The Belgrano, Conqueror and Lowestoft. What is the connection?

  • What is the connection between the General Belgrano, HMS Conqueror and HMS Lowestoft and what has it to do with a window cleaner? Well there is a remarkable connection and a surprising coincidence at the end so I will not give it away here but watch til the end in the video and all will become clear.

    Thats a really interesting story Wagga. I have a similar little story. My grandad served on the HMS Arethusa in WW2. About 7 years after he died, I started a window round and one of my first customers turned out to be one of his crewmates. Small world eh? . Keep the stories coming.

    I was on the Conqueror when we sank the Lowestoft in '86 🙂

      That's quite amazing. I already met the rating that actually pressed the button to release the torpedo quite by chance whilst I was chatting to him in Newton Aycliffe in Co. Durham. So many amazing coincidences. You probably knew him. All a long time ago lol.

      @@MyWagga Can you remember his name? I remember hearing the explosion and the sound of it sinking. The RAF were hanging around to use it as target practice for their guns, but the ship broke in half and sank in a few minutes!
