- Taking a break from tutorial videos to simply share a selection of favourite images from a big year of photography in 2023. Photos were all taken on Lumix cameras including the new G9 Mark ii. You'll see photos taken close to home, on tour in Australia and overseas - and most have never been shown on UA-cam before. Watch right to the end for some LIVE VIEW COMPOSITE photos taken on the G9ii and S5ii. Exposure settings are included for your interest.

Hi Andrew. Thank you for the video. I saw you shooting with a G9 II so I went out and got one with my credit card. Now I have to come out of retirement and go back to work to pay that off along with a root canal I needed. 😆 Very happy with it. Phase detect AF plus the extra 5 megapixels is a great improvement. Shooting video and loving the sharpness and colors out of the G9 II. If Panasonic stays true to their course we should see firmware releases that makes this even better!
Thank You, Andrew. It is always a pleasure seeing your latest work and receiving your newsletters.
Beautiful and inspiring!!
Thank you so much!
Thanks a lot for that video. Was wondering what is the Live View Composition about and just read you will make another video about it. Great. Thanks for that in advance too.
🤩🤩 Stunning work! We hope your 2024 brings you more great photography and plenty of travel opportunities!
Andrew, thanks again, we are desperately waiting for your next G9ii settings video on live composite etc. etc. regards......
Hi Andrew, these photos just show that you are an amazing artist, they are absolutely great. Not only do you have a great eye for what works, but making sure that you are optimizing the tools that you are using. You would take great photos no matter what camera you are using! PS. Only 3 more weeks until I get on a plane to Sydney, then will be on a cruise to New Zealand, then to stop back in Hawaii for a week. I expect to take thousands of photos with my G9 and GX9 , I hope that a few with match your examples. I will watch this video a few more times, hopefully to learn as much as I can.
Wow Marty, talk about a boost to my ego! Thank you so much for the compliments, and I hope you enjoy your big trip.
Great selection Andrew! What a year you had in 2023, all the best for 2024.
Great photos. Which camera do you like the best?
Lovely, thanks for sharing. I need to go out with my olympus 60mm macro more often. I forget how good a job it does on my g9. I am interested in trying out the new 100mm macro on the S5 also. I have been waiting for a good & small macro for L-mount.
Hi Andrew, thanks for your videos. How is your experience with s5ii for bird photography ? Is it good with flying birds ??
A nice collection, Andrew! My favorite is at 3:45, outstanding are the ones at 10:20, 12:37 and 15:00 and others. It seems that you prefer the GH6 to the G9 as a photography camera? How do they compare? First what impresses me with the G9 ii are the colors. Not a strong point with any Panasonic camera prior to that one. The same goes for Olympus Macro 60 mm. Superb shots! Could it be the best MFT macro lens? Greetings from the Lowlands...
I favoured the GH6 over the G9 for three reasons. Better colours, the finer detail of more megapixels, and of course it's just more fun playing with new toys. Now the GH6 isn't getting much use because I'm so happy with the G9ii. I only dabble in macro from time to time, so haven't used the 60mm so much except on that wildflower tour. But yes it does a great job, sharpest macro photos I have ever taken.
What an awesome video!! Congrats!!
I'm actually shooting with an S5II and I 'm happy with it, but I'm very surprised about the sharpness and (specially) the colors out of your GH6 (May be it's just me, but... Wow!!). How do you feel about shooting with both systems? Do you feel any diferences between the colors out of G9II, GH6 and S5II?
Thank you very much in advance!! :)
On my latest tour (which I will make a video about as soon as I find time) I took the S5ii and the G9ii. I traded in my GH6 as I wasn't using it anymore after getting the G9ii. My current setup is the best I've ever had. G9 and GH6 were great but G9ii is next level, and the S5ii is fantastic for photos that don't need that huge reach I can get on the G9ii with 100-400mm + 2x crop. I don't know why you would have any concerns about sharpness, that comes down to a good lens and proper camera technique. When it comes to colour, I think the new models are best. I find Lumix in AWB tends to lean a little towards magenta, but not so much on the G9ii and S5ii. But I shoot RAW anyway so I can make little adjustments to my colours in processing.
Thank you very much, @@naturesimagephotography !! I really appreciate your answer!! :)))
Hi Andrew lovely images, currently torn between G9ii and S5iix owner of G9 but not many lenses except the leica 12-60……wondering if it’s worth making the jump to full frame
I'm really lucky to have both. If I had to choose just one I would have the G9ii simply because of the massive reach of the 2x crop factor and I do a lot of wildlife. But if all I did was portraits and landscape, I would probably go for the S5ii. Unfortunately I will never be able to afford the sort of lens for full-frame that could compete with the 800mm equivalent of the 100-400 on the G9ii,
As always, great video. I have a question? Do you think the G9 is worth getting for sports and wildlife photography. I just getting into photography and was looking at the G85 , but I hear the G9 is better although a little bit more money, what would you recommend. Thank you for your help in advance 🙏
The Lumix G9 has a faster high-speed frame rate, and I believe the human subject detection is better as well. I haven't used the G85 but I don't think it has animal detection, which the G9 does. G9 also has a lot more focus points and better weather resistance. It would be my choice between those two cameras.
I really love your images! I currently own a G9II and a 100-400 PL original. I'm very happy with the IQ most of the times, but.. I see good deals on both an olympus 300mm and panasonic 200mm 2.8. For my shooting having more light when I need it matters more then being able to zoom. I would love to have a 300mm olympus if it's usable @ 600 with a 2x TC (does it work well on a G9II?). Also.. do you really think the 200 2.8 is sharper @ 400mm 5.6 compared to the PL? Thanks for all your work!
I only have the Panasonic 100-400mm, I have not used the Olympus lenses. Most of the gear I make videos about are cameras/lenses I have bought myself. I really can't tell you how any of it works with teleconverters because I haven't used them, except for a brief loan a few years ago.
Some beautiful shots. However, I am not at all keen on zooming the images in this slideshow type of youtube. You seem to be hedging your bets with the crop.
The motion was a bit off-putting and dizzy making, love the pix tho.
