Awesome! Helpful hint, if you use the holesaw in reverse, rather than cutting it will melt the perfect 2" hole without risk of the teeth cracking/breaking the lid 👍
I think the mould started when you started sprouting the garlic. Both onions and garlic begin to rot if the bulb is in contact with water. Try sprouting them in a moist towel instead, and only let the water touch the tips of the roots
Also your roots and everything looked very healthy. You could have tried to wash off the mold and if any parts were damaged just remove that and let the plant keep going. I’ve had success mitigating mold this way before. Also you could use a little hydrogen peroxide to wash it and a quick diluted alcohol spray (be sure to rinse off completely before putting back in the bucket and also change and clean you water once you notice mold as it will stay in he water and come back very quick).
Have you thought about using a grow light since youre having trouble with the sun?? Target has some for $7 that are REALLY good, just make sure you use a good fixture for it!!
oh, I had no idea that target sold grow lights. I got some panels from ali express and amazon -- let me check target out! thanks so much for commenting!
Have you considered adding preservatives in the water in order to deter the growth of the fungus or other microorganisms? Or maybe a pro bacterium such as "Streptomyces Griseoviridis" commercially known as Mycostop that can colonize the whole system which can still prevent harmful microorganisms from attacking the system?
Mold grows in anaerobic conditions. It's not quite the same, but have you considered adding a small airstone? You can get the stone, air pump and tubing at a pet store in the fish section. In addition, to sprout set the garlic at the top of a water glass and just barely touch the base of the cloves with water. Let the roots grow down intro the water while keeping the cloves out of the water. Third, get FRESH buds with. no sprouting, remove all the paper covering, cut off the top 10% of each clove, and then rinse with cold water gently before sprouting. Sprout for one week. Hydroponics is not "easy" but it does take less effort. It's very nit picky about procedure, but if you do it right, it takes less effort. Good luck in future grows!
@@radnatalie omg almost forgot! Temperature of the water is SUPER important. Keep it below 70F. If you put the bin in a window, be sure to paint the bin lid white, and put tinfoil on the window to block sun hitting the body of the bin. If that isn't enough, toss in a couple of ice cubes when the temperature gets over 70.
Alternatively, you could gradually lower the water level as the roots grow so they can have access to adequate oxygen. In my own setup, I'm gradually reducing the water level as the roots grow. So far, it's been doing great.
Air you did not have enough ait. if your doing true Kratky system you do not need a airstone but it stops mold. in True pure Kratky no airstone you need a lot air low humidity between plant and water root at least half exposed to air or more and you still need to constantly change it or aerate. Just use an airstone it's the easiest Solution.
lowkey it's kinda sad bc you seem to know so much about plants and growing them but you keep killing them. still, i'll support you on your future endeavors, and hopefully you'll manage to grow a plant one of these days lmao
I actually did fogoponics for this video here! ua-cam.com/video/e4biWrKC1lw/v-deo.html Had no idea there was a quail side of UA-cam, I'll make sure it check it out.

thank you for your insight! I'm definitely gonna try that next time.

@@djcbanks thank you so much! next time I encounter mold I'll try this!
Great show. Even to learn from your mistakes. Where do you buy your nutrients from?
thank you!! amazon
The only good hydroponic garlic video from beginning to end! Keep on the good work. If you have tried it again successfully, post the video up.
Did you ever get garlic to work?
keep trying :) I literally just found your channel and I'm loving it! haha
ahh tysm! the video I'm editing now is a bunch of random seeds in kratky jar set ups!

@@radnatalie Be aware that Grow lights are not good for your eyes. You can research this.

I'll watch it 2 or 3 times to understand what's actually going on also you're beautiful ❤️

This is great! I needed a laugh this morning! I'm not laughing at you. I'm laughing with you. I'm not the only one that kills plants.
thank you! we'll stop killing them eventually :)
so you really think White Paint blocks light
Imagine this was filmed with a canon m50 and a Viltrox speedbooster and a 50mm f1.8? I would definitely smash like and subscribe

Don’t peel the cloves! That will help with the mold
thank you! I'll keep em unpeeled next time
Kudos for sharing the failed grow! you have a winning attitude and you WILL master this
thank you so much! I really appreciate that :)
Please keep trying!!

My mom is like this lol - she says she has the "black thumb" of her family
Hi
hi!
Why not do some UA-cam research into Fogponics. Also UA-camrs have created a lot of great information on raising quail. Check it out.

Use hydrogen peroxide
Quite the vid but garlic make breath stinky (first)
just plant it in soil😀😂
You are funny !
thank you! :)
