I was hoping you would do a video on David Niven’s grave, and you did! His death was so sad, only his daughter was with him at the end. She apparently rang Roger Moore, then in the south of France, on the immediate death of her father, and he and his daughter, drove straight to Switzerland to help her organise the funeral. A long drive during the night! Roger wrote about it in his book, and yes, he wasn‘t particularly fond of Niven‘s wife either. David was one of the all time greats of British cinema, and some American, and one of my idols in my younger days. Loved his book too, full of good British humour. Thanks for all these videos, and just love Switzerland!🇦🇺
Thanks for sharing those details.

Thanks Tim. I had planned to but it was a nightmare to locate online and I didn't have time to find it when i was there as i had another video planned. An excuse to go back one day maybe
@@LTJones Great video, Beautiful location , thanks again.
It's great Hollywood embraced many British actors early on, Cary Grant, Leslie Banks, Vivien Leigh.
Thanks Tom

Thank you LT Jones🙏🙏🙏
Loved him in the guns of naveronne
Thanks for watching GV
Thanks for the video. Was the area easy to walk around? Did you base yourself in Chateau Dóex or elsewhere? Oh just one thing I noticed - I believe the wreath from the porters at Heathrow would have been for his memorial service in London and not for the funeral service in Chateau Dóex
Hi, I took the train there from Montreaux. I think it took 1.5 hours at the most. It's not a big town, you can walk around it all
@@LTJones Thanks!
Ble wyt ti'n cael yr arian i wneud hyn? Ti'n globe trotting oil exec? Ti am rhywun i cario dy bags? (gwaith gret, pob hwyl).
Dwi wedi bod yn lwcus cael ambell i fideo sy'n cael lot o views, mae hynny wedi helpu. Diolch yn fawr
The tombstones displaced and set up along the fence looked like they had Hebrew writing...so perhaps the Nazi's uprooted them when annexing Austria...and they were saved and then set up in the cemetery after the war ended. Not knowing where they belonged gravesite wise, they were places along the fence? Just a theory. And the rocks placed on David's grave were obviously left by Jewish mourners. Jewish people leave small stones on graves as a sign of remembrance and respect.
*his second wife seemed like a real crunt...without the r. Pfft.
Thanks for watching
@denisesf5 This is Switzerland not Austria. The Nazis never annexed Switzerland.
