For anyone wondering, that cactus is called a teddy bear cholla, which can be most efficiently removed using pliers or a comb. Its barbs have mini barbs on them that dig into the skin, so it’s like ripping off a really bad Band-Aid.
Nothing cuddly about that teddy bear.....
In the Southwest, we call them the jumping cactus.
