Hey. Top Hat Gaming Man. Can you please do a video on Guilty Gear X?
Funny story with my memories of the EX serie's in arcades: there was a guy at my local arcade in Brooklyn, NY who would stand on the side of the cabinet. Making Blanka's noises and screams while you played. Non-stop. He wasn't well mentally and I suppose that was his way of expressing enthusiasm about street fighter. But, man, he would scare families out of the arcade. Not me, though. Had to get my SF fix.
a very new york story lol. Hopefully that guy is doing alright these days.
The music, brah... The music. Easily some of the best in the entire series.
The problem with the people back in the day , is that they did not understand that this was an ARIKA game with SF characters as guests. not a new street fighter or the sucessor of the street fighter Saga, this was just a move from ARIKA to net money on their game. the game is amazing and unique in mechanics, the new characters are really colorful and fun , specially the likes of GARUDA,SKULLOMANIA, etc..
It was really Street Fighter x Fighting Layer.
I like to see a Street Fighter EX4 or have EX characters become playable in a Street Fighter game or have Street Fighter vs. Fighting EX Layer.
I think by now, it would be more appropriate to have Capcom send over their characters as DLC, rather than vice versa
I need garuda back in a streetfighter game
Instead of all those,
we got Fighting EX Layer.
Hokuto and Pullum Purna where my all time favs
There's some interviews of Street Fighter EX from *shmuplations* that needs translating. If someone is interested in voting for them.
Just so you guys know, I'm willing to vote for it, if I have more voters backing me up.
This was such an underrated game. I'm not sure the reviewers at the time really understood SF very well. Personally, I'd much rather play this online than SF4 or SF5.
The best deja vu ever!
Keep up the good work fella and stay safe. Hope LD and the sprogs are well.
Ex 3 was the perfect game for street fighter fans at the time. Tag matches. 2 on 2 at the same time on one screen. The end credits where you fight ppl and one guy keeps growing as he’s knocked down. Everyone I knew loved it. And you had to beat the game with ryu 8 times I think it was to get evil ryu when you hold select
I just spent tonight playing Street Fighter EX + alpha 2 and that made me look this video up. Kudos to giving recognition to one of the best of the forgotten series out there. I loved these games and feel they deserve their place in Street Fighter history.
As always, you rock!
Always enjoy watching your movies, Top Hat. Great work. The EX series is great.
The soundtrack is dope!
Shinji Hosoe for the win: Rising Dragon or Spinning Bird
Ex plus alpha is my all time favourite SF game! Ps3 is always connected to my TV with EX never out of it and my god that fuckin soundtrack 10/10
Awesome! This is the only series of videos i haven't watched separately.
Thanks 👌
And EX characters exist in the Street Fighter universe but not the stories.
The Dragon Ball GT of Street Fighter.
Yeah Zangief mentioned Darun Mister in V cinematic story he was holding Zangief Black Moon chest piece for him.
@@nerdscore6756 Wait really 😶 . Where in the story did he mention him?
@@nerdscore6756 Also believe most EX character had a entry on a Capcom site that talks on characters on the Street Fighter universe,
The EX series is underrated it should be remastered but Arika might be the ones to do that instead of Capcom.
there is fighting ex layer . a modern game to keep up the arika company.
Ex3 was one of my first ps2 games..I wish garuda would be brought in to the new games
Absolutely loved Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha... me and my friends spent hours playing that game.
I really liked this series, and it was fun having this offshoot roster of obscure Street Fighter characters.
The second half of the 90s were an exciting time to be into video games because developers were still figuring out what to do with 3D.
I always thought this game was unnecessarily hated on at the time, though it was a tad too focused on floaty air juggles and log combos, but that's ok. It made the combo challenges in the EX master mode extremely fun imo.
spent many nights passing the controllers around playing EX2 with my roommates so freaking long ago. great games. great video Mr Top Hat Gaming man
This games was great. It was very popular at the arcades & ps2 home console in Australia. Maybe a reason why the home console version didn't sell so well was due to the mod chips being available at the time for the ps2. I remember playing this heaps with my friends back in the days. It plays different to the 2d versions but once u get the hang of it, its really rewarding.
