The first shot I ever played on a full size table was almost identical to the first pot. I was about 11 and people in the club thought I was some kind of future pro. Skip to now and my record break is 9.
That Pink by Peter Ebdon wins it by far. A semifinal, he is behind, he misses he is out, he then pots it and wins 2 other frames and then beats great Stephen Hendry to winn the championship. Considering all these factors in my opinion it is one of the greatest pressure pots of snooker history, with the best possible end result.
Even when you're watching a video litteraly named "The bravest shots" you still can't quite believe some of the ones you see here... It's simply incredible what these guys can do... Thanks for the video :)
Great video! One of the shots reminded me of Gary Wilson v Brecel in the WC a couple of years ago. Especially Brecel's snookers and Wilson's escapes were unbelievable, it was one of the highest quality matches I've ever seen!
Billy Chan he should be able to play a good shot for the amount of time he wastes in thinking about it. Then he stops and looks around at everybody's reaction, including his opponent. Like, what did u think of that shot. Aren't I brilliant? The guys a creep
Good job at hating online in the most uninspired way possible you guys. In the comment section on a snooker video on how slow Ebdon is, good one. These shots by him were incredible. True bold gutsy all or nothing shots. There is a good reason ebdon is among the top 20 players of all time.
@@corallaroc2946 I agree. Ok, he's not very exciting to watch but that's his game, he unsettles opponents with it and he can play and beat anyone on the day.
If he had didn’t pot it he was out and potting the blue was a re-spot black which was a nerve racket so he played the brave shot that made all the difference as he went full blooded
Peter was slow but he was also a fantastic Snooker Player , I've been a League Player since 1978 and it's not the speed of your play that matters just the quality ....
if memory serves, Bingham did a rough break. Instead of doing the usual rebound kiss, he blasted the balls. Nothing went in. Then Lisowski took his shot and it lead to what you saw.
"all or nothing", "do or die" - these phrases are just for the decisive frames/shots. not appropriate when the score is 1:1 and they play to 11 frames ;-)
Every frame counts. The game would be really boring if the players were like 'well I'm 36-0 down in the third frame so I'll sit this one out'. One frame at a time.
So you don't think Tumps shot at 13:03 was an all or nothing shot? Even though its 1:1 I think its appropriate because it was a difficult shot which basically decided whether he lost the frame there and then or if he still had a chance to make a comback and clinch the frame
Excellent video. Interesting that the 2 stand out shots for me were both by Peter Ebdon who like Cliff Thorburn was a bit of a grinder. The really difficult pink in the semi-final of the World Championship - it had to go in to stay in the match, he knocked it in and got position on the yellow, won the next 3 frames to win the match, then beat Hendry in the final. Also amazing was the ridiculously difficult pink ball he knocked in against Higgins, which was my second fav. Peter Ebdon was not by any means the best player, but given the context of the matches those 2 shots he made are for me the 2 greatest shots in the history of televised snooker.
Watch the world semifinals of Alex Higgins and Jimmy white and nearly every shot Alex played was a pressure shot and he was out of position so many times and some of the stuff he put on the white ball to get back into a chance to carry on the break was incredible, it would make some of these shots look like club shots, many if not all pro players say it’s the best break ever
When Peter Ebdon plays a brilliant shot at 7:47 , it's like 2 people clapping in the crowd.😂 When Trump plays an amazing shot, it's like the whole town's dancing!
Nothing is safe with the level of skill these players have. I’m sure the tables are better to play on as well but all credit for taking on the shots in the first place nerves of steel!
No he needed the snooker after that but black was the only ball that kept it one snooker. He did still take the frame so you're right there. Still an immense frame to steal and probs my favourite shot.
P.Ebdon is the last person wanted/expected to see taking the best shot at the end 😂 Simply hated every game played by Ebdon. Since he stopped playing I've started to watch snooker again lol
that will be because your either immature/stupid or just plain ignorant, there are all different types of player that play snooker, Davis was one of the slowest but he was a super player, for god's sake he beat o'sullivan, I prefer to play fast but I can still appreciate slow players
Bill/William Scott It seems like a reasonable comment on how boring and creepy the guy is. Did u ever see the video of him lying extendedly on the floor after his opponent fluked a shot?
You don't get to three world finals and win one of them without being any good or tough. The year he won the world title he came from two down with three to play in the semi final as was shown here in his pot vs Matthew Stevens.
Do you mean pool? Because it would be equally tricky in English billiards. If you do mean pool, the main differences are that the table is far, far bigger, the pockets are far, far tighter and, in particular, making shots along the rail (or "potting along the cushion", as we say) requires way more precision. If you do mean English billiards I'm fully baffled.
They are all brave shots.I have seen similar shots, that did not work out.In the video there was one shot where the player,if I am correct used the spider extension over the pack of red balls to hit the black ball.It was a risky shot, but the black ball went into the pocket. That was definitely a do or die shot. That is one of the best shots I have ever seen. The greatest shot was when Jimmy White was in a snooker. He hit the white ball, which was in front of another ball. Both balls were on the side cushion.Jimmy hit the ball forward and it hit the cushion, and came back down the table, and hit the ball he was snookered on.He could not strike the white ball as usual. He must of put spin, side or whatever on the white ball.To hit the ball he was snookered on,that was the greatest and bravest shot ever.
How can they play a competition on a table with so many scuff marks on it at 7:46 ??? Feels like this would affect ball movement in ways you can't predict.
Why is it considered as a Do or Die moments for players like Matthew Stevens who are leading by 5 frames at 1:19 and possibly playing his final frame of the match? i dont think that is considered as a pressure shot
There are a lot of breaks in this video with very dispersed reds, all up and down the table. Was that normal at one time? I'm a relatively new and casual fan, and recent events the players seem to do very controlled breaks, peeling off just a few reds at a time.
not at all, I think. I suppose it seems this way because so, so many frames have been played in snooker history and the concept of this compilation closely concerns the type of situation you have observed, so it is rather a simple coincidence.
5:44 I am potting these ones by 50% ratio, dont get it whats the big deal here.. And to claim it as "top 3 pots of life" by Parrot and "unbelievable" by Virgo.. kinda funny. A bit too funny.
brave shots indeed, wouldnt call them do or die myself if that isnt a decider or the last frame his opponent needed. Hendry owned the two bravest shots though - The blue with rest against Davis in UK and the brown against white in the world final
