I met people that didn't know what snickerdoodles were when I bought some at the store and they thought the syllable "snicker" indicated that they have peanuts or almonds and chocolate because of the candy "Snickers". Not so! In fact, they don't even have the same etymology. My research says that snickerdoodles might have been "a corruption of the German word schneckennudel meaning "snail dumpling" after a sweet bun of German origin that is snail shaped." The Snickers candy was named after the Mars family's favorite horse on an equestrian farm that the Mars family owned.

Mine come out very light and fluffy, staying puffed up. I'll have to look at the recipe to see what's different. The way my snickerdoodles come out, there's zero calories because they're more like light, crumbly air... and we all know air doesn't have calories! Great for the diet!! 😁

Hello Sonya 💜 They should still taste fine. How long did you allow the dough to chill in the fridge before making them? Sometimes that cream of tarter taste can be really strong. Sometimes the quality of butter can make a difference as well.