I love this series.. I was always hoping for a EX4. I even got EX Fighting Layer
Street fighter ex 2 plus alpha is amazing to me. Alpha 3 (the original port to ps1) is the best street fighter game for fun play. But ex 2 plus alpha was top 3 for me in terms of fun
Bet if the EX Series had some Jiggly R. Mika in it, people would've liked it more!
I cant think of a game that wouldn't be improved by some jiggly
This game feels so similar to street fighter 4. To me it's the prototype.
I know it's a year late but the real reason these games didn't do so well comes down to obscurity and no real reason to play.
At that time I was a hardcore FG gamer and I had no clue that there was a 3D SF game. I found out by sheer accident talking to someone at school who themselves barely even knew the name! lol He just said it was Street Fighter in 3D with Ken and Ryu doing their Hurricane kick differently. So one day at the video store I just happen to see a game with the Street Fighter title that I had never seen before and figured that must have been it.
The game wasn't even being sold at any of the retailers in the area, Gamestop included.
Even though I had a lot of fun playing "a Street Fighter game in a somewhat different way", there was just no reason for anyone to play it except the few differences from the mainline series. The 2nd one was actually quite boring! 😂 But at least it was less obscure than the first. And EX3 was definitely the best of them but by that time who cared? We had DOA2 which was damaging enough, let alone Soul Calibur. But Tekken Tag Tournament absolutely devoured Street Fighter EX3.
It didn't look or feel like traditional Street FIghter, but it wasn't different enough to compare with the main 3D FGs at the time. By trying to combine the best of two worlds we already had anyway, why would we have a reason to play it?
Your videos are always top quality you deserve wayyy more views and subs !!
Despite playing a lot of SF2 in the arcades and on Snes, and even more Alpha 2 on Psx, EX really broke open the floodgates of love for Street Fighter with me. I imported EX2 on release and printed out a translation for the missions so I could unlock the hidden characters. So good.

“Looking at this game with 2019 eyes......”
Me: 👀”Have I had a time slip?”
Fighting Ex Layer: Another Dash is a very fun fighter with a free demo on Switch. If you like SFEX, try it out!
Funny now that I'm busy playing street fighter X tekken🤣👏🏼
I wish we could get a tekken X street fighter
@@GetLostGames1 would suck
sameeeeeeeone one day we might
Good video, but i was just wandering if it was made before Fighting EX Layer Another Dash was announced?
The EX Series contains the following highlights for the series:
Best original characters/designs
Best post SF2 themes of classic characters (great music overall, but Third Strike IS king)
Best gameplay mechanics - guard breaks, Excels (far superior to A2 CC and A3 V-ISM) special/super cancels, momentary cancels, FANTASTIC tag mechanic, tag supers.
Also, almost none of the criticisms raised in this video hold any weight (SF EX having T1 graphics, clunky controls, fuck off)
Ooooo coming up on my 6 month sub icon.
The only arcade that had this game was the Santa Monica pier some 27 miles from me. I drove there in a 60s muscle car which got ten miles to gallon about 4 times a week so yeah I really loved this game lol. I used the wierd skeleton dude
I love the fact that not one of these reviews mentions the company that actually made the game instead giving credit to the publisher just people with smash bros.
Great Game! I really enjoyed this game, & I loved the new characters! Great Video!
I bought that game (ex Alpha) when it was released and loved it.
What's your opinion of the DOA series?
I thought you were only going to talk about SFEX but I am glad that you included the story of Fighting Layer, personally I enjoyed SFEX1 and 2 a lot, 3 was cool because of the changes but I expected something more and the truth is I would have preferred this saga to continue instead of SFIV coming out because I liked the EX-type gameplay better and its not-so-exaggerated 3D character design.
