Start with frying onions, and your peppers(green, red, yellow) with spices like paprika, curry powder, onion, coriander, garlic powder. Add your lentils, you can also add chicken/vegetable stock. Cook for 20-25 min and finish off with the coconut cream
Hey Thrifty Mama. Just another saving tip seeing as you buy Woolies meat, they used to, don’t know about recently, mark down 30% or more on meat that’s approaching sell by date you should go in the evenings usually after 5.
Good day, I'm a new subscriber, love your channel and advice❤ what do you mean when you say add salt to dishwashing liquid and washing powder? Please consider a tutorial on this. Thanks. Stay blessed
Hi Louise, yes will do a tutorial. I half my dish liquid and add salt and water to make it go a long way. So 1 bottle ends up being 2, especially because my kids wash the dishes and usually use more than necessary.
The veggies are for the month. Some items I bought extra for other months. I I went on another grocery trip that I didn't record so all in all I am sorted till end of January next year i will only need to buy produce and meat.
Welcome to the family, so blessed to have you. Spent R1005 at Woolies, R3300 Makro and R680 at the Tswane market R5000 rounded off on the food I showed. And an additional R700 for meat.
Only with eggs and whole milk some weeks I don't have to. I usually buy more than I need and have been doing it for 2 years, so when i buy groceries i'm typically not out of a lot of things. My freezer is stocked with fruits, meat and veggies of previous months.
I haven’t been home since 2014, things were a lot cheaper then. I am planning to visit and hoping to buy groceries for family and relatives, my dear Sister I am just curious how much does it cost for a basic month’s worth of groceries these days?
Hey sis, things have gone up significantly. It obviously depends on family size. I budget 6K monthly for a family of 6. I usually use 10 percentage of my grocery budget to bulk buy especially when I see items on sale.
I've never considered us to be a homesteading family, but it is our goal. We have 2 pecan trees, a lemon tree, blackberry tree, apricot tree and a veggie garden that we planning on expanding since we have a huge yard. We would also love to get chickens this year. We in the early stages I suppose. I buy produce in bulk as a way of preparing myself for a bountiful harvest, by canning and preserving.
