Did the Swastika and Desoto including camping on that huge tailing pile at the Desoto, Blue Bell is next. We do SAR HART (high angle rescue team) so am able to get deep into the workings. The ADMMR maps and documents are very useful.
WOW! Just found your channel with the ZJ build up.. I went to the Blue Bell back in the 1990s and the road was open. DId you find out why it was closed??... also there was a Big iron door on one of the mines it was open so we went in..and much to our surprise we found Bats. haha you never saw 3 teenagers run so fast when they started to fly at us
Thanks for checking out the channel, Russell! Not sure if its "closed" or if the Forest Service just didn't feel like maintaining the road. I looked at Google Earth when I got back and it looks passable. The road through the mine is rough and spotty but you could probably make it through with decent effort. And there are still bats in the mine!
Great history! Interesting that, like the DeSoto, they had to use a tram to get the ore from the mine to the railroad. Looks like that one tunnel with the red door was open at the Blue Bell. Did you explore underground at all?

Very cool,we did a video at the DeSoto yesterday. The blue bell is now open from the Mayer side
Another sweet mine explore. I need to add this to the list.
Thanks, DD! The trail would be great on a two-wheeler. Supposedly there are some other mine shafts to check out too.
Looks like a good place to hoist down a Go Pro into some of those shafts
Thank you for the history! Helps me piece together my family history, as my ancestors worked in these mines.
Were there openings to the mine?
Aren't you I didn't know there was Bluebell mine in real life I never expected that but I like it because
Just found the changes, great video! Do you think a stock height Polaris Ranger or Can Am Defender could make this trip?

What do you consider high clearance?
big tires or a four wheel drive
I would say at least a couple inches of lift and at least 31s. You should be fine as long as you take your time!
