I find it amazing that induction stove tops aren't more popular in the US. On them the stove top kettle outperforms the bespoke electric kettle, while saving some electricity!

I suggest people reading my comment read purchased reviews for the kettles they liked from here. Purchased reviews are from day to day use repotting problems with whistles, paint popping off, triggers failing and poor stainless steel quality. I can tell everyone that OXO hit the market in 1998 as the affordable kitchen store model getting a design award for the open when lifting spout. My Enamel on steel is 15 years old and shines up like a new penny. The enamel has tiny scuffs from our iron stove top. Considering the number of years I’d say it’s well made. I too learned the handle stays cool with a lower flame under the kettle. I do fill mine through the pour spout to get around that part of the design. The lift spout rises high to do it this way. For safety, function of one hand only to use and quality I would recommend it. I don’t know about the stainless model, but the enamel has a screw adjustment. I’ve never had to use and wondered if it was made to be replaceable? The whistle still going strong. The reviews on newer kettles is painful. Consumer safety should be a top priority. Using a towel on metal handles is dangerous for us ladies. And pulling a spout open where scalding steam comes out should be illegal. Anyways, you’re hard work was extremely helpful. Saving all of us time and money. THANK YOU!!!

Thanks for the info. I use a kettle daily. Funny thing is that I have never owned any of the brands featured. In fact, I have only owned two kettles in the past forty years. The first was a Revereware kettle. I bought it because the kettle I really wanted was $100, which was too much. I used the Revereware one for the next fifteen years until the spout cover lifter broke. That very same day, I went to a local kitchen shop and put the kettle I had originally wanted on layaway. It was and is a Chantal Classic enamel on steel with my favorite feature, a two-tone Hohner harmonica whistle. I've used it for over twenty-five years and it is still going strong.
Thanks so much for all your research. I was looking at a Sustea, but didn't see that one as being one of the models tested. I decided I can live with the Mr. Coffee for occasional tea drinking for 20 bucks. I liked that you could touch the handle after heating. I have a gas stove. And I liked the button touch lid control as well. Many thanks for making my decision easier.

Love this video but it would be nice to get a ranking that doesn't dwell on price. I like buying nice things used- and sometimes prices can be very different. For example- if you found an All Clad kettle on ebay for $30 and the cheapest Le Creuset you could find was $60, would you buy the All Clad or the Le Creuset? For this reason it would be nice to get an absolute ranking without regard for price because prices change significantly over time :) Just a thought.

I don't want to buy another dud. All I want is a whistling tea kettle that WHISTLES...LOUDLY Is that asking for too much? Okay, based upon your reviews, I'm going to buy the $32.00 Oxo. I was going to buy the 92 decibel Chef's Secret, but it costs $88.00 on Amazon, and the cheapest Kitchen Aid is $59.87. So, since I can't completely trust that the damned thing will really whistle, I have to go for the cheapest of the three. I can only hope that the kettles you guys tested are really representative of their brand. I'm now just wondering if I can return a tea kettle to Amazon because it doesn't whistle loudly enough. i'll try, though. I've bought too many disappointing "whistling" tea kettles. Really enjoyed this video. You touched on many aspects of tea kettles people would like to know in a watchable amount of time. One thing I would like compared is the rust factor that happens in some of the less expensive kettles. I have wasted a lot of time & money having to replace kettles because of rust appearing on the inside of the kettle and plastic getting melted on the stove. I would rather purchase a quality stainless steel kettle that will last 20+ years.
I've never hated an inanimate object as much as when I bought a Circulon tea kettle. I practically had to turn the damned thing upside-down to get the water out, which would burn my hand in the process. Thanks for this great video, now I know what to avoid.

Great video! I hoped you'd do a wear and tear because I'm at a standstill on purchasing another one since mind has loose screws on the handles connecting with the sprout. I'm thinking about getting it repaired or finding screws as one is missing and the other screw is constantly needing to be tightened, making it very dangerous. Its started less than 6 months after purchase. Mine is a Brandani I had purchase at a discount store.
Soooo... while how they pour is nice, are any of the kettles Made In America? Many people refuse to buy imported junk and would prefer to keep American's employed ... Made in the USA is the most important feature for me, and worth a premium on price.
Thank you for this great review. Still, I don't any of these kettle are great. They're all cheaply made and so many of them are made with plastic. I've been using the Oxo Uplift kettle for years. I've owned three of them but the whistles don't work well, which is counter to your review. I wish there was a so-called "luxury" kettle that was brilliant. Alessi kettles are nice but they have problems too. In 2022, there are no great water kettles.
While I enjoyed the review, I think the longevity of the kettle would be most valuable. Alot of kettles claim stainless steel and rust. I bought a Demeyere kettle with 18/10 stainless steel and it rusted after 6 to 7 years of use. I just bought a le creuset and I hope it would last.
I've seen comments on the cooks country review saying the oxo is inferior quality steel with a wonky bottom and it was their choice. You guys considered many many more kettles. Thank you.
Best Tea Kettle review I've watched! I love Le Creuset cast iron. I'm going to buy one their kettles: Classic/Traditional, Demi, or Zen- which I believe is in your review, it's hard to find though. I love the look of the Demi, I won't be using a ton of water-just for myself for 3 or so cups of tea throughout the day. I'd like to purchase a model with the least problems: rusting, enamel wear and tear, smooth pour. I'll also mention; I'm petite, not even 5ft, small hands, short arms, arthritis, and have a problem with my pouring arm, so I don't want to lift my shoulder too much. Thanks so much, and I can wait to watch your past reviews!
I have the Le Creuset cone kettle and it’s excellent. Make sure to empty overnight with the lid off to evaporator all the water to mitigate rust issues.
Brilliant review, very comprehensive. Only problem for me is the prices are all over place here in the uk. some are cheaper some are dearer. ie the muellor is £85 or more. So I have to cross check the prices for value for money.
Please do a test for two burner griddles for an Induction Cooktop. By the way, I would have loved to see the boil time of a kettle on an Induction, it will likely be half the time or less of gas or electric on the Kitchen Aid Induction on the power boil setting. It's amazing!

I am a big hot cocoa drinker So much so that I even got the bubba cups (The big ones) I was one day remembering back when I was a kid in the 80's and we had a kettle and would use that to heat the water for the hot cocoa (No bubba cups back then though. :,( ) Anyways I just got myself a kettle I ended up getting Elytra Whistling Kettle Stainless Steel Teapot with Stay Cool Handle. 2.6 Qt / 2.5 Liter It was $15.97 now my new home has an electric stove. Why do stove kettles do not usually include a built in thermometer? How is it possible to control heat with precission?

I was hoping this ended with a drop test. We've gone through several just because they fell on the kitchen floor...once.
You can't expect a tea kettle to survive a fall to the floor. It might survive although I would suspect it would at least have visual damage.

Several other expert sources rated the Oxo as #1, but unfortunately, I find it ugly ! As with people, looks count with cookware !
