The Eminence speaker Rocks it stays nice and clean but with the pedal I liked the little gritty sound it had but there both very nice speakers thanks for the video Shane.
Your "whew" says it all. The Creamback nails it. Much better response overall. The Eminence sounds midrangey and muddy. I'm looking for a replacement speaker for my own USA Blues Deluxe after blowing the original Eminence which I really used to love, but I think the CB will do. Your demo came in handy. Thanks!
Great tones, Shane. I've never heard a Blues Deluxe sound so good. The Creamback sounds so boutique. The Eminence seems to capture the essence of an American sound, kind of rawer. I definitely prefer the balance and harmonic overtones from the Creamback. It sounds more alive and detailed, but the Eminence sounds good too. Nice playing! I've been searching for vids comparing clean tones on 12" speakers and you're nailing that.
Hi there. Well I liked both of them actually. But one of them got me moore hooked. The creamback. It had that clarity more sound from the string that I like so much. The swamp thang is also nice but a bit more closed I think. So I think a creamback would do the thing in my amp. All the best and thanks for a great test.
Found this vid as I was researching what speakers I want to put in my 2x12 cab. The Swamp Thang has that Texas Blues sound nailed when playing the neck pickup. It's exactly the sound I'm looking for. However, the Celestion handles the bridge tones with a level of clarity that is unmatched. As always, it's a trade-off. Both are fantastic speakers and it really depends on your use case. I think I'm going to wind up putting a Texas Heat and a Swamp thang in my 2x12 as I loved the sound of them together in your other demo. The 65w RMS rating for the Celestion is a pretty big difference from the 150w on the eminences as well. Might be a big deal for some depending on the application.
Thanks for the very good demo featuring creamback 65 ( too much over drive for me on most vids using them). I like the creamback better for its increased low/mids while retaining articulate highs. Stands out with dimension a little better, IMO.
Great video. I was really considering the Eminence until I watched this video and now I am going to get the Celestion. I think the Creamback is better in just about every way. It sounds like more of an "audiophile" speaker. Thanks for posting.
Late to this party. Thanks for great comparison. To my ears the cream back is a little softer at the edges in a good way. Swamp thing has a harder cleaner sound. Both sound great but I go celestion for classic British crunch! But I really like your playing Shane with that very clean sound on the Swamp Thang.
I like both. Great demo. I have a pair of swamp thangs in a custom cab. I admit I haven't pushed them to their full potential since I'm running a 5 watt h&k tubemeister through them.
Loved the creamback. Much more musical, more even tones and a bit more transparant. I was into hearing the swamp thang but have to say I was dissapointed and will not be buying one. But thanks for a super informational demo!
I like the lows and mids of the Eminence , The Creamback top end was really nice! Both Nice Speakers! Just ordered two Eminence Swamp Thang to run My Ceriatonr overtone special!
just got s swamp thang and a Texas heat in my Kustom combo hv hybrid amp it and these speakers together are Majic over the cheap Rockets I replaced. . Made in USA Kentucky and that's we're my money will always go for custom speakers the Swamp has some huge bottom push it's badass lol!
Well recorded and very useful. The differences can be heard. I prefer the Eminence because I like a certain kind of rock, but You can't be wrong choosing the Celestion. Only a matter of taste.
Creamback for me, seemed to hold a consistemnt tone and sounded more my style with the OD. The Swamp Thang was pretty thick and got thicker with the OD. Both sound great and it really comes down to personal preference. I'm just gonna slam it with an OD and Super Fuzz anyway. 😂😂🤘
Cream Back!!!! Wow!!! I saw your hot rod deluxe shootout, and I'm buying one. But the speakers tested left me a bit confused. The tweed one sounded awesome, but the greenback, well not so much. This cream back however, is amazing tone.
I always understand why I am a Celestion die-hard. Whenever I hear one of them matched against any other speaker, I am always taken back by the tone depth, fullness and bouquet of sound that emits from the Celestion. Still the Eminence have their place for those who like them and I appreciate that we have a variety of brands to chose from.
This is what I'm thinking. I've got an old Laney VC30 and a matching cab. Was going to stick an Eminence in the cab and then cut down the amp to just a head (getting too old for lugging these back-breaking things around). But now I'm thinking maybe a Celestion Neo in the amp would give me the best of both worlds (and make it lighter). Hmm… Just wish I had more money. By the way, I know what you mean about the Soul Food (although I'm a Crayon man myself), but have you heard the MXR mini booster (with the built EchoPlex)? Oh man, it makes an amp sing!
I swapped the Jenson for a Celestion Creamback in my Fender Tonemaster Reverb. Fantastic sounds and presence. My Jazzmaster, with Kinmann PU’s, sounds like a customshop! I had to adjust my Strymon Sunset to 7” o’clock iso 12”. My Strymon Digid is almost like stereo! WOW!
Definitely prefer the Creamback. Although I think they could sound really great double tracked in a mix. One with Creamback and one with Swamp Thang and hard pan.
Swamp thing clean, but then it sounds a little too dark with drive, which is where the creamback sounds better. This is the problem I’m having:finding a speaker I like for both
Nice job Shane. I felt the Creamback was a bit darker sounding more bass. I have seen some guys do speaker comparisons and they go right to the metal or overdrive sounds. I liked what you did clean showing all pickup combos then to overdrive showing all pickup combinations. Not to mention those licks man ... they were dope!

