      How’s the engine holding up?

Engine has been very strong! Normal maintenance items replaced, but haven’t had any issues with it.

This motor sat winterized for almost 3 years during the pandemic. Pulled it out last summer and it started right up. (After pumping out the old fuel). Unbelievable boat.

Little trick about a Yamaha, instead of needing rabbit ears, there is a hose with a fitting that goes from the midsection into the bottom part of the cowling on the passenger side of the engine. All you have to do is unscrew it from the motor and screw it on to the water hose and there you go, water directly to your motor

Ross Mcallister thank you for info,I keep buying those ears cause they break so easily.

Ross Mcallister This is used for flushing the motor while it is turned off only. please refer to below intruction from Yamaha owner manual:
      CLEANING COOLING-WATER
      PASSAGES
      Flushing device equipped model
Perform this procedure right after opera-
tion for the most thorough flushing.
      1) After shutting off the engine, unscrew
      the garden-hose connector 2 from
the fitting 1 on the bottom cowling.
      2) Screw the garden-hose connector 2
onto a garden hose 3 which is con-
      nected to a fresh-water supply.
      3) With the engine off, turn on the water
tap and let the water flush through
the cooling passages for about 15
minutes. Turn off the water and dis-
      connect the garden hose 3.
      4) When flushing is complete, reinstall
the garden-hose connector 2 on the
fitting 1 on the bottom cowling.
      Tighten the connector securely.
      c
Do not leave the garden-hose connector
      C
loose on the bottom cowling fitting or let
the hose hang free during normal opera-
tion. Water will leak out of the connector
instead of cooling the engine, which can
cause serious overheating. Be sure the
connector is tightened securely on the fit-
      ting after flushing the engine.

No no no no. That flushes the motor. It runs the water the opposite way. Don't ever do that.. damn internet is messing up peoples stuff because people that don't know anything is telling people what to do...

Any tricks to starting a 2 stroke vmax. I usually I have to push down the choke a total of 6 times for it to work 2 separate attemtps. sometimes 9 with 3 attempts.

      @alexphillips4325 3 роки тому

well, you could *hold* the choke in while cranking, it's not like a primer, you gotta keep the choke on
