    🎨 EDWARD SEAGO 🎨
Edward Seago was an English painter, working mainly in oils and watercolors. He does a kind of impressionistic style that I love.
His oils are incredibly beautiful, but his watercolors are what really surprised me.
He has this way of achieving a very interesting composition and level of details, without actually including lots of details.
I was actually shocked at "how little" information most of his paintings actually contain.
His most beautiful oils in my opinion are the ones made in the Antarctic.
    🎨 TALKING POINTS & OBSERVATIONS 🎨
    1. Simple composition that works really well.
He placed the areas of interest around the thirds of the painting.
Also, he placed two large areas of contrast to the sides.
    2. Great lead-in into the painting, by that tree on the left.
You are invited into the painting, and are then led all the way to the main point of interest on the hill.
    3. A sense of distance and a variety of values.
Soft colors and weak values in the mid-ground and background, that then turn darker and stronger in the foreground.
    4. Great simplification.
He was really able to "dumb-down" the scene and its components. Check out the houses on the shore of this lake.
    5. Strong point of contrast to the left & beautiful negative painting around the tree branches.
    6. I'm very interested in the actual work process. I believe this was done in 2 layers (with heavy wet-in-wets in the second layer).
There may also be a third layer, though I can't say with certainty, and I don't see a need for it.
His genius really allowed him to paint this complex scene using very few details and layers.
    🎨 CONCLUSION 🎨
