Kyle couldn’t say it better “your action and words are face of a buisness. Keep calm and be smart”

Pretty good video and touched a lot of good points. I’m just a hobby carver, but did promise the wife that this hobby would not cost the household this time. Talk about pressure! Trying to figure what people will buy is a problem sometimes. What I consider crafting crap may sell great and then make a really cool piece that I’m proud of can’t be given away.

Patrons always want to know the artist. Positivity always works. Great topic and advice. The why , where and when of it. It's important ..reality vs. Illusions! Creating is important vs. anxiety of what sells!

You did a great job on covering it all. I like your videos. I have also watched Ryan Cooks video and liked it as well. Y'all are both great artist and I follow the two of you along with several other great carvers to pick any technics I can. Keep on carving.

Thank you Kyle. I appreciate your informative talk. I am carving for pleasure and place my carvings on my lawn for display. I have people can you make me one of the flying eagle and a black bear walking on all four legs. And others. I have sol several ordered carvings, but I wasn't sure if I was selling the right price. I come to the conclusion, I don't to take orders because it puts much pressure on me to do one exactly the same for what they saw. The timing puts me under pressure to get it done, when someone stops by and wants one. I am retired and carving is my hobby not my job. I decided I'll make two of the same then sell one. I am going to make Rudolph the red nosed reign deer and the 8 deer and sleigh and Santa. I was telling this person and she wants Roudolf. Thank you .you explained this topic very well.

I have rooms full of my past work, I hate the selling process, so I currently don’t bother. However one of my strategies has been to carve “ wall hanger/folk mask “ pieces. I can build my skills while having room in our house. One day when I am willing to sell, people are more willing to buy something small….I may have an inventory for them to pick from!!! As a producing artist for 40 years, I ride a lawn mower for my business these days, I have had real jobs all these many years.

Yeah selling can be the toughest part sometimes . I just took the leap to a full time husband , father , artist, woodworker , chainsaw carver . We shall see where this new year takes it .
It’s not a bad idea to be all stocked up . Just start selling and have fun with it .

wtf ..is that background noise you got goin there ... set the camera down...dam.....shit like that kills ya video man.....all i can hear.....dammit man....killin me man...

    • @KyleHallwoodworker

The only back ground noise I hear is the occasional click when moving the camera. I’m not sure it killed the video . 6000 views and 80 new subscribers just from this video. I’m happy with that . Thanks for the comment though

I didn't hear any background noise sounded fine. Good take on the subject.
