I love the simplicity in their music. It's not over the top,it touches your soul. I love how the bassplayer is doing what she supposed to do,PLAY BASS!! And her tone is perfect and it's needed in today's music. No unnecessary licks,over-the-top slapping and popping, just a smooth ass bassline for a smooth ass band!!!
This band blew me away when I watched their NPR Tiny Desk concert. I was like "Yea alright, I'll try a new group". Click... 5 minutes in I couldn't believe I was just sitting there watching them, like seeing a phenomenal movie for the first time knowing nothing about it. Incredible thought, care and simplicity evoked in their writing and playing.
I listened to that same NPR TinyDesk Concert just two weeks ago and I can’t believe I have missed out on them for the last 5-6 years. I realize now they’ve been coming up in my UA-cam recommendations for about a year now.
What i love about this version is they seem to get the balance so perfect between the 3 instruments. one doesn't dominate over the other at any point. they all drive and contribute to the track in their own way
I'd normally share your distrust to suspiciously perfect live recordings, but this kinda sounds legit to me - simple enough to not require patching with overdubs, just some good playing and shitload of reverb on guitar, vocals and snare drum. Really pleasant music anyway.
Funny how every live performance of this song sounds pretty much the same. To me that means there wasn’t any post production mastering. You can achieve great tone through proper micing
they record live in studio, and then do overdubbing... very old school, instead of split off. Obviously their recordings sound very organic, but you need many many many hours of rehearsing in order to achieve tightness. And that's why they sound so good live, because of rehearsal hours
there was a point during 2018 when i literally couldn't stop listening to this song. something so magical about it, hard to explain what that is though

For really real ... God bless you guys. One of the best songs I've heard in a whole minute. Reminds me of good times already almost a year since I've heard it. To get this feel is hard to do in a song. Such a great groove. You can feel it has a warm loving feel to it. Much love from Abilene, Tejas
Just discovered this trio a few days ago and I love them. Read lots of comments all over yt. Their sound is like some of almost every Jazz Fusion album I have in my LP collection from the 70's through the 80's. Chick Corea, Al DiMeola, Jean Luc Ponty come to mind instantly but also many others like Bob James and most everyone who recorded with him when they did their own recordings. That being said, Kruangbin still sounds new.
You know what.. I told my friend that I discovered a beautiful band named "Khruangbin" and my friend suggested back his new discovery, Hiatus Kaiyote.. :)
damnnn they are so good... i'd like to share that at one point i heard what i think was just a funny fret noise that sounded like a sax note and i started yearning for just a touch of saxophone mixed in there too xD not that they need anything
i mean i hope one day down the road we hear some live collaboration to augment their groovy goodness... because these songs are classics and they ain't going away. so i reckon there will be love pouring in and the celebration of the universal smiles will be shared because there is enough to go around the world over and around the bend. jeah
Does anyone know how to get such a low end tone on bass? Is it the amp? Is the guitar itself? Is it a pedal? I love that there's basically no 'string noise' and it's all just pure bassy baseness. Also, isn't that the 'brownswood basement'?
Laura also put a foam mute underneath the ashtray bridge cover, so the strings are always slightly muted and thumpy. No mute and it would have more more zing and sustain.
I would imagine any piece of foam is good, as long as the size, density, and placement achieve this type of sound. Google "foam mute bass", there's lots of info online.
@@shookstylez Lighten up. it looks cool. Just because donning the wigs can be seen, from a certain angle, as being analogous to blackface (specifically, they're both a way of assuming a disguise), and blackface is racist, doesn't mean donning the wigs is racist. Why don't we just throw them in water to see if they'll float too?
Marcus Lopez they have both had a measure of musical success in the past, and didn’t want anyone to recognize them, plus it makes it easier for them to slip out of a venue to their table. Hope that clears things up
Thank you, I have been trying to figure that out for two days, then thought, check the comments, surely somebody noticed that thing and wondered what it was.

