yeah I'm projecting, but to me it feels like a kind of "It's fine I don't need to be perfect" as a cover up, like feeling dissatisfied with your life, afraid of messing up so just not trying, so close to a real sort of closure, but faking it. Not satisfied with *just* being alive, you have to make something perfect, but you don't think you will, so instead you do nothing, claiming to be happy this way. You can't disconnect what you do to your worth, so instead just ignore it all and set yourself in apathy. You grow comfortable and believe you are happy this way, all while retreating and becoming less and less productive, and in the back of your mind, this makes you feel worse, and so again, is ignored and overlooked with the front of "It's fine, I'm not doing anything because I'm happy this way"

If I were to guess, this is a song about someone who's tired of trying. He wanted to be a fireman (douse fires), pluck at strings (play an instrument), and cook (simmer salt with blazing heat), but he failed so many times he started breaking those wishes down to their basic elements, trying to make them seem trivial so he wouldn't feel so bad about not trying anymore and instead do something fun to distract himself instead of doing something substancial (singing about nothing). And since he isn't doing anything substancial, each day feels the same to him, with nothing special or memorable (every day is another day). He's trying to cope with his own uselessness instead of bettering himself, saying that he's content as he is and that at least he still has things to be happy about (talking about how he's satisfied with just being alive and how he likes the sweet apple pie of pleasure rather than the coconut pie of obligation, that repulses him so much now that he says he's allergic to it. And how even though all of his failed attempts left him with a broken heart, he still has ice cream). Even as he fails to do a simple hand trick, he says that's not a lack of skill but that he simply didn't want to do it right, making excuses for himself instead of trying again. And now, even when he has an idea of what to do, a spark of hope for a new dream to persue, or even an old dream that he could still attempt to achieve again, he would rather not bother (talking about when someone else's broken dreams came to talk to him, he chose to go to sleep instead and forget about it. In my opinion, this song is about procrastination. With the character being "too busy falling asleep" and "watching someone else's fractured dreams get up on their little feet", as well as "pouring my heart out in the sink" imply that this character wants to do big things in life, but keeps procrastinating, all while they watch other people follow their passions in life and succeed. Edit: I know people don't like it when others comment on how many likes they have, but this is actually a special moment for me. I feel like it may be also about high expectations too. It feel likes it’s someone who’s procrastinating a lot, but, gives themselves high expectations they want to achieve and say they can do without really trying. It also seems like it affects them negatively until they go back to procrastinating more giving up until it starts again. Something I love about Soddiken is how you can almost interpret some of their songs into other of their songs. Notice how the character says “but I don’t mind ‘cause I’ve got ice cream”? I agree with all the claims of this song being about procrastination after failing so many times and getting your dreams crushed over and over. Though, There's a pretty noticeable support for this that nobody I can see is mentioning. It's the length of the song. The full video is 1 minute and 42 seconds, 1 minute and 38 seconds if you take out the outro credits. However, the actual lyrics don't start until 32 seconds after the video starts. In my opinion, this perfectly brings home the message of procrastination from failure. The character here is so tired of trying that he doesn't even start to sing about his procrastination till a third of the way through the video! This is a great use of subtlety. I didn't even notice this detail until my second listen while reading the comments ahaha-
Another cool thing about this song is that since not a single line is repeated and there’s no actual chorus, just bridge after bridge building up to nothing, it leaves you feeling empty and craving more, wishing the song had more to offer and maybe was a little longer. Just like the songs meaning. You keep getting excited to do things that your unable to do, and then it’s over before it begins, and you realize the “good part” was already happening, and you put it off so long you lost your chance. And in the animation, with the ice cream it melts before it can be eaten. Just like how the song ends before the climax. It all lines up so well.

I feel like this one is a depiction of how a lack of motivation feels. Like, you have so much potential, but you find yourself put down in so many places, like from fear of failure, disability, depression, etc. so you never even attempt things you know full well you could do.

