i've been using the billy sheehan strings for years since the were made by charlie singerland many years ago they are my favorite strings on a P bass .just bought a cheap frettless to fool around with after not having one for the last 12+ years .i had forgot how much fun the frettless can be. going to try rs77 on it .used to use chromes on my old yamaha frettless
Excellent review, and thank you very much! I’m amazed at how bright the 77’s and the SH’s are. They sound pretty close to roundwounds to my ears. Especially the 77’s.
I've had Roto 77's 40-100 on for about three weeks and they are quickly becoming my favorite flatwound. Tension is perfect. Hold tune and intonation really well. They are extremely musical and have a fair amount of sustain...yet also do the old school thump thing really well.
Rottosund makes the best Flatwound strings, they sound like Round wounds but the feel of regular flatwounds. They used to have "Ground Wounds" pretty much rounwounds that are ground smooth.
Love the Steven Harris set. I usually hate flatwounds but they had plenty of treble clank and grit that flatwounds usually don’t have except with a very clear powerful low end and mids. The Harris strings really stood out in a good way
Very good review! I have been using the Billy Sheehan set for, well, at least 20 years. But I have been thinking about the Steve Harris ones as the G string is more beefy, having a bigger tone with more bottom. The Sheehan G string sounds great for slapping but it is a little thin in a band setting (especially if you are NOT soloing).
That bass came to life with the Sheehans.

All were good. I liked the Billy Sheehan strings. I am a rotosound fan. The E string has to have the intonation reset. Seems a fair bit sharp.
5:48 almost qarter tone... lol
The Rotobass set is the best, better than the regular swing set,
Billy Sheehan Rotosound sounds deeper for me :-)

velvet touch taste 🤤
try with lemon oil on a fretless bass 🤤🎸🎸 you fly
Hi. Do you like more the Rotosounds 77 LD Flats or the Steve Harris signature SH 77 Flats? Thanks
maybe I'm out of my depth... but why slap, pop, and play harmonics on flatwounds? just to show these CAN do that plus the normal fw things?
