Mambazha Pulissery - A traditional Kerala-style sweet and sour curry prepared with ripe mangoes simmered in the coconut yogurt sauce.Mambazha pulissery is one of the popular pulissery recipes from God’s own country, Kerala. It’s a part of the festive menu, be it Vishu(New Year) or Onam. Mambazham means mango, and pulissery means sour curry. Some call this moru curry too.
We love this mango pulissery, and it is one of the staples during the mango season. The tempering with coconut oil adds that unique and distinct flavor to this recipe.
Ingredients
mango-5nos
coconut-1cup
garlic-2nos
shallot-2nos
cuminseeds-1tsp
turmericpowder-1/4tsp
kashmeeri chillypowder-1tsp
Asafoetida -1/4tsp
greenchilly -5nos
curryleaves
jaggery -1tbsp
curd-1/2ltr
coconut oil-2tbsp
fried fenugreek powder-1tsp
outer skin of mango to be removed and put it in a clay pot. then add turmeric powder, kashmeerichilly powder, greenchilly and curryleaves to it and cook it well with water and salt.
then put coconut shallot garlic and cuminseed to a mixi jar and grind it.
add it to the cooked mango and mix it well.when mango start boiling add curd to it and mix it well. than add fried fenugreek powder and melted jaggery to it and mix it well.place a pan and add coconut oil to it and mustard to it. then curryleaves and dry chilly to it fry it well and pour it to the curry and mix well.
