Brought back many memories of my cruising with Carnival in the 1990’s!! Except for the blue strings - the life jackets are basically the same!! I used to think the crew was crazy when they showed us what we should do if we had to “jump” off the ship - cross your arms tight around the life vest, hold your nose closed, pull down on the life jacket & step off the ship (but before that go to your cabin & get a warm jacket & your medicine)!! Nope - not me!! I’m not stepping off a cruise ship & dropping down into the water - and I’ve also decided that if I know the ship is going down - I’m not heading back to my cabin for my life jacket - going directly to the closest lifeboat station, grabbing a life jacket nearby & getting on that lifeboat - or I’ll just go up to the buffet, eat all the desserts & go down with the ship!! I use a mobility scooter while cruising - and the crew always directs me to the elevators- I can see them deciding if they could lift the scooter & me down the stairs - nope!!
Hey Sal, my wife and I took our first cruise this past November out of Long Beach, CA with Carnival. We had a great time and are already planning our next cruise. We have watched your videos and thanks to you got some great information to assist us on our vacation. Thank you and keep up the great work!
BTW - Princess now has a great life boat drill - broadcast on a tv screen, done to the Love Boat theme music with some of the original cast members from the Love Boat! Lots of fun to watch - and now done in a lounge or bar - not on the promenade deck!
My guess is that this is from 2002. When the crew member demonstrates how to wear the life vest, it says "Carnival Pride" on a white patch sewn on the vest. Also Bob Dickinson was President of CCL until 2002. In 2003, he became President and CEO. This is definitely not 90's.
@Michael A I don't make the rules, that's just what they said. What about the buffet waste? Or just regular food waste? They decided to start with the room service.
I am actually on the Carnival Sesation… Pulling out of port. But I found this old video and thought it would be fun to share it. I will be making lots of videos on board to share with you including even a couple of live streams. Stay tuned…

Thanks for taking my video, reuploading it two years after me and slapping your Patreon to it lol
So glad we don’t have to wear the life jackets to the drill anymore.
We remember wearing them started cruising in2008 not sure when we quit doing the life jackets
I am glad it is not called a Lifeboat Drill anymore, since they fall off at the most inopportune time.

I remember this in 2006.
When was that video made, early 2000’s?
Looks pretty 90s to me.

Thanks for the information
Sal- was that the XL Ship Concept in the background?
I am wondering the same thing. Definitely looks different then the ships of that era.
5:23 THE MOST INTERESTING OF THE WHOLE VIDEO!!!
THE POOR LIFEBOAT IS GETTING USED AS A SLAVE 😭😭😭
Thank you for the info.
Did the lady say the MASTER will decide if abandon ship is needed? Did she mean the captain or is this an old term like carnival capers news letter
Nautical terms the captain is known as the master.
Thank you
Is it true that Carnival will be charging per item for room service?
Yes. Except continental breakfast in the morning