Theses street fighter🐲 ex plus alpha. & street fighter ex 2 plus, was around the same time that I had all tekkens games Tekken 1 Tekken 2 & Tekken 3... And I still do have them all except I can't play Street Fighter EX + Alpha for U guys because it's a Japanese version. Both games are Japanese and are both Region 🇯🇵 Locked, if I had Japanese version PS1 it might work 🤔, games which I used to own the original versions Aussie UK & Europe version of the titles. But later after sold it. Because I bought them pre-owned when EBgames was Selling out all of 👍Psone👌 title's🔒 which I think was crazy, because PS1 games are pretty expensive, especially on eBay almost as expensive as the Sega Master System Shinobi console UK and Europe version. I yet along played a lot of fighting games with my Cousins, they used to say piss off Shin Garuda to me. I couldn't of asked for a better childhood. I mean half of the time they got angry even with Super smash Brothers on & N-64 considering that came out in 1999 and then soon after. they invented the gamecube which had Super smash Brothers melee & dragon ball z Budokai, which I still remember everything even clay fighter 63 1/3, most of these games had a pretty good combo system they weren't very impossible to 🌎recognise🌎, and my cousins absolutely hated that because they didn't like the throwing system and whenever it came to Super smash Brothers on the N64 there's always want to make the teams unfair by making three of them against me, I remember how much arguing there was it was quite 😂 silly🤷♂️. Seeing that being by myself. Which I didn't mind I liked a good challenge sometimes, I think I'll say remember another one called bloody Roar and killer instinct gold✌️...
Street Fighter EX seems to finally be getting it's due credit. Thanks to Top'll Fix It for this video 👍👍
I love the EX series, we need EX4!
You're amazing Sir💯🌹💪🏿
I really love street fighter ex 3 I still play it from time to time
I remember playing EX years after it came out since my friends and I had absolutely no clue it was released let alone in the arcade for years, this game was up against the vs series of games witch was extremely popular in Ontario Canada why this game was over looked then and even now it just doesn't have enough to distinguish itself from other 3D Fighters
My Bro had a modded ps1 and managed to get a copied disc of ex alpha which I really liked as I could juggle and chain combos that I couldn't on the normal games.
I loved this game.....all PS1 and PS2 sequels
It looks like a polished homebrew/knockoff street fighter port to ps1, which I guess it was lol.
I love it!
They need to make a new street fighter movie based on the ex series that be epic 💯🍟
SFEX+a had the best new characters since the original ones, if they were all designed by nishitani then they are all as original as they can be and I wish we could have them in the main series
I loved EX+Alpha, I rank fighting games like this
CvS2> SF3 Third Strike> Alpha 3 > EX+Alpha > Alpha2/SF3 2nd Impact> SuperTurbo > all others
I Have probably play most on CvS2.> EX +Alpha> SF30th anni > SF2Champion(SEGA 16bit) > World Warrior SNES > MK Deadly Alliance > all others
Never really liked MK, Tekken, Virtua Fighter, KI, SNK games, Marvel vs Capcom,Xmen etc)
I always felt EX+ Alpha was good if you took it at face value, a fighter that played like an SF title, but looked like Tekken, and I felt te controls were pretty fluid for a PS1 fighting game. I also loved the 3 stage super gauge and the guard breaks
It was really hard for me to get into 3D fighters, because the graphics for 2D fighters looked so much better.
Liked 👍😉
I didn't mind these games. They were fun for the time but nothing ground breaking.
I'm sure the first one was the game that introduced me to the challenge mode?? 🤔
I personally I D.Dark and Skullmaina to have cannon playable appearances They really interest me
Garuda and kairi should join the current street fighter series those 2 were the best out of the ex series....garuda especially is so badass
That's not how you pronounce "Ryu"
ANOTHER CLASSIC
Everyone is familiar with Arika, they Did
Dr. Mario Online
Tetris 99
and my favorite Super Dragon Ball Z (an arcade fighter)
Do a history about bloody roar or primal rage
Damn, that first quote is a huge dis!
Btw, love your channel.
Thank you
I AM THE ETERNAL STREET FIGHTER EX PLUS ALPHA CHAMPION! They need an EX4!
They’re fun games to me at least for a few months at the time ex series wasn’t nothing compared to the main sf games but the ex games wasn’t that bad they were different let’s just say capcom was experimenting at the time 🤷🏿♂️😂
I think it looks cool.
