I got mine for free from my brother, I did a little set up work, changed around pots to some less crappy ones and it plays almost as good as an american. I've gotta admit I do love the satin neck
Got this for my kid as his first electric guitar. He was the only 3rd grader in band (all other kids were 4-6 grade) and the school loaned him a Squier Sonic Strat but he wanted his own and he loves the look of the tele. Got it in baby blue. This video helped know that i had made a good purchase. Thanks! The kid is pretty good already and he loves 60 to early 2000s rock so I can't complain!
I just bought a 2022 Affinity Telecaster and I just love this guitar!! I previously owned 2 Affinity Telecasters and i sold them. They were nice guitars but this model is just fantastic. Squier upgraded their Affinity models and definitely I’m keeping this guitar
The Affinity Telecaster and the Affinity jazz bass are usually the cream of the crop when it comes to the Affinity series, I've had one of each and they are really good guitars
I recently got one of these second-hand for £120 with strap and new strings. I had zero expectations but I'm absolutely blown-away by just how good this thing plays and sounds.
I just bought one for an unbelievable price from ProAudioStar, and I don't think this is a beginner guitar at all. I have a Parker Fly, a PRS SE, and Anderson Hollow T, and a G&L, so I know high quality guitars, and this one is. It's light, looks good, and plays well. I lowered the action a little, and I'd take it to a gig, without hesitation. I love it.
I agree with you. I sold my two previous Affinity Telecasters. One was a 2003 model and the other was a 2010 one. They were nice guitars but i just bought a 2022 model and definitely I’m keeping this guitar because it doesn’t feel like a beginner guitar at all. It’s great!!!
After a lot of post-Christmas hunting, with inventory vanishing from stores even as I looked them up online, I finally went into the store with an Affinity Telecaster in mind (that is the best I can afford at this point). I expected to come home with butterscotch, but ended up having to order, and wait six days for, a 3 colour sunburst with a black pick guard. It arrived in perfect tune, and so far has stayed in tune while I explore and learn the fret board. The fret ends are a bit rough but I can find no other flaw. The finish is so beautiful that I've realized it will cause me anguish when it finally gets a scratch, which might make a lot of guitarists laugh, and I know I have to get over that. (Possibly in future I should stick to plain, or used, guitars.) Anyway, as a beginner, I'm very pleased with the Squier Affinity Telecaster as my first electric guitar.
Picked mine up last week and just upgraded it with a Wilkinson alnico 5 in the bridge and a pre-loaded control plate that came with big 250k pots, better 3-way switch and an orange drop resistor. I think it was around $55 or so in total for the parts. The affinity series impressed me right off the bat, but these super affordable, simple upgrades I did took the guitar to a completely different level
I have the Fender Player Telecaster made in 2018 and its alder body is too heavy and I just ordered a squier affinity tele thineline for llightweight. I immediately regretted because they are so many different contemporary design available and I didn't take the opportunity to switch things up. Fortunately, after hunting for the best "modern" guitar for a whole day, and then clicking into your video, I'm 100% convinced that there is not a thing that can replace a tele and I should be happy with it :)
Just got one in surf green and it's awesome right out of the box. Action is a little high, but I am not going to change it because it's perfect for slide. My plan is to convert it to an Esquire, but right now I'm digging the stock pick ups. Surprisingly great quality for the price.
I picked one up. Dressed and rolled the frets, put a set of fender 64s in and upgraded the wiring and pots and now it kills. I haven't touched my American strat in weeks
There has been a major upgrade in the quality of squire. Do still think it varies from guitar to guitar. Have an older Jagmaster that's awesome. Just got the Telecaster deluxe. Took only minor setup and it's fine. These new Telecasters are by far worth more than they're asking.
I've come so close to ordering this just for the value alone...great guitar..may need minor setup but seeing tons of positive thoughts about it..look forward to playing one...
it really is ridiculous... im not one to say that all value guitars are perfect or incredible but ill tell you this is one of the most shocking to me.and the set up came amazing right out of the box
I'd like to play like 90s alt rock bands: Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead, Nirvana, Arctic Monkeys. I like the Telecater but they tell me that the strat is better for those sounds. What do you recommend me? Tele has me in love aesthetically.
I have a les paul classic and an ltd strat but I bought one of these last week, for the money it sounds just a tele!!! I did sand the back of the neck because there were slightly rough patches and I put lemon oil on the fretboard and lastly put a set of Ernie balls on it and it sounds just great!!! This third guitar gives me the three different sounds you would expect from the three guitars!! For the money you just cannot go wrong with this tele😀🎵🎵🎵🎸
I’ve been wanting a Tele to perform with and I want to use my strat to practice, and I was wondering if this would be a good pick compared to a vibe or fender player.
How good is the Squier Affinity Tele? MUCH better than it deserves to be for the price! Really, all non-vintage Telecasters should come with a "gut cut" & a 6-saddle bridge. Ceramic pups do no harm to a Tele either imho.
That little dancing girl effect you did had me dying. Permission to steal that (I'll totally credit you)? Isn't it crazy how much value you get for lower priced guitars nowadays? I remember my first fender squier from like 2006-2007. It was aight...but nothing like what they make today.
Hey!! Thanks for the review! I'm a beginner looking for his first guitar, and I am mainly interested in "clean" genres, such as indie-pop/rock, pop (coldplay), 80s and bit of jazz. I'm basically choosing between the squier affinity telecaster and the Ibanez GSA60 rio. What do you recommend?
@@jimmyfranklin Thanks, so you basically say that it does not matter, or is one better than the other? And in case you recommend the telecaster, do you recommend a Chinese one or an Indonesian one?
The Affinity, Classic Vibe, and Vintage modified guitars are such good value. If the setup is identical to the custom shop job, then it will feel the same. That is logical, there is NO magic. Pickups are a matter of taste. After 60 years playing, I no longer have any big name guitars, but I have a large collection of modified instruments that cost $500 - $1000, including the mods.. Acoustics are a different thing, I have Taylors, coz they need to be good from day one. But solid electrics are as good as the setup.
@@jimmyfranklin I guess regarding the cab settings and stomp boxes, (which the signal is going thru) is what I mean since how you have it routed and set impacts the tone you are producing.

