Respect, and thanks from a Hawks fan. I like hard-hitting players, but that hit was to the head. No one wants to see that. That could end someone's career.
In the past 5 years or so, this is usually a 2 games suspension if the player has no suspension history. It fills all the checkboxes except that Kubalik didn't seem to be injured on the play and that is the only attenuation factor that might let Schenn get away with it.
@@AEMoreira81 It was late. He makes the initial commitment to the hit after Kubalik relinquished possession. The whole "2 second rule" thing some people try to throw around when a hit like that happens doesn't exist. He committed to a hit on a player without possession, interference to a tee
Not sure I'd call it late, but he had an angle to go shoulder to shoulder that he passed on and had his arm raised through the hit which makes it a bad hit. He had the chance twice to avoid head contact in that hit.
Ah yes, welcome fellow Leaf fans as we smile ear to ear at the news of our beloved boy returning to where it all began. Hope he wears #2... DEFINITELY will appreciate that toughness when it counts.💪👍👍
Very reminiscent to Aaron Rome on Nathan Horton. He dug his skates into the ice after the puck was released; and thus, it's not committing to a hit. It's starting a hit after the puck is gone.
Horton was KO-d after that hit though, never really was the same either. Bruins had a lot of bad Concussions during those years, Savard, Bergeron, Horton
The amount of time and space in between rome/horton was much larger than the amount of space schenn covered. Schenn also kept his elbow down through the hit. He didnt extend and finish as high as rome did. It's close but it wont be anymore than 1 game I believe.
Not only was it late, but it was way high. He was absolutely targeting his head, shoulda been 5 and a game at minimum plus a review by the NHLPA. Guess I'm not surprised, I wouldn't expect anything less from Luke Schenn.
If the Draper and Lemieux incident happened in today's game we'd get a lame fight and that would be it. "Good fight, dude... thanks for letting me stand up for my teammate after you elbowed him square in the face and nearly knocked him out. I truly appreciate it and respect you, man!"
In a game where the Hawks were recognizing a former player retiring due to concussions, this should be a no brainer suspension. 2 minute minor is a joke
Yeah, no defending this one. Hit was late, decided after the puck was gone to go for it aka he wasn't committed prior and could have avoided it, I don't think the head portion was intentional but he still made contact. As a TBL fan, Schenn needs to sit a couple for that one which sucks cause he's been playing well lately.
That hit was late and to the head. That is a play where Zadorov doesn't get or deserve an instigator. I'm just really tired of seeing clean hits that lead to a fight and the instigator doesn't get punished. If the hits clean you have no reason or cause to insert yourself into a play you weren't a part of with the sole purpose of fighting. Obviously this is a play that 1. Should have been called on Schenn cause that hit breaks MULTIPLE rules. 2. I have no issue with Schenn having to answer the bell for
Looks like Rome-Horton hit in the finals. Rome got the equivalent of 12 regular season games (4 games in the Stanley Cup Finals). Then again Dominik Kubalik doesn't have his dad in the front office for disciplinary action (Colin Campbell at the time), so I don't see Schenn getting anything close to what Rome got in 2011.
Zadorov should not be the guy on the team stepping up for guys. He's big and willing but it's never been a great strength in his game. Chicago needs to fill this gap so he can focus more on his game
@@kyleayres6255 Schenn can still go, that's for sure. It'd probably be closer than this, but I think Schenn would take Shaw. Schenn generally goes with big guys, think he'd toss Shaw around a bit.
ive always loved schenn atleast he answered the bell he was drafted 5th overall by the leafs for this reason hes doing what he does loved him as a leaf
People in this group have no idea how hard it is to throw a big open ice hit WITHOUT making zero contract with the head. It happens so fast at that level. All it takes is the player who is already leaning forward to move slightly and a hit intended to be all shoulder also hits the head. This rule has gotten ridiculous. Schenn has always been a clean hitter. But when you lead the league in hits every year the odd one will go bad. Secondly, Kobalik was admiring his pass.. Thats a major NO-NO at the NHL level.
The new CHI jerseys really sacrifice durability for mobility and weight! But I guess it makes sense for today’s fast paced style of game, just weird to see
Not sure where the Elbow people are talking about is. His elbow dosent make contact with his head, you can clearly see that from 2 different camera perspectives. He was going for a shoulder to shoulder and he caught the head. A dangerous and High hit no doubt but I dont think Schenn was trying to decapitate him here
Shocker Zadorov has a lane right to schenn but decides to yap from a distance and act tough once the linesman comes in. I’ve said it once n i’ll say it 100 more Zadorov biggest pretender in the league
@@connorring597 Didn't Cernak get suspended for a headshot last year? I'm not calling them a dirty team or anything. I'm just saying, it definitely wasn't that long ago

that was a dirty dirty hit, and im a Tampa fan. Not gonna defend that at all.
