- A selection of paintings by EDWARD SEAGO, 1910-1974. All but one of these paintings depict the flat landscape of East Anglia, an English region north of London, comprising Norfolk, Suffolk and the northern part of Essex. Although Seago painted in many areas of Britain (and also in Europe) he is most closely associated with East Anglia. Seago suffered chronic ill health for most of his life and died at the relatively young age of 64.
The music I have chosen to accompany these pictures is the 'Cavatina' from Vaughan Williams' Eighth Symphony, Where possible I tried to match Seago's images to the shifting moods of this beautiful but melancholy music.
What a great Artist and a wonderful style of painting. Thank you. ❤️
I know this is a relatively old video, but the wonderful paintings of Seago are timeless and the music of Vaughan Williams matched them beautifully. Thanks for sharing
In moving a few days ago, I discovered two of his books inscripted to my Mum, who died last year at 99. I read Tidelines cover to cover one night, then found the WW2 book. What an amazing artist. Now I truly understand why Mum always said that she so wished she could paint. He is a true master.
A lovely way to spend ten minutes. Many thanks.
Seago's impressionistic style captures brilliantly the atmosphere of the East Anglian countryside. I love his paintings as I do the music of RVW. This is therefore for me the perfect combination. Many thanks.
stunning film - will watch repeatedly
Thank you for this film. I absolutely enjoyed watching it. Seago is one of my favourite artists. What a talented man!
Love Edward Seago's Painting's. Never heard of him till now.He is similar to Elioth Gruner. From the same era but from Australia. Thank You Colin,Regards Terry
Thank you very much, Colin. It speaks to my soul and I'm not sure why being born and bred South African. Leaves me feeling sad - but it's beautiful and I love it.
Beautiful video of beautiful paintings AND with beautiful music! Thank you
You put together a stunning video. I will be watching this many times in the future. I know it will inspire my work. Than you again.
Thank you Colin. A nice selection. Seago was one of our greatest. This short video is a serendipitous treasure.

One of my all time favourites. Cheers for the lovely film.
Good to hear you enjoyed it Roob!
I like the way you lingered on each picture, not just a three second view and on to the next, lovely paintings
beautiful paintings great atmosphere
karya lukisan yg sangat luar biasa..
An enormous pleasure to watch this sequence of paintings to the accompaniment of RVW. The master of English music and the master of English landscape painting in perfect combination. I am an admirer of both. Thank you for bringing the two together. Your video is a gem.
+Charles Peterson Glad you enjoyed it and thought it was effective Charles. Thanks also for taking time to comment.
I have long been an admirer of the work of the late Edward Seago and the atmosphere he created in his paintings. This video provides a superb fusion of the music of Ralph Vaughan Williams and the images of Seago so brilliantly put together by Colin.
Richard A Morgan
+Richard Morgan Sincere thanks to you, Richard, for your kind and appreciative remarks. Both Seago and RVW remain undervalued English artists, I think.
Glad you enjoyed it Mars. It's nice to know that Seago is known and admired in the USA!
Colin uyyyy
A wonderful job! The paintings and the music complement one another beautifully. Seago's work (new to me, I must admit) is so loose that it almost looks more like watercolor paintings than oil.
Your right on, Seago was a wonderful watercolorists but it is his loose "style" oils he was renowned for. He painted quickly and none of these took more than perhaps 4 hours. An oil painter who paints like a watercolorists. To think that this man's art is hardly known...least of all by art schools here in my home of the United States! A pity.
PS Thanks for posting this moving vid 27 !!!
Superb. A very great painter - and a wonderful piece of music. 10 minutes of pure pleasure. Thank you. I shall subscribe in the hope of finding more of this..
Thanks, Charles, so glad you enjoyed both aspects of the video. There is similar material on my channel, which i hope you'll einvestigate and enjoy.
I've taken a look at your channel and much look forward to all of it. You must be a painter, as well as a music lover. Seago was a master, the equal and indeed superior to many Impressionists, but born a 100 years or so later of course. I found paintings in your video I had never seen before. Thanks again.
Yes, I do paint a little Charles! I hope you'll give me some feedback on my other things, if you have time. You're right; Seago was a great master and much of his work was done in East Anglia, where I happen to live and his influence can be seen in the work of contemporary local landscape painters.
