Fifteen-year-old Tara Webster has grown up on a farm in outback Australia and has dreamt of being a dancer ever since she was a little girl. When she makes it into the National Academy of Dance - the best school in the country - she is sure her life is about to be spectacular. What Tara doesn't realize is how far behind she is in her training, and that there's a whole lot more to surviving the Academy than just dancing...

Dance Academy is mainly about the fifteen-year-old Tara Webster - a girl who grew up on a farm in outback Australia. Since she was a little girl she has dreamt of being a dancer and in the series she finally makes it into the National Academy of Dance. It’s known as the best school in the country and she is sure her life is about to be spectacular.
Throughout the series Tara and her friends face the universal challenges of being a teenager and they battle through the minefield of elite dance training. Relationships grow and change as they live side by side in the Boarding House. They each take a different path, but they start to find out who they are and they all dare to chase their dreams.

Then the other part of me is like: but that line still gives me goose bumps
I know that Abigail is supposed to look evil in this episode but rewatching it I realize that her brief niceness to Tara is what leads Tara to express herself and ultimately get accepted! So we have Abigail to thank for everything in this show

As a girl with a muscle disoder who has always wanted to be a dancer this shows gives fans like me hope that although not professionally becoming a dancer isn't out of reach if you have the heart and determination. Thank You Dance Academy!!! Truly love this show.

I feel you, I've always wanted to dance but I have a deformity in my knee causing it to dislocate. My dream has always been to dance. I relate to Tara because we have similar personalities and I feel like I'm living through her. ❤️

Rewatching now that I’m older, I finally get it. Tara was never a bad dancer, it’s just that she was now in the top, most elite school in the whole country. Being the best at your local dance center is not at all the same thing as being the best in a high rated prestigious academy. With that being said, I wish I was an actual dancer so I could understand what they were saying about her poor technique😂
I mean her not knowing how to do pique turns is a bit suprising and I do get why they asked how long she's been a dancer. Keeping in mind this is my first episode, no she isn't bad, but she definitely has lots of room for improvement.
The theme song is so nostalgic. Ugh... I wish I could be young and oblivious again. All I had to do was go to school and come home and watch Dance Academy and H2O

OMG this is on UA-cam??? You guys are the BEST, this show was my darling in my highschool years and when I couldn't find it on Netflix I was so sad! Honestly, I wish other teen series where as wellwritten and selfconscious as Dance Academy.

This show is a masterpiece
I find that the way dancers move their bodies, its artwork. I miss my ballet days. I had to give up because my studio closed but I am looking for studios near me so I can get back into it. I wish I could be a prima ballerina one day. this is also my third time watching this series and I AM SO GRATEFUL THIS SHOW EXISTS BECAUSE IT REMINDS ME OF HOW I HAVE NEVER LET GO OF MY FREAM EVEN AFTER YEARS OF NOT DANCING, THE PASSION STILL BURNS AND I LONG TO DANCE. I love this show with all my heart.

After rewatching all the episodes and just coming back to this first one! Wow you can see how all the dancers matured and just wow! Even through Tara! Hearing Xenia’s opening line for the series and closing line for the series and just hearing how much she’s grow not only as a dancer but as an actress and grew Tara as a character. I’m honestly speechless! This show is one for the ages and could never be topped
