Big corporations are complex entities. They look glossy on the outside but behind that facade, there are all sorts of shady secrets they try hard to keep hidden. And the more the corporation has to interact with the general public, the more frantic it gets trying to keep the rotten underbelly from being exposed. With that ominous introduction, you probably know what’s coming. Walmart is in the title so obviously, we’re going to look at 10 secrets Walmart doesn’t want you to know.
If you enjoyed this list of 10 secrets Walmart doesn't want you to know, then comment: #Walmart #Food #Secrets
    TIMESTAMPS:
0:32 Store-brand Supplements Are Not Worth It
    1:50 Discrimination
    3:12 Avoid Walmart Organic Food
    4:22 No Background Checks
    5:41 Online Prices
    6:47 Harsh Work Conditions
8:09 Keep an Eye on Deep Discounts
    9:22 The Early Bird
    10:19 The Clearance Section
11:27 Say No to Walmart Furniture
    SUMMARIES:
    - Not the darkest secret in the bag nor is it the biggest skeleton in the Walmart closet but we’re just getting started here. Now the thing about supplements is that unless they’re prescribed by a doctor and come from a reputable and trusted source, you should really steer clear from them.
    - Now we all know that discrimination in the workplace is a serious problem. And most large corporations do their best to polish their public image and show that this kind of behavior is not tolerated.
    - Organic groceries imply lack of antibiotics and clean and healthy food to put on your table. Of course, this healthy food comes at a price. Organic food is usually pricier than its non-organic counterpart.
    - Every employer no matter how big or small tries to vet new employees before hiring them. This is especially true if the employee is someone who will be interacting with the customers. Background checks ensure that the staff has no criminal records or violent past that might put the public at risk.
    - As with most businesses, Walmart usually tries to attract customers by offering discounted prices online. You just go to their website and browse around. You’ll find daily promotions and discounts on several items and products.
    - We’ve all heard it before. Giant companies benefiting from sweatshops in poor countries where the work conditions are abhorrent and the workers get treated unfairly. It has to do with cutting down the cost of labor and increasing their profit margins.
    - There are two types of shoppers. Those who drive to the nearest retailer with or without a shopping list. They go in there, grab a cart and start filling it up with the stuff they need. Then they head to the nearest checkout, pay, and leave.
    - You must have heard of the early bird adage. Well, it’s more than an adage and it’s not just that your mom was trying to get you out of bed in time to catch the school bus. And if you were wondering what kind of worm you were supposed to catch as you hustled bleary-eyed every morning to get to school on time, well, Walmart has got the answer.
    - This is not exactly a secret, but most people who spend hours shopping at Walmart go blissfully unaware of its existence. We’re talking of course about the clearance section.
    - Who doesn’t love cheap stuff? All along we’ve been focusing on how to get the best deals and pay less to get more. So what’s wrong with Walmart’s cheap stuff? Well, nothing if you’re buying bread or non-organic vegetables.

For treating every customer as a potential thief, video taping our every move and trying to check our carts and receipts when we leave , for supporting foreign sweat shops, for a multibillionaire family paying their workers next to minimum wage with no unions allowed, is the reason why I no longer go there. There are hundreds of stores in my area. This, is just one of them.

I used to check out WM's clearance sections (bakery stuff as well as non-food item areas) but gave up because I thought everything was STILL over-priced even though it had been marked done. And, in non-food item clearance section, just about everything was JUNK. If they really wanted to get rid of it, they needed to charge much less. And, with food items, it's even worse. We're talking about STALE stuff, and since it was low-quality even when it was fresh, it's now barely edible.

It seems that there was no fact checking done before the production of this video. As a Walmart employee I can tell you that they run background checks with 100% certainty, and have done so for at least the last 12 years. I started with Walmart in 2007 and was given a background check. I left in 2011 and tried to return later that year but my background check didn't clear because my former manager had me skip over the criminal history section during the interview because she didn't know that in 2005 I was arrested for assault (for defending my mom from her ex who had just punched her in the back) and the only reason I failed was because it looked like I was trying to hide it even though i divulged that information in 2007 when I was hired the first time. I was later rehired in 2013.

As a former WM manager, they do the standard criminal background checks for their hiring process. As for background checks as far as sexual harassment is concerned, if a potential employee was fired from a previous job due to such allegations its doubtful that person would list that job as a reference or on their employment history which means that Walmart wouldn't know about it unless what this person did went public or was common knowledge. If you are applying for an entry level position (which is often part-time) they usually don't bother with checking job references and will hire based on criminal background check, how you conduct yourself during your interview, and whether or not you have a pulse. This is a very standard hiring practice among low-end retail/service jobs. People are not going to advertise the fact that they are dogs/pigs when they're trying to get a job and its often not clear at all which people you hire will end up being sexual harassment offenders. This is a problem not just at Walmart but at all companies that employ humans lol

As far as the clearance section for the store it is very clearly marked with those big yellow clearance signs as shown in the video. You can also ask any associate and they can show you. The best clearance deals will be right in front of you as you walk through a department though. When they set new modulars in an area, they add new items and phase out some to make room. They put clearance price stickers and bright yellow clearance flags in place of the normal shelf tag. You get huge markdowns as they just need to free up the space. When shopping for groceries or other consumables look for these great deals. A lot of departments have a set space in their department for clearance items also ask or look around the department . Also if you want killer deals on candy , go at 12 am as holidays end and they are officially past Easter , Halloween or whatever. The holiday candy is 50 percent off at that point. If anything makes it a couple days past then it goes to 75 percent off.