I also love people constantly asking and complaining about 2d games being outdated asking when for them when you they get them they still find something to complain about there’s no pleasing. What’s point of giving people what they when they are never satisfied?
Nice video bro, but I'm telling ya cool it with the wrestling $hit. No one but you likes it. ;)
my most memorable street fighter ....and most played . I was quite let down by the modern gen version they made.
the characters animation was quite stiff and character design were too busy.
a simplistic design like the ps1 version with more polygons would have been really unique.
Where I grew up this was the most played game in the arcade club. Everyone was waiting for it on a cue damn hah Great game and memories.
It only frustrates me looking at how noob the recorded game play is 😅
I didnt even know Ex 3 existed
Best game ever
That's Maxamilian's theme.
SF EX PLUIS WAS A GREAT GAME.
Street Fighter 4 basically copied sfex with the 3 button supers and focus attack
"The dull and ugly side of the spectrum found in Street Fighter 3"
Jesus, that's worse than IGN's God Hand review.
I still play street fighter ex that music...
When I bought streetfighter EX3, the first thing I thought is that oh my god this game is trying desperately to be like taken but they don’t know how to be like tekken
Even down to the controller customization screen they copied that from Tekken
As I mentioned previously, the reason why Tekken is the greatest 3-D fighter of all time is because Tekken was so good that it essentially bullied each and every other fighting game in the 3-D genre into submission and obsoletion. Dead or Alive put up a fight but lost in the end
Virtual fighter was never in the discussion.
And I don’t know why people keep talking about depth in virtual fighter. I played two of the virtual fighter games and I found that they have less depth than Dead or Alive a game that has less depth than Tekken
Street fighter four is not a 3-D fighter. It is a fighting game that uses 3-D sprites but fights in an exclusive to the plane. How can you be a 3-D fighter if you cannot even sidestep
Do a vid about a free fighting game for the Pc it's unofficial but cool Terrordrome the rise of boogeyman about Horror movies characters fighting game
Street Fighter EX series is waaaaaay better than SFV
Sounds a bit generic but maybe they should've called it Street Fighter 3D... i had no idea what this was when I was young, and assumed it was just another Street Fighter. Hell my first introduction to Street Fighter was a cheap bootleg of Alpha 3, hoping it would be like my beloved Tekken. Obviously being bootleg it had no back of box or manual so I just found it confusing with Alpha 3 being as complex as it was. Glad I had alpha 3 over this obviously but to someone born in 94 the titles of Street Fighter games were hella confusing, and it took me a long time to become a fan
All of it still better than SFV.
Never understood why this series was never released on N64, it's not sprite based, so not a problem to the cache texture of the N64. Maybe Capcom/Arika were too busy kissing Sony a** that gen.
Ex is great I don't understand the hate
Complain about Street Fighter EX controls?!? Come on, these guys must be MK players lmao SF EX had the most easier commands to execute ever in the series, we could do some crazy combos that we couldn't do in any other SF games, even in the MVC series. Zangief always had the most difficult commands in the SF games but in EX series it was so easy that anyone could do it, plus it had that ↓→↓→ + kick move, the best super move Zangief ever had.
DARUN MISTER!!!!
I like EX 2 and 3 was much better in graphics.I did enjoy it , Ex 1 was too blocky and had too sharp jakard edges , it's kinda slow as well but theres 1 "MAIN " very important aspect, it lacked and that is every Street fighter 2 character or alpa etc had a story ending, this didn't, now where is the excitement and objective!???🤷♂️
Also, streetfighter EX failed and all the other 3-D fighting games eventually failed including dead or alive because Tekken bullied all of them into submission by being the best treaty fighter of all time
what a load to crap this a gem of a game, those reviewers didn't know what the hell they were talking about
Holla holla
This is literally just your other videos on the individual entries combined into a single video with no real thought into the editing as a lot of stuff repeats.
street fighter movie ok tell me about it
Rye-U
FFS There is a reason these games are 30-60 frames. Please make your vids without slowed down footage all of a sudden
Bushido blade? That game was trash. I only played it for a day all up and back to soul blade.
I have a strong dislike for Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha
That street fighter kind of sucked besides the super combos