I think it's got to do with this character trying to play it cool while in reality they don't have any goals or aspirations in life and basically have accomplished nothing, maybe in a state of depression? or it could be a hint at ADHD or gifted kid burnout, where the mc is trying to convince others that they can do/ can still do all these amazing things but they choose not to, instead of the reality is that they simply can't anymore. ( the scenece where they try to get the deers attention and seeming confidant but it dosing workout so they just downplay it , them stating all the things they could do , the whole scene with "i could but i dot want to" ), not only are they seemingly losing it/ in denial, but they are also doing absolutely nothing to change it probably due to their mental state.( the end where sun thing which I'm assuming is someone in their life who they deem to have been successful pushing them and trying to motivate them, maybe even reaching out about their mental state, but they just shut them of and go to sleep) even though all of that, we can gather that the mc is actually feeling guilty asf for not achieving much, they are at least subconsciously aware of their behavior and that shit hurts ( aka when the try to fall alseep with their back turned to the camera, the nothing scene) overall, uncomfortably relatable.

ok first watch through and my interpretation is that it's about "living up to your potential" and how we (as humans) have the ability to do so much, like with the "cool trick with my hands" line, but we don't have too. I'm trying to figure out why I feel like I relate to this song so much the more I listen to it. At first I was just thinking of it as like either procrastination or anything lack of motivation. But I think what really resonated with me was the main character seemingly trying to convince themself that they were satisfied with just being alive even though as the song went on it became more clear that they had regrets but also couldn't bring themselves to make big changes and work toward something only to fail again. It felt similar to when you get burnt so many times trying to do something that you can't justify it being worth the energy anymore. At least for me, I feel like I don't want to do anything but sleep and I try to ignore the feeling as long as I can so that I can just keep going through the motions of the day. Maybe that's why, even if it's not, I hope it can add to all of the other amazing theories here.

Things to support the procrastination theory that seem like smaller details that I noticed (from watching this on loop at midnight): - the ice cream that appears on screen melts before its eaten -Theyre watching tv, a common activity for procrastinating, only to go to sleep -The "Look I can do a cool trick with my hands" moment. Wanting to be good at something, but lacking the ability to due to not practicing thoroughly. Then going onto to say "its because I don't want to" when you fail and not trying again -They could do all of those things with their hands, but are they? no. Do they acknowledge they would be able to if they practiced? yeah. Which almost sounds like executive dysfunction to me, something I personally struggle with. -The animals they morph into during the "its that I don't want to" line, they have to have some significance! I just cant figure it out. All four of those are hunters, and experts at that tbh, might be "blending in" but that could be a stretch

Honestly the reason I think I just absolutely love sodikkens music is because I haven’t heard anything like it ever! There’s nothing I can compare it too! It’s just so foreign and unique and goddamn awesome!! It just makes me want to listen to it more because of the rapidly changing beats and lyrics. You never know what’s going to happen and that just makes me so compelled to it and wanting to keep listening again and again. I just can’t describe the overwhelming feeling of euphoria I get from their music!! There’s so many little details and things I could say about it. It’s truly thrilling to listen to them!

It's not just those lines that imply that the character wants to prove themselves and have people notice them/not have to make an effort to do anything, but I'm using them as examples anyway. I connect with this song a lot. I get the vibe that it's more about fear of failure. You have goals and projects and things that you want to get done, but the moment you try it starts to fall apart and you get frustrated. Instead of bearing through the frustration and realizing it's part of the process we just do nothing instead, deciding to be content with apathy. yeah I'm projecting, but to me it feels like a kind of "It's fine I don't need to be perfect" as a cover up, like feeling dissatisfied with your life, afraid of messing up so just not trying, so close to a real sort of closure, but faking it. Not satisfied with *just* being alive, you have to make something perfect, but you don't think you will, so instead you do nothing, claiming to be happy this way. You can't disconnect what you do to your worth, so instead just ignore it all and set yourself in apathy. You grow comfortable and believe you are happy this way, all while retreating and becoming less and less productive, and in the back of your mind, this makes you feel worse, and so again, is ignored and overlooked with the front of "It's fine, I'm not doing anything because I'm happy this way"

I've seen people compare their content to jack stauber and while I do see parallels I also find it so unique and colorful in comparison and I'm glad I found this channel
I honestly think this is a lot more unique than Jack. They only parallel because they use clay a little bit along with paper. I used to be a massive fan of Stauber but a lot of his music is copy paste at this point. Same formula.

