It's a common issue, the waterscale builds up. You can clean with distilled white vinegar but I'm with you... I'm getting a glass kettle that I can clearly see through! Thanks for the vid!
I tossed out the Plastic coffee pot and replaced it with a glass coffee pour over. I kept the Coffee pot for heating water and it just cracked. Been using it for four months daily - no problem but tonight I foolishly turned the stove on high. Ordering this put now. Thanks buddy👊🏼🧔🇺🇸
Just got a brand new at a thrift shop for $3.00. Just used it and steeping my tea. I'm also switching from metal to glass for the same reason. Thank you for your review. Now, to go sip on my cup of tea.
I'm with you! Metal kettles can't be trusted. Bad for you. I have the Medelco borosilicate glass whistling kettle like yours. Actually, I have two of them. The only problem is that I can't get my hand inside the mouth so I can clean it. Have to use a special long handled brush.
If you mean a vaguely cloverleaf shaped wire, that's the "heat diffuser" or "trivet" for use with an electric coil stovetop. It reduces the temperature gradient so the glass doesn't crack.
Perfect kettle! Strange that in Russia i can't find any of those. Only from Europe for overprice. Seems like demand is very low and no one want to sell it.
Made and printed in USA. 1985 Gemco Ware Inc. Gemco Ware Inc. Freeport New York 20-2000N DHD. The original whistler. 1985. The protective metal grid that you receive inside is for electric ranges You are supposed to place this underneath your glass On top of the Electric range As a buffer. I don't know why the new versions do not come with instructions to explain this. Also The original whistler Has a much better handle It is stronger More durable And The shape of it is different. The original whistler Also has a different whistle sound Because the whole is smaller. Also the original whistler says exactly that on the Glass "Whistler". The original is made much better with better quality and better materials. What you are purchasing today Is a cheap Down graded Version Of the original whistler. The original version has an eight cup mark The New Has a 6.. Not to mention that you are not supposed to fill it past the eight bar. This is more information than the new cheap Imitation version is giving you And the old version which is the original Has better glass. So if you can find 1 from 1985. You will get more Quality For your dollar
Unless you are that stupid to let the water boil away, there is no problem, remove from heat ASAP after the whistling process starts. Or, just don't use the lid , and pay attention to when the water boils. The Whistler is for dummies anyway.
I have not found an electric kettle that doesn't glitch out after a month or so. I boil water every single day, twice a day. I'm wondering if they just can't handle the frequency.
@@kdholden i boil infrequently but often, i haven't had an issue with a cheap $20 kettle. My friend has had one for over 20 years, still boils! I would look into a basic function machine without digital chips that can and will get wet with overflow when pouring/washing. One with a basic shut off switch and nothing else are the kind I'm referring to.
@@kdholden would also recommend a glass or stainless kettle, many now coming with plastic pitchers which in my experience affect the taste. Glass is my favorite.
the plastic on cap melted. found black pieces of plastic in the water. the handle gets hot. customer service is rude. they make you pay to return. would not recommend. product is cheap.
@@travisderose they use cheap plastic that melts on glass that is non toxic. Putting meltable toxic materials on it is counter productive and non-intuitive. Also, the handle is a flimsy plastic that heats up so if you do nto want to burn your hands, wear gloves that makes handling not very comfy.
It's weird you have to remove the top to pour it but who cares its only 8 bucks. Same thing happened to the inside of my expensive Kettle; It was coated with a layer of stuff.....Gross.
Nope. Nope nope nope. Glass never goes on the stove even if they tell you it can. All I see is a weird review about the water boiling properties of a grenade.

Thank you, that's a good tip!
if you only have a cup or two a day and drink other water... you can use distilled water as your tea and coffee it's perfectly fine and no scale...
Thank you for this review. I have gone through so many kettles. I like that it is glass too so you can actually see when it is clean.

I just bought this glass Kettle through your affiliate link 😁👍 I can't wait to receive this Kettle!!
That’s awesome! Appreciate that

Hey man. We got the same kettle! I love it!
Nice review. Nothing like getting small dog photo bombed 😁
Great review, thanks for the info!
Question... what is the silver ring for that comes in the kettle in a zip bag?
That’s what I was trying to find out as well. I just bought my glass kettle a few days ago but have not used it yet

@@mycrowatt O, thanks!
@@mycrowatt - Yes that’s what it is shaped like. Thank You 😊
Can it be used on coiled electric stove?

I've always used it for tea In my family never a kettle
The reason I'm here is my stainless kettle was giving me the skeevies also. Thanks for the review. And the glass is cuter. Ha !!
You should have done a demo...
What should I do with the metal rivet that it comes with? I have an electric stove
I think you just put it under your kettle
Please tell me if it is normal while its heating to have allot of cracks form. Then when it cools you don’t see them anymore
I definitely don’t have cracks appear and disappear on mine

What about the little wire metal looking piece that comes inside of the kettle do you leave it or take it out?
I think it’s for if you have a glass top stove
try 18-8 stainless steel kettle
Btw, how is it going? Haven't it crack yet?
Great! Use it every day
When he is not around, the dog will try boiling the water.
Где приобрести такую колбу для варки кофе? Буду очень благодарна!!!!!
yup that metal kettle was cheap and yes it’s permanently in your body now. The plastic lid also is not healthy on that glass kettle
So what do I do?
@@travisderose let me know. would lik too see what kettle is best 4 me NON TOXIC.
I'd recommend NOT using the PLASTIC top, especially while boiling, for *good measure* health.
Does it take a long time to boil without the plastic top? Seems like a lot of the heat would escape
@@travisderose it does, you are correct , leave the lid on.

I am having a hard time trying to put the lid in the kettle
Leave it off
Electric kettles are more energy efficient! Over double the efficiency, if you're concerned about that
Good to know

the coating is chalk, it's harmless but I find it gross to look at aswell thats why I don't use those electric kettles
