her older sister Tatiana was generally considered the family beauty. Would be nice to see the entire family "progressed" through time. The Romanov men were also very handsome. Which got them into trouble often. In addition to simply the royals (Nicholas, Alix, Olga, Tatiana, Maria, Anastasia, Alexei), would be interesting so see some of the other Romanovs. GD Michael Alexandrovich (one of Nicholas' brothers) and GD Alexander Alexandrovich (one of Nicholas' uncles) and GD Dmitri Pavlovich (one of Nicholas' nephews and one of the killers of Rasputin. And while on the subject of Rasputin's murder, check out Felix Yussupov. He also helped murder Rasputin. Also, he was said to be the handsomest (and richest) man in Russia.

Who else got chills and a tear in their eye when the Grand Duchess Romanova "came to life"? Honestly, when she began to smile and move her eyes around I just got so emotional. There's a story I read somewhere that when the Romanovs were "house arrested" (before the various relocations) they had to change guards every now and then because every guard that would get acquainted with Maria would easily be enamored by her soft spoken attitude and beauty that guards would give them, her especially, good treatment (good food, additional clothing, etc.). There's even an incident Maria was given a cake on her birthday so she can celebrate it properly even though they were treated as "criminals".
@@Optimismus53 It's s scapegoat thing and there really is no "new ruler" that time. Most of the people doesn't even know the kids were subjected as criminals of war. The czar and his family wasn't even given a trial and the military knew the Romanovs will win the case (or even let the heir live which would be a threat to their new governance) if given a chance so they just blindsided this family and kept everything from the public. The executions are even not announced to the public because they knew killing innocent children would cause an uproar to their unstable ruling.
I can't get enough of Grand Duchess Maria, girl of my dreams since childhood. Coming back to the video again to see her animated alive. I've been captivated by her dazzling beauty since I saw her for the first time in a children's book here in Finland. Reading about her kindness and love for her family was so heartwarming. She was our Grand Duchess from 1899 when she was born until the revolution in 1917 as Finland was a part of the Russian Empire. Thank you sir, for this beautiful art and especially for bringing Her Imperial Highness to life. God bless her soul. ❤
How old are? And and at which age all this started, my story sounds so much like your, 3 weeks ago i get this video in my recommendation and still can enough as you did, i remember how i always liked her in childhood and everything related to her in my roughly speaking short life(i will be turning 17 soon), now i am very sad every time i remember her because there is some things that you couldn't turn back (just like her life) but this things already did a huge influence on your life, and you know that you will never forget this memories completely... There must be something unique in her, something that make people perceive her death as a personal tragedy, something that makes them feel sadness, sorrow. Watching old photos and videos with her and her family make you realise how illusory is our history perception, history always seemed to me as a something very remote... but they were the same people as we, they had their own feelings, experience's, thoughts and hopes for future, and now everything that remains from them is just bones, and they re should happy to have even this because communists wanted to remove every sign of their existence, their beautiful happy faces were smashed into bloody mess by rifle stocks, after that their bodies was torn to pieces using sapper shovels doused with acid, burned and then divided into two groups and buried so no one if even someone would ever find their remains could not identify them as a remains of imperial family, because if people would have know this, i think a lot of people turned away from communists and started to support whites. Only after USSR crush it become possible to properly investigate their bodies and bury them properly, i think some natives have known burial place location but kept this fact in secret until 1991. I always thought that i was the only one nerd stunned by her beauty and story behind it. I think i should be ashamed for this fact, ashamed to be a SIMP for her....hate this word, so il never told anyone about this. @KontriRod I'm totally with you, sir. For me it was only Maria all the way. I don't know exactly why indeed but she was just so gorgeous and her personality has attracted me so much since I was a young boy. @KontriRod What had happended is really sad, but children always pay for mistakes of their parents, and his father was a terrible man. He literally destroyed Russia, destroyed not only the present, but the future of this country too. I am still amazed how'd he'l be able to do this. Ruin the country with fertility rate of a Congo and economic Growth of China. Nicholas ll was a complete idiot, he turned away from him anyone in country. I know aristocrats is always unsatisfied with something, and always would find a reason to hate certain ruler, but turn aganist him even poor peasants with slave serfdom mentality who trusted him? After first russian revolution in 1905 he had 12 years to prevent the second one and he had done nothing to solve political and economical problems, all duma inintiatives including general education law were freezed by him personally. And there is a reason of why he was called Nicholas the Bloody, he gave orders to shoot into peaceful demonstration for reforms. Then in 1917 he was overthrown by provisional government, the provisional government then was overthrown by bolsheviks. Everyone know what happend next, civil war, then ussr create multiple states from russian territory, then Stalins repressions and mass purges, then Second World War then collapse of the soviet union. Now Russia did not have anything, country without independent economy, endangered country, native population of whose after decades will become become replaced by asian migrants. And the same applies to all Europe. Everyone thinks that Hitler is the main villain of the 20st century but if go deeper i think that Nicholas ll is one of the people who started all this chain which later have led to Hitler. After assasination of Franz Ferdinand he was the one who supported Serbia even though all world community knew who to blame for this. It is his fault that communists gained power not only in Russia but through leftist movements and with Russia's money all around the world(Red khmer terror is a good example of what this could cause) hell even what we see in America today is the result of soviet left propaganda. And because of that he is one of the people that should be blamed for rise of the nazi party in Germany because originally the party get popular because people dont wanted another communist country. So he is partially involved in ww2 and destruction of old europe we had known. European civilization will never recover from this. And russian orthodox church did make a saints from him and his family. The world gone mad...

