    I have the NutriMill Harvest and I love it. You definitely need to learn how to tweak it for fine flour. This is my first mill and I am very happy with it. Mine has the gold band. 🍞

    I've finally decided that, with my budget, I am going to get a manual grain mill. It may not grind as fine a flour but it will do well enough especiallyif we lose power. Thanks Johns Farm for your sponsorship! Thank you for your reviews. I need more help in finding a manual mill. Blessings 🥰

      I have the wondermill jr hand grinder and I really like it. I got it for the same reason...in case of power outage. I saved up and ordered the electric Wondermill but haven't received it yet. The hand grinder was just as expensive as the electric to be honest.

      I got the Nutrimill and my daughter got the hand mill that she show on an older video. To tell you the truth my daughter gets a finer flour then I do. You can take the handle out of the manual grinder and use a electric drill 😊

    I love my Mockmill. It's a lot like the Nutrimill except there's a bar on the side for setting the fineness of the grain which is really handy. I can grind my grains very fine...cake flour fine. And Mockmill can hold a lot of grain, too.

    On my other channel, I’m ready to do a comparison between the grain maker 99, the nutrimill classic and the mock mill if my neighbor will loan it to me.
    I ordered one of those mill with the stones in it, I don’t know if you realize this or not, but it has aluminum oxide in them. Supposedly chronic exposure can cause health problems. I don’t wanna say what brand it is cause they all use the same thing anyways but let’s just say I spent really good money on it because it was a commercial version. It didn’t mill the flour nearly as good as the Nutri mill, classic or the grain maker 99. it went back right away! Lol
    In my honest opinion, the grain maker wins, hands-down in all categories except for one. I’m milling flour for people now and the grain maker just cannot do fine rice, flour, even if you rerun it.
    The nutrimill classic does do it nice and fine, but it makes a mess. I may be getting wonder mill like you got soon for the gluten-free aspect of what I’m doing.
    If people are serious about making all their own food like milling nixtimilizd corn, like I saw on your other video, nut butters and decent flour, the grainmaker is hands down the best option. Though it is one of those “Buy once cry once” things.😂
    The test will be done with a #50 sifting screen. I have these one of those chinese sifter’s thats electric and big. So far I love it! But again, my Initial observations is the grain maker 99 beat em both in the fineness department. The experiment will be interesting because I finally bought the right motor straight from grain maker for a hefty price. I had the country living grain mill motor kit running it, and to my dismay it in no way had enough power to use the larger auger which would runs beans and corn! It would lock right up. Looking at the design of the larger auger that comes with the grainmaker 99, it basically crunches the grain down just before it reaches the milling plates! I suspect I will have better results now with a better motor and that larger auger.

    Hi, great content. I was wondering which mill produces a finer texture between the nutri mill on its finest settings versus the wonder mill? I have the nutri mill and when milling black beans it does not mill it the whole batch fine enough at times, forcing me to use a sifter to sift out the bigger pieces. Any advice is much appreciated!

    Hello Felicia! Have you heard of the Royal Lee mill? I actually tried to purchase a Komo, but it was on backorder and I just got word it's going to be even longer now so I'm leaning towards the Royal Lee because it grinds super fine flour. I wanted a Komo or Nutrimill for the looks but I read it doesn't grind a fine pastry flour.

    • @GrainsandGrit
      @GrainsandGrit  2 роки тому +2

      Royal Lee company was originally founded by a MD, I believe, Dr. LEE and he was interested in whole nutrition etc. It appears to be a beautiful manuel mill,but expensive. I considered it too and I believe it is very respectable when compared to other hand mills (Wonder Mill Jr. DELUXE, Family Grain Mill, Country Grain Mill and the really expensive one ,Diamont. I don't need large quantities for a family of four, so I picked a small Korn Kraft (Mulino) that looks like a coffee grinder. Grinds easily with little effort but doesn't not fine grind, even with two milling passes. But....in an emergency, and even for most recipes ,if I want texture, it is functional, extremely well crafted in Germany. $170

    I just bought a Nutrimill Harvest on Black Friday 2023 and I will tell you why I'm disappointed in the quality. My bamboo lid has begun to peel apart around the circumference and warp. I've only wiped it out with a towel. NO water touched it. I began hearing noises in my kitchen over several days and couldn't find out the source. Then I saw the lid spreading apart over 1/2" gap and warping.. I have sent and email and pics to Nutrimill and am waiting for a response. It is supposed to have a 5 yr warranty, I believe.

    I love my Nutrimill Harvest, but I’m also still learning. And yes, trying to get the right coarseness is something I’m getting a better feel for the more I use it. But, did you say you mill your corn grits on the Harvest? I didn’t think we could. I’ve actually been considering an additional impact mill to do some of the things that the Harvest can’t. I’ve been milling my corn on a manual mill, so I’d definitely like to have that option with my Nutrimill Harvest. What is your process?

    • @GrainsandGrit
      @GrainsandGrit  2 роки тому +1

      Yes I mill corn very frequently! It takes longer than wheat, but you can do it. You also may need to adjust the grinders to be closer to the 6pm spot to help them go through.
      So long as the corn is dried, you can mill it 😄

      I’ve never had any issues with either of those grains. I mill at the typical 7 or 8:00 position and they come out super fine!
      Make sure you grains are very dry and, occasionally, you will need to take the stones out and brush them to clean them up.