ITS AN ACTION FIGURE???
If I were to guess, this is a song about someone who's tired of trying. He wanted to be a fireman (douse fires), pluck at strings (play an instrument), and cook (simmer salt with blazing heat), but he failed so many times he started breaking those wishes down to their basic elements, trying to make them seem trivial so he wouldn't feel so bad about not trying anymore and instead do something fun to distract himself instead of doing something substancial (singing about nothing). And since he isn't doing anything substancial, each day feels the same to him, with nothing special or memorable (every day is another day). He's trying to cope with his own uselessness instead of bettering himself, saying that he's content as he is and that at least he still has things to be happy about (talking about how he's satisfied with just being alive and how he likes the sweet apple pie of pleasure rather than the coconut pie of obligation, that repulses him so much now that he says he's allergic to it. And how even though all of his failed attempts left him with a broken heart, he still has ice cream). Even as he fails to do a simple hand trick, he says that's not a lack of skill but that he simply didn't want to do it right, making excuses for himself instead of trying again. And now, even when he has an idea of what to do, a spark of hope for a new dream to persue, or even an old dream that he could still attempt to achieve again, he would rather not bother (talking about when someone else's broken dreams came to talk to him, he chose to go to sleep instead and forget about it. That someone else is probably himself, and he was disassociating as a coping mechanism).

In my opinion, this song is about procrastination. With the character being "too busy falling asleep" and "watching someone else's fractured dreams get up on their little feet", as well as "pouring my heart out in the sink" imply that this character wants to do big things in life, but keeps procrastinating, all while they watch other people follow their passions in life and succeed.
Edit: I know people don't like it when others comment on how many likes they have, but this is actually a special moment for me. I've never really had a moment where my comment has been this well received, and it genuinely makes my day to see people still replying to this. Thank you.

Something I love about Soddiken is how you can almost interpret some of their songs into other of their songs. Notice how the character says “but I don’t mind ‘cause I’ve got ice cream”? In “Gretel”, Gretel says “I imagine self worth and inner peace taste like artificial cherry, no wait maybe more like ice cream?”. It makes a lot of sense in this context too!

I agree with all the claims of this song being about procrastination after failing so many times and getting your dreams crushed over and over. Though, There's a pretty noticeable support for this that nobody I can see is mentioning. It's the length of the song. The full video is 1 minute and 42 seconds, 1 minute and 38 seconds if you take out the outro credits. However, the actual lyrics don't start until 32 seconds after the video starts. In my opinion, this perfectly brings home the message of procrastination from failure. The character here is so tired of trying that he doesn't even start to sing about his procrastination till a third of the way through the video! This is a great use of subtlety. I didn't even notice this detail until my second listen while reading the comments ahaha-

Another cool thing about this song is that since not a single line is repeated and there’s no actual chorus, just bridge after bridge building up to nothing, it leaves you feeling empty and craving more, wishing the song had more to offer and maybe was a little longer.
Just like the songs meaning. You keep getting excited to do things that your unable to do, and then it’s over before it begins, and you realize the “good part” was already happening, and you put it off so long you lost your chance.
And in the animation, with the ice cream it melts before it can be eaten. Just like how the song ends before the climax. It all lines up so well.

to me it comes off as the person feeling that they are where they want to be and seeing no reason to continue to get better at things, and just deciding to wing things, but acting like theyve been able to have the skill for awhile and that its a crazy acomplishment, which annoys the people around them (both the dinosaur and the deers dont seem very amused with the main character). and i do agree with the jealousy part but i can also see it as the main character seeing themselves as above people who continue to work for things and maybe someone tried to help them get better at things and they completely ignored it (to bad i wasnt listening) seeing the persons advice as worthless because in the main characters eyes this person has acomplished less and was below them (hence saying "somebody elses *fractured* dreams").