Nice Tele, but at 11:58 as in where's the beef, where's the DANNY GATTON SPANKY GOOD OL' TWANG? Maybe not just pickups but also the rosewood board inhibits this -- your playing is great.
i have the Squire Affinity guitar i upgraded it with byo twisited pickups and i liked it until i buoght a Bad Cat tele and it blowed my Squire tele away
You Sir, obviously haven’t come across a Squier ‘51. IT is actually thee most versatile guitar as far as having the most range of tones, hands down. Get one. You’ll do what I did……”Where the hell this this been & what took me soooooo long to find you?”. It WILL, do everything, literally. You’ll see. Or you won’t listen & you’ll never know. It’s a full fledged funky fun strange sleeper trippy top notch gooey good vibe mama-shaking machine-o-matic. Party on. 🤘🏼🎸🔥
I have 2 ‘51s and, though I like them, I REALLY think the Player Plus Nashville Telecaster with the S1 switch is THE most versatile guitar I have ever owned (and I currently have about 30…). It has 7 different pickup combinations. It does everything a Tele can do, everything a Strat can do, (except the whammy bar) and there’s no 60 cycle hum. I also have a Player Plus Strat with a PP Tele pickup in the bridge, which is just as versatile. Other than the neck pickup, they sound identical.
I got mine for free from my brother, I did a little set up work, changed around pots to some less crappy ones and it plays almost as good as an american. I've gotta admit I do love the satin neck

This is such a glowing review. I want this as a project. Upgrade some stuff and make it fit my needs. But without dropping $2000

I brought mine used in a butterscotch colour. Must say it’s pretty impressive. Haven’t played my high end Les Paul epiphone or my Ibanez in ages.
Makes you wonder why anyone needs a 3,000 dollar solid body guitar. Great pickin' !
I picked one up. Dressed and rolled the frets, put a set of fender 64s in and upgraded the wiring and pots and now it kills. I haven't touched my American strat in weeks
I just bought the sunburst Affinity, can't wait for it to turn up.
I’ve ordered this exact guitar, it proves one thing after seeing you play, it’s the player not the guitar as such.
Love the warmth of the ceramic pickups. But they tend to have issues when you turn the gain way up.

I have this and absolutely love it. I am not sure if I want the Player Tele (which I found on a great deal). Decisions...
Muy lindo video !!!!
I have a 2018 player telecaster and I don't get hum
This tele colour reminds me at the Mick Ronson's Telecaster at the Freddie Mercury tribute. Is It the same colour?

agreed! great intonation and solid comfort!!
Wow the affinity holds its own nicely
Is the maple neck version of this as good?
But what pedal/amp are you using...
Do you think these ceramic pickups are louder than alnico 5 ?
Ahh thanks man, only two or four more days to get mine
Tabs on that funk riff please! Cheers man!
Excellent demonstration and I suspect you have just sold a few more Teles

No processing! Even though there is technology involved, it’s still a basic amp into cab and a few stomp boxes. No other EQ or mastering done at all.