I think the Swamp Thang might be too dark when trying to cut through bass and drums. Great demo. 👍
Great comparison! I'm picking up a Creamback M tomorrow and can't wait. I'm pretty unimpressed with the Swamp Thang, I hear lots of good things about them but finding they sound kinda dull. Tasty playing on that Tele!
I liked the Creamback better clean, more bright & lively, but the Swamp Thang sounded fuller and more "Fender-ish" on dirty mode. I'd be interested to hear one of each in a 2 speaker enclosure.
I agree that the Celestion was warmer and the Eminence had a bit more brightness. I think it comes down to what 'your sound' is. As for overall sound, the Cremeback was more pleasing to listen to.
Brilliant comparison! The eminence lows, mids and highs were really balanced maybe a little compressed when compared to the Creamback which had a more lively sparkle. You seemed to enjoy the Creamback moŕe?? I actually enjoyed your "musicallity" playing through the Eminence! What strange contrary ears we all have! Basically, the ST is an American voiced speaker and CB is a British voiced speaker. Clean, both are very appealing. Dirty, most people prefer British voiced speakers.
Im thinking about pairing one Blues deluxe with a cream back and one with an Alnico Cream in a stereo rig. Do you think it's a good decision? I still don't know if I put the alnico gold or the cream in the other one. I like the cream better overall but the cream back and cream are both very mid heavy and maybe the cream back pairs better with the alnico gold because I think its a little more open and transparent...
I’m liking the Creamback. Have you tried any WGS speakers in the Blues Deluxe. I have a non-reissue that I’m trying to fit with a new speaker. Any suggestions?
Swamp Thang does the big Fender clean thing like it was made for it, but without a doubt the Creamback works better with drive. Between those two I'd probably go with Creamback because it still sounds nice clean, with a bit more mid push than the ST. I'm actually considering the Creamback for a Deluxe Reverb build, but probably the alnico version.
Was thinking about swapping out my G12 M Creamback in my Splawn with an Eminence speaker, but man that Creamback in your vid sounds great! Sometimes what you already have is just fine. :)
Wow the Creamback has a depth and presence you can hear right away.

I wonder how a Eminence Legend GB128 vs this creamback would sound.
Now THAT sounds like it would be a killer comparison!!!
I couldn't help but wonder if those hollow clay tubes behind the Creamback were scooping it a bit or something....
Thank you Shane! What would be your first pick for a blues junior currently?

@@intheblues Cheers! Following you from sunny Madrid
I thought they are very similar. If you are about name go with celestion, for price and tone quality go with eminence
I felt like the Swamp Thang had more definition, not quite as "warm" sounding as the cream back but not in a bad way..
That’s how I hear it. Bigger magnet and higher wattage on the Eminence might be the reason. Creamback has an a Medium magnet.
Creamback wins. And I'm a huge Eminence fan.
Definitely the Creamback!!
Was thinking about swapping out my G12 M Creamback in my Splawn with an Eminence speaker, but man that Creamback in your vid sounds great! Sometimes what you already have is just fine. :)
I can’t believe people prefer the creamback. The Swamp Thang sounds so much better to me.
the swamp wins for me. What about the eminence red white blue? Thanks for all!!!!!
Most speaker comparisons are negligible at most but big differences here. May update my tone master to cream back like the new edition