I feel like this one is a depiction of how a lack of motivation feels. Like, you have so much potential, but you find yourself put down in so many places, like from fear of failure, disability, depression, etc. so you never even attempt things you know full well you could do.

( the scenece where they try to get the deers attention and seeming confidant but it dosing workout so they just downplay it , them stating all the things they could do , the whole scene with "i could but i dot want to" ), not only are they seemingly losing it/ in denial, but they are also doing absolutely nothing to change it probably due to their mental state.( the end where sun thing which I'm assuming is someone in their life who they deem to have been successful pushing them and trying to motivate them, maybe even reaching out about their mental state, but they just shut them of and go to sleep)
even though all of that, we can gather that the mc is actually feeling guilty asf for not achieving much, they are at least subconsciously aware of their behavior and that shit hurts ( aka when the try to fall alseep with their back turned to the camera, the nothing scene)

I've seen a lot of people saying this is about procrastination and I agree but I think theres a little more to it. Instead of just procrastinating for the reasons you hear about it's about not doing anything in fear of failure . ok first watch through and my interpretation is that it's about "living up to your potential" and how we (as humans) have the ability to do so much, like with the "cool trick with my hands" line, but we don't have too. The part about "somebody else's fractured dreams" really nails that point home, but the singer remarks that they're content in themselves and not trying to be anything they don't want to be, "i was too busy falling asleep"

I'm trying to figure out why I feel like I relate to this song so much the more I listen to it. At first I was just thinking of it as like either procrastination or anything lack of motivation. But I think what really resonated with me was the main character seemingly trying to convince themself that they were satisfied with just being alive even though as the song went on it became more clear that they had regrets but also couldn't bring themselves to make big changes and work toward something only to fail again. It felt similar to when you get burnt so many times trying to do something that you can't justify it being worth the energy anymore. At least for me, I feel like I don't want to do anything but sleep and I try to ignore the feeling as long as I can so that I can just keep going through the motions of the day. Maybe that's why, even if it's not, I hope it can add to all of the other amazing theories here.

Things to support the procrastination theory that seem like smaller details that I noticed (from watching this on loop at midnight):
- the ice cream that appears on screen melts before its eaten
-Theyre watching tv, a common activity for procrastinating, only to go to sleep
-The "Look I can do a cool trick with my hands" moment. Wanting to be good at something, but lacking the ability to due to not practicing thoroughly. Then going onto to say "its because I don't want to" when you fail and not trying again
-They could do all of those things with their hands, but are they? no. Do they acknowledge they would be able to if they practiced? yeah. Which almost sounds like executive dysfunction to me, something I personally struggle with.
-The animals they morph into during the "its that I don't want to" line, they have to have some significance! I just cant figure it out. All four of those are hunters, and experts at that tbh, might be "blending in" but that could be a stretch

Maybe this is a bit too personal to be true, though I’m not special so I could be just self-cautious, but the part where each of the animals say that reminds me of my friends. I come up with so many ideas that just lead to nowhere and rot, it’s to the point where they’ll point out how they’ve said specifically phrases before that usually mean that I’m probably gonna forgot or avoid them again. It feels the same, I don’t know- It just feels like an “Of course, that’s why.” But in a sarcastic way.

Honestly the reason I think I just absolutely love sodikkens music is because I haven’t heard anything like it ever! There’s nothing I can compare it too! It’s just so foreign and unique and goddamn awesome!! It just makes me want to listen to it more because of the rapidly changing beats and lyrics. You never know what’s going to happen and that just makes me so compelled to it and wanting to keep listening again and again. I just can’t describe the overwhelming feeling of euphoria I get from their music!! There’s so many little details and things I could say about it. It’s truly thrilling to listen to them!

