Hi Robert, I saw in another video that you asked what kind of clay, watching other videos from the same channel I worked out that the clay must contain grog. It makes the object more stable.
vulcanswork , thanks for that, yes it did give me that impression, it seemed to have a lot of texture and it seemed a bit on the dry side. Very interesting though . Cheers Bob 🇬🇧

I love how you made the texture of the plate. ‘God is in the details’ indeed! And oribe is one of my favorite glazes. Any specific reason why you sprayed the glaze on instead of dipping it in the bucket?
starcrossing In case of my clay, pinholes are easy to come out when if I chose the soaking method.
It works better to use a compressor. That’s why I use a compressor.

I used Shigaraki clay. The clay has fine sand in it not grog.

Why was there metal coating? Was it from the glaze that you used? Beautiful plate btw!
The glaze I use is called ORIBE in Japanese. It contains copper component, so the metal coating remains after firing. I use vinegar to remove it (^O^) Thank you for watching.
We use Pool water supplement and to the water .soak Oribe glazed work to get lid of metallic coat.

Monika Valach Name of the glaze is ORIBE contains copper. This glaze is my original.

Thank you for watching my video. This Oribe glaze was purchased from a glaze shop near me. So unfortunately I do not know the detailed recipe. However, Oribe glaze is a popular glaze and can be easily purchased online. Oribe glaze does not use green pigment, but uses copper to produce the green color.

Mahi Alttnchy What kind of shiny hue ??? I’m so sorry I cannot understand the meaning of it. Just I used Oribe glaze including copper. And after firing I used vinegar and water to remove metal coating of the surface. That all I did .

I use ash applied after 赤天目 glazing...
M Khonger I do not make my own glaze. I buy Oribe from a glaze shop. So, I don’t know the detailed ingredients. Sorry ! Thanks for your comment.

How are you dealing with silica dust when using sandpaper on dry clay? Are you doing this outside?
Thank you very much for watching. I have a place to use an air compressor. There is a ventilation fan and I use it for dust.
Where does the metal that you wash off come from? Why do you have to wash it off?
The metal comes from the glaze. The glaze contains copper. By baking it, a metal film is created on the surface. The surface is dirty as it is, so vinegar is used to clean it.

Do you fire in a gas kiln?
Thank you for watching. I have gas kilns and an electric kiln. I use both kilns. This Oribe piece can be fired with the same color in both gas and electric kilns. Oxidizing firing.
what kind of clay?
polarstarcurly I use Shigaraki clay (信楽土).
この釉薬の名前教えて下さい！
織部釉薬です。一口に織部と言っても釉薬メーカーによってかなり違いがありますし、同じ釉薬でも焼成条件によってかなり違った風になります。