Whoever the person in the video they shown was a 1 in a1000 situation that could happen. 2. The clearance section is NEVER hidden. We are trying to get rid of this stuff! Most stores like mine are smaller and we have to find an area to put the items. Most of the things we can keep in the area until the mod changes. 3. A lot of the vitamins that are sold are FDA approved. There are wayyyy more things you could have posted about the company that almost any employer can agree on. Next time check your facts before posting.

I wish they would make a video about Wal-Mart's open door hiring policy and how dysfunctional it is. I didn't have to have an interview with anybody to get my job at Wal-Mart. I applied online and then somebody called me in. When I got there, I was asked which of the two job openings that had available did I want. There was never any initial conversation between me and a real live Wal-Mart employee BEFORE I took the job to see I was a good fit. No worries though; I eliminated myself in three weeks. I am assuming they do this to avoid discrimination which is very ironic because I think it would have been legal, in my case, to hire a Spanish-speaking person instead of me because I was hired to assist someone who speaks no English. If the personnel manager had COMMUNICATED with the Assistant Manager who works at night about what the needs are on third shift, these little details could have gotten ironed out ahead of time. Just because somebody passed a background check doesn't mean they belong on a crew at Wal-Mart. A person could be psychotic, racist, or bi-polar just to name a few fucked-up personality traits that can make a person hard to work with. That little thing called a live Interview can help with that. I came to Wal-Mart to learn about the retail business but the lesson I got was not what I expected.

I recently made an online order & picked it up in my local store. The experience left me never wanting to repeat it & when the Walmart Corp asked me to fill out an online survey about my "experience", I let them know about the negatives & the things I saw while I was at their store. A few days later, I get a call on my cell phone from a store employee trying to tell me why they do what they do. All this did for me was solidify my disdain for them & the way they treat their people and their customers! I will never ever set foot nor do an online order again @ Walmart. They gave me the feeling I was being stalked & bullied into being wrong about what I experienced. WOW is all I can say & SHAME ON YOU WALMART!

It's very illigal to lie about the amount of vitamins in a supplement especially because a lot of them are recommended by doctors (I have a vitamin D deficiency and Need it). Whats more likely is that wal mart is such a big chain it can buy more in bulk therefore making the supplements cost less.

If your buying vitamins at Wal-Mart read the ingredients vs another brand to determine if taking the supplement is beneficial. I also have a vitamin D deficiency and my doctor writes a subscription for it. I was currently taking vitamin D twice a day so I was surprised after my blood work showed depleted levels. After I got the prescription it's 5000 iu vs 1000 iu I was buying from the shelf. Also you take vitamin D first thing in the morning after eating a protein or with milk so your body absorbs it. If you can take vitamin D alone and later in the day take your other medicine or supplements.

Could make several comments, but will just hit the ones I remember best:
I do not shop regularly at Wal-Mart but have visited more often lately. I did not know there was a Clearance section until I found it in 1 store by accident. (BTW, Target stores have 1 also, and they "hide" it, too). That said, I have only found it in a few of the stores and it is not very big.
The idea that online prices are different from store prices would only make sense if the items online were NOT in stores and only available for shipping to your home. The way it is shown in this video it obviously adds yet another (UNNECESSARY) time consuming layer/holdup to the process at the cashier.
Finally, it is nice to know that if I ever wanted to buy food at Wal-Mart (I only buy food products there that I can't get anywhere else) that I have another reason to shop early. I usually shop there just after opening because the store is less crowded.

I thought this was going to be a video about getting some deals. As I watched I just saw one falsehood after another. The generic over the counter supplements are cheaper due to not having to have the name brand. Most are packaged in the same places as the name brands. Different labels are inserted. Second you have to by law run a background check. Not one company I ever worked for and I did a lot of hiring myself intentionally didn’t run background checks. You have to check for citizenship and felonies. Walmart’s ass would be in a sling if they didn’t. The cheap furniture for the cheap price sums up what you are stating. If I get a 10 dollar lamp I don’t expect it to last for 50 years. I could keep going and going. Hey I get a lot of people don’t like Walmart. At least bring facts. I mean you have to show all ingredients and values in everything on the packaging? You can’t sell fictional ingredients? There would be far more then a UA-cam channel talking about that. With as many people that headhunt the destruction of Walmart. This would be big CNN stuff this is not a 3rd world country. There are strict regulations on people knowing what they are consuming. I mean this was 90% nonsense and I’m not even pro Walmart or anything.

It was in the news about their store brand supplements not having the right amount of ingredients in them.

About the background check one... it's not true for every Walmart. Me and my brother both had a background check when we worked there.

It's up to each Walmart store's manager, if they want to match online prices. At least that's what the Walmart in my home town said when they failed to match their price online, for an item I was there specifically to get the online price for.

While i was working at Walmart they told me if a customer gets real aggressive with you and starts punching you or whatever, you should run to the nearest safest area and that you cant hit back unless if he has a harmful tool🤦🏼‍♀️ but no they don’t do background checks and they didn’t even give me an interview! They hired me on the spot

Too bad most of this isn't true. Walmart DOES do back ground checks on all employees. The store brands Walmart sells are usually produced in the same factories that sell the name brands, they're cheaper because Walmart pays the factories less per item because they buy ship loads at a time.

A lawsuit by Walmart against this channel would be interesting. Walmart would win.

I worked at Walmart before. I was born missing half my left arm and working cleaning I had a hard time doing my job (emptying the bottle boxes from the return machines, the squeegee machine ect.) due to my arm. I asked if I could be switched to a different position and they told me no after I explained my issue. So I quit. Later though I found out I could have talked to the day manager (I worked night shift) and they would have. But no one told me. They even talked about how horrible of a job I did when the person who trained me didn’t even do a good job either. I have a new job thats better than that one.
