I live on Prince Edward Island - a small Canadian province in the Gulf of St. Lawrence. It's very rural so there's regular dairy cows everywhere. About ten miles away from me this Amish farm has Italian buffalo which look exotic enough for here in Atlantic Canada. And this other farm has miniature Irish cows, a very ancient breed of very small cows that were kept indoors at night for warmth. And then there's Buffaloland Park, about ten minutes from my house. For some reason years ago Alberta gave a herd of prairie buffalo to the island. Recently, if you can believe this, the province decided to get rid of them - just kill them and sell the meat. We have a huge Buddhist monastery in the neighborhood (mainly Taiwanese Buddhist monks and nuns) and they bought it. I drive by the buffalo park all the time and two years ago I pulled up to the big fence to check out all the new calves and the huge alpha bull came walking slowly over to me followed by the alpha female. He came right up to the fence and they are big - taller than me and I'm six feet tall. The amazing thing was he let me scratch his head. I walked back alongside the fence and he just stood there watching me, like some creature from the Late Pleistocene.
You just impressed by these bison no doubt they are beast but what about if you stand in front of GAUR the Asian bison specially wild and easily seems their huge muscle looks like they doing bodybuilding but it's natural so that's what I am thinking and I know your brilliant guy you already know I hope you make gaur skull talk or any kind info video ok and love you bro love your passion
the extinction event that wiped out the steppe bison, those 4 species of mammoths, the giant ground sloths, the smilodons and the cave lions nearly wiped us at too. But, those prehistoric humans persevered, and thankfully we are here
Actually, that is false, bison and aurochsen are separate genera, there are four recognized species of aurochs being the †Long-Horned Aurochs (Bos acutifrons), the †Eritrean Aurochs (Bos buaiensis), the Paleotropical Aurochs (Bos namadicus (cladistically including the Zebu (Bos namadicus indicus))), and the Palearctic Aurochs (Bos primigenius (cladistically including the Domestic Cattle (Bos primigenius taurus))), while there are fifteen recognized species of bison being the †Iberian Bison (Bison voigtstendtensis), the †Menner's Bison (Bison menneri), the European Bison (Bison bonasus), the †Italian Bison (Bison deguilii), the †Taman Bison (Bison tamanensis), the †Georgian Bison (Bison georicus), the †Caucasian Bison (Bison caucasicus), the †Bengal Bison (Bison sivalensis), the †Steppe Bison (Bison priscus), the †Chinese Bison (Bison palaeosinensis), the †Siberian Bison (Bison schoetensacki), the †Antique Bison (Bison antiquus), the †Occidental Bison (Bison occidentalis), the †Long-Horned Bison (Bison latifrons), and the American Bison (Bison bison), aurochsen (genus Bos) and bison (genus Bison) are both part of the subtribe Bovina (True Cattle), but bison (genus Bison) are specifically more closely related to the Yak (Poephagus grunniens).
Sergei you have inspired me on wildlife & what it is about as a whole
These are just absolute units
Bison were very common in prehistoric times Not just North America but Europe as well but now in Europe they are a rare species
Beautiful! Thank you for sharing!

, the family of bovidae & cervidae
Imagine the return of the Big cats to Europe. Not so sure it would be positive though lol
Yea I wish lions were in Europe still
Yeah it would be cool but the ancient Romans killed their babies and all. I hope scientists clone cave lions and other species of big cats.
I've heard that European Bison were descended from a hybrid of Steppe Bison and Aurochs is that true?
Yes
Wow. Hey has anyone mated an american bison with a european bison?

Time to Pleistocene rewild our God’s green earth before it’s too late.
