The footage that was shown was from an early Alpha build of the game. I'm sure that the final product will be much more polished :)
I have no faith in Tennis: World Tour at all, unfortunately. Miss top spin, I am actually more hopeful for the new Mario tennis game.

Great game! I got this game this month (Feb 2019), I do not know how the game was like when this review was made, but for those who are in doubt, I can guarantee it is a great game of tennis.

Bring back the old days of Super Tennis on the SNES. Still my favourite tennis game of all time. Game play was brilliant.

Chocolatier The developer is working on it. There's no set release date though, I think he's really busy with his personal life. But he's definitely working on it! It's gonna be titled "Tennis Elbow 4" apparently.
What ever happened to the top spin or virtua tennis series?
Sega stopped making the virtua tennis and the top spin studio (2k czech) got shut down. There are some people from that team that are making Tennis World Tour which is coming out in May, looks better than this game.

Tennis is supposedly the fourth most popular sport in the world. I just think that there isn't a mainstream appeal in their videogames.

This game has improved a lot from what I saw on their recent global release (AO International Tennis). Any chance this review can be updated?
Dude, once a review is been made it will NEVER changed its score because you made a game, release it and THATS it. Same as doin' an exam in the first try, you get a grade depending on how you performed on the results and THATS the rating you'll get. So no, AO when it launch that is the rating it'll get and stay with.
It was just a typical Aussie sports tie-in game, basically just designed to sell tickets to the real thing.

They have done a variety of updates however that have made the game much better. Hoping that when it releases in March in Europe, the game will be a lot better.
If this game wanted to be the "Most Advanced Tennis Game Ever" maybe they should have started with not focusing the whole game around the Australian Open, There's so many other major tennis events and unique staduims around the world. Do you think FIFA would have been as big as it is if all of its Stadiums were in London?
Agreed. Why do none of these Tennis games developers ever do the research on the competition e.g. Tennis Elbow by Mana Games; it’s the only Tennis game that has retained a consistent following since even before Top Spin. Reason: realism of *every* aspect of gameplay.

Hopefully, it is much better when it releases in NA/EU regions. The Devs are patching things, on their mobile game and console game. Looks like EA GS Tennis 2 more than Top Spin.
Update 1.10 has this game improved so much. It is far more enjoyable and playable to play. The animations, sound quality and smoothness is far better

As bad as this might sound I think EA should make a tennis game for this gen of consoles, they'll of course do great job even if means the inescapable micro-transactions but it'll at least be a lot better than this game.
They would probably make a pretty game with great production value in terms of commentators and a great roster of pros etc. But then the gameplay itself would probably be very shallow like most of their other games.

Saw this at EB games today for $100 nearly brought it! But decide to watch a review first. Glad I did. Problem pick it up for a 20 in a few months.
I have more fun on Virtua tennis 2009, this gaming is boring, constantly waiting for unforced errors of the opponent because it's difficult to make a winning point.
For what we can see in the video and your comments on the game, a 4.5 is even being too benevolent I'd say

I think this game was released too early just to get it out in time for the Australian Open seeing as it only has come out in AUS and NZ. This game has potential and with time and more motion capture done over the AO as confirmed, hopefully the game will be closer to topspin when the game is released globally cause rn it’s trash

I was looking forward to this game, though, I think it could be better, in mechanics, gameplay, and in its graphics. Sad, cuz I watched the Ausopen 2018, so far. And this could’ve been a nice extra. 😔
