He could very well be a guy not many teams have an interest in. Nice contract but he’s been invisible so far and I’m sure scouts are watching. It’s early yet but here’s hoping he picks it up. It’s easy to say trade this guy or that guy but you need a suitor.
Come on Bruce, Brannstroms contract isn’t enough. It’s $2M but he’d have to be replaced by Kleven at 960K, so the team only has 1M left. Pinto will cost at least double that.
Trading Brannstrom would be the dumbest thing they could do. Only guy that can jump in to the top 4 when injuries happen, and they do happen. The defence is finally strong after seven years… I would trade Chabot before Brannstrom and get a really good young RD in return. It's inevitable with Chychrun meeting to be signed soon.
I'm not a Chabot hater although he doesn't look comfortable on the right side. That being said, it might be time to trade him while his value is greatest, in order to sign Pinto and knowing that you will have to sign Chychrun down the road. That still leaves them with 2 strong puck movers on the backend. Get a solid shutdown defenseman for him and use the cap space for other players.
Might be a good trade. 8M off the books, add back ~2M for Pinto and ~3-4M for another D. That leaves around 2M for call ups or another move. But, he’s a core piece and a team leader…this may not be a popular move but might be necessary.
