I been doing that since I was 7 Always believed I could get through. Its not easy nailing the first time, but I can get it the second or third. The part where he gets back up with a granade is the only tech I haven't done in this video lol. I never thought about doing a speedrun though
I remember playing this mission and when I tell you, I made sure none of the Marines died, I made damn sure none of them died. I would restart the checkpoint just to ensure all of the Marines survived even though they all die anyway.
I would always grab all the warthogs and fill them with Marines (there’s 3 I believe) & park them at the area where the level ends & when I played Co-Op we would haul ever marine all the way there I swear on my life, 1 time they had killed all the Covenant when you’re leaving the bunker to finish the level Could never recreate that

@@davidantinori4778 overshield gives invincibility when it winds up and plasma have 5 seconds to detonate after hitting the ground and frags are 3 seconds. He might have thrown them in glitched spots

He threw the grenades so they land in a specific place, in this case near the overshield, so when he picks up the overshield, and jump, the multiple explosions gives him enought momentum to reach the top, this would normally kill you but the overshield makes you invincible for about 4 seconds, allowing him to ascend untouched
I just played through these games with my friend who grew up with Halo and I agree so much. While he was playing Halo I was playing Spyro the Dragon, which is sorta what Halo CE reminded me of. That era of graphics was so unbelievably good. I think it comes from talented people being very creative with the technical limitations of the time.

Oh man I was thinking about this the other day. After 20 years of playing Halo I realized 99% of marines you meet in the Halo franchise die. (The real, Bungie franchise) In CE, Chief and Johnson are the sole survivors. Troops in 2 and 3 also take nearly 100% attrition save for the element that stops Tartarus in Halo 2. All survivors of Reach die in CE. Sad times.

I’ve done the warthog through the door before back in the day but the dropping levels and blowing back up to the top is crazy. Props to the record setter
PurpleSfinx Each grenade is placed and timed so that they go off in a specific sequence, with certain ones stacking. You know grenade jumping? This is that on steroids. All of them combined make enough of an explosion to blow Garish up about 4 floors, skipping the entire climb back up. Only survivable because overshield makes him invincible while it charges.
@@cookiecutter5162 the fragmentation grenades only start their blow up countdown when they hit something. The blue energy grenades (sticky grenades), have a longer countdown, but it starts immediately, and the explosion is a lot more powerful. This grenade jump takes advantage of the different countdown timers on the two different types of grenades.

Because there is an out of bounds trick, on PC pretty much nothing gets rendered OOB but with anniversary graphics is does, making getting through much faster and easier.
