, are you really a customer?