Amen, so chill and melodic. Great vibe to it

Well said! Totally agree with you.
What i love about this version is they seem to get the balance so perfect between the 3 instruments. one doesn't dominate over the other at any point. they all drive and contribute to the track in their own way
The first song i ever heard from them. One of the few bands that sound just as good live as they do on the album. Great song. Great album. Great band.
You know a band is dynamic when they sound just as good live as the studio recording.
This is pretty much a studio recording. There is a lot of post production on this.

The whole band combined uses less than 5 pedals total. Laura Lee only uses a single pedal. Pretty easy to setup your gear when its mostly clean tones.

Fells like walking on a deep sea floor.
Like one reaction video put it, this song feels like a warm hug.
Same here. I miss those days haha
Same thing brother. But in 2022 I'm still listening this song 24/7
When it's grooving' so tight, the ever so slight tempo changes become hair raising.
some of the best sounding drums in the game
Found Khruangbin - Still listening an hour later...Mind blowingly good.
im listening something like 8 hours now...
@@rajczor Metoo
been 2 months now still on it... fuking crazy eh?.
Still love it
This is just one great song on a really great album "Con Todo El Mundo" that I can not stop listening to. I love, love, love this band.
such a great band. never heard anything like them. looking forward to buying every album on vinyl throughout time
D.J your timing on the drums is simply perfection 😚
This is the coldest cut - the changes are remarkable and the comebacks at the end perfect!!!
I would absolutely love to hear Khruanbin cover Pink Floyd's "Dark Side Of The Moon" album. I would imagine it would be something special.
David Neff my take on khruangbin: prince meets Pink Floyd.
goddamn, simple but not easy, beautiful transitions
Love this band at the moment - kudos for the camera work aswell!
What is the name of this song? It blows me away
Update: after listening to Khru’s entire discography, the song is called Friday Morning
....from the second album, yes
based on It Was a Good Day - Ice Cube

that snare tone was crafted by god himself. dunno if that has a plate on it but woah
Sounds kinda springy to me....I've got an Orban with the same smoky vibe
Some of that Dub shit going on with the mix. I love it.
Happy Thanksgiving to any and al watching this on Thanksgiving morning and to have Khruangbin in your ears on this day is a thankful treat!
just waking up in the morning, gotta thank god, i dunno but today seems kinda odd
haha yep
dude. you just blew my fucking mind. is that why this is so catchy??

This shouldn't be good, but it's.......beautiful and captivating. Bands like this make me...."hopeful". Cheers Khruangbin.
A Hiatus Kaiyote/Kruangbin bill is my dream!
Definitely!
I would literally die. 😭

This week, Khruangbin (my second band, after Steely Dan) appeared in the Summer list of president Obama, which I take as a compliment.

Siete il trio più strano del mondo ma anche il più figo. Vi adoro!

Flatwounds.
She normally plays through / records with a 70s Fender Bassman Ten combo via the 'Normal' channel. But yeah, strings and a middy old amp helps.
Laura also put a foam mute underneath the ashtray bridge cover, so the strings are always slightly muted and thumpy. No mute and it would have more more zing and sustain.
Is that like a special mute, or would any piece of foam do?
I would imagine any piece of foam is good, as long as the size, density, and placement achieve this type of sound. Google "foam mute bass", there's lots of info online.
Beautiful ..!!!
I love khruangbin! whats the name of this song?

Great Band! Love the Tannoy's!!
I was wondering what they were what series tannoy are these?
I got it they are tannoy eaton speakers.
DJ got that rimshot that erykah was asking for
I get a kick out of the wigs, I'm curious to hear the idea on that. Either way the band is FANTASTIC.
because they are doing blackface. I think it's kind of racist to be honest.

That comment was so dumb I’m taking it as trolling. I truly hope people don’t see hair and think ‘racist’.

How shall we get that little flappy thing on the end of Lauri's bass notes circa 4:20???