I have a theory about what this song may be trying to say
I think that it may represent wanting to do good things in life, and make an impact, but never being able to/not being able to bring yourself to. How do I know this? Two key lines: "Hey, look! I can do a cool trick with my hands! Nevermind, but it's not that I can't, it's that I don't want to!" and "I was too busy falling asleep." It's not just those lines that imply that the character wants to prove themselves and have people notice them/not have to make an effort to do anything, but I'm using them as examples anyway. Plus, the character keeps explaining what they can do, not what they can't. Plus, the "pouring my heart out" part also makes me think that this character wants to make something great, and tries doing it, but ultimately ends up falling short of what the character wanted.
So yeah, that's my thoughts on the song!
I love this character you made lol, all your designs, ideas, and scenarios have extra thought put into them, like an organic stream of thoughts, and the pressure to act normal, while being the opposite of what people expect you to be, you're clearly happy with being abnormal. I love it. Plus i like they look like their from an 80's animated televison series, like he-man or Thundercats lol, yet they are very androgynous, which I'm very much a fan of. :>
Also i relate to this characters situation very much, because i still live at home and I'm 19 waiting to get into college, and i have nothing productive to do, all i have are chores, video games, and tv, i can read sometimes, or even draw, and i take those small things as massive victories, while the rest of my family can do tons of productive things without overthinking it...I wish i could just be satisfied and push myself to enjoy learning new things again, but without school to push me, i can't find a good excuse to do that in my free time, so i kinda just zone out of reality and do whatever until i pass out at 5am...I'm a wreck hahahahahaha..

i first listened to this song when it came out, since i'd already been following Sodikken, but after nearly two years i've gotten a new perspective on it. since this song came out, i found out i have ADHD. one thing this makes me struggle with is executive dysfunction, which is exactly what this song reads to me as.
the lyrics read of someone who has so many things they want to do ("I could douse fires, Pluck at strings, Simmer black salt with blazing heat."), things they know they could do ("Hey! Look! I can do a cool trick with my hands!"), but they just can't, and they don't know why ("Nevermind but it's not that I can't, It's that I don't want to!" "Yet here I sing, About nothing.")
they read of someone who is trying, but it just doesn't work. ("I'm satisfied with being alive. Goals are like a coconut pie, That I'm allergic to." "Poured my heart out in the sink, With my cologne and left a big ol' gaping hole.") every day begins to feel the same, an endless loop of doing nothing no matter how hard they try. ("Everyday sits another day." "Too bad I wasn't listening, I was too busy falling asleep.")
despite this all, the lyrics show that they just don't understand WHY they're like this. and like most people, they try to ignore the problem, and try to distract themselves with simple pleasures that ultimately don't help anything. ("I like apple better anyway." "Chest cavity but I don't mind cuz I got ice cream.")
this might not be Sodikken's intention with the song, but it's how i see it, and art is made to be interpreted. looking at this song from the executive dysfunction angle is quite comforting to me, and maybe it'll be comforting to someone else to think of the song like this. idk, just putting my thoughts out here for the fun of it.

I believe this song is about pretending your fine, and here are some reasons i believe that:
The lyric: Yet here I sing about nothing, when the song is talking about their life/personality, so their pretending their okay and saying their trauma is "nothing"
The lyric: Goals are like a coconut pie, that im allergic to, is probably about not being able to succeed in goals.

I connect with this song a lot. I get the vibe that it's more about fear of failure. You have goals and projects and things that you want to get done, but the moment you try it starts to fall apart and you get frustrated.
Instead of bearing through the frustration and realizing it's part of the process we just do nothing instead, deciding to be content with apathy. This song is kinda relishing in that shallow satisfaction that apathy provides.