I have always thought the Grand Duchess was beautiful in pictures I saw, but these are stunning. She was breathtakingly beautiful. What a horrible ending for her and her children. Her beauty was so natural no cosmetics or surgery’s, just beautiful. Wow, thanks for sharing these faces.
Lord Mountbatten was a first cousin to them and he kept a picture of the Grand Duchess Maria in his bedroom until he was killed later that century. Supposedly she was his first love.
I don't know if it is true... but it is said that the soldiers that had to execute them found the task difficult so they had to get drunk. And being wasted they couldn't even do a clean kill. I honestly have no idea what I would do if someone told me I have to kill kids.
This is what they would have looked like as they were being painted/photographed. Smiling, being a bit bored, looking around, blinking. Little human things. Marvelous really.
I'm sure humans had great attention spans before the advent of media... If anything, I'd say they were excited to have their picture/painting taken and seeing the end result. Maybe it was one of their forms of entertainment alongside theatre...
OMG The Grand Duchess Maria Romanov was a breath taking beauty. Even in black & white her beauty is blatantly obvious. Such evil cruelty slaughtered her & her family.
Communism didn't stop killing with the deaths of the Romanovs. It would go on to kill millions of more Russians as well as others around the globe. It is a cancer.
Seeing portraits brought to life, for me, has an eerie quality to it. It's like a view of the past that's hard to comprehend. These are real people who lived, and died. The wonder of this age!
Unseen beauty of today, because INNOCENCE is what make woman beautiful TODAY only children have this innocence in their eyes. A very young children only.
@ValZavr I think that rule only applies to the patronymic middle name, so it’s Maria Nikolaevna Romanov after her father Nikolai and the family name Romanov stays the same.
You can look at the old black and white pictures and portraits and easily see Maria was the most beautiful out of all her sisters but i love how you guys not only brought her portrait to life you even added a modern day 21st century hairstyle to her, in other words what Maria would look like if she was a 17 year old today. Brilliant job
The ‘re-animation’ (if that’s the right word) of the Grand Duchess Maria Nikolaevna of Russia is just captivating. It’s both wonderful and heartbreaking at the same time to see her move - and in colour, too. Maria had a rare beauty - stunning to look at, but coupled with a very natural and down-to-earth demeanour. Inner beauty as much as outer beauty. That’s why she is remembered with such fondness, over 100 years after her violent and untimely death. One very minor point for any ‘re-animators’ to consider in future: it’s not generally noticed (because, in most photographs of the Romanov children, they do not show their teeth when they smile), but Maria and each of her siblings had a slight gap between their front teeth. This was inherited from their Romanov father, the Tsar, who had it too, rather than from their Hessian mother, the Tsarina, who did not.

Really beautiful Maria Romanov, she was the most beautiful daughters of the Tsar. Giuseppe Verdi looks like the actor Patrick Dempsey. Thank you for your amazing work Mystery Scoop.
That's ironic because I read somewhere that people back then considered the oldest daughter the most beautiful. Although for today's standarts she would be considered average or even ugly by some people 🤷♂️
There is something crazy that they don't feel as real as they do the moment they smile. Something to see them smile grounds them to reality. Absolutely great work Nathan!!
@@47imagine Exactly. If any of these people smiled, they would most likely have a mouth full of crooked, rotting, or many missing teeth! If a photographer could go back in time for these portraits, he would likely say to them before snapping the shutter: "OK...ready...set....DON"T say cheese!" LOL
Have to agree with the previous comments. Queen Elizabeth 1st (daughter of Henry VIII) had notoriously bad teeth attributed to the popularity of refined sugar coming in from the colonies. Tobacco also came along and was smoked prodigiously by all classes and sexes up until the present day. Both of these pretty much ensured the best pictures (painted or photo) were ‘lips sealed’ . Don’t say “Cheese!”
She wasn't tortured. After they and Anastasia were still alive after the shots, they tried to finish them off with bayonets, but the jewelry sewn into corsets did not allow them to do this, and then they were finished off with shots to the head. There was no sadism.

Thank you having both Nikola Tesla and Alan Turing here. Two extraordinarily brilliant men whose existence changed the world for the better, and who were tormented by demons, both internal and external.
Tesla’s story of coming into the world is literally the best one I’ve ever heard. Apparently he was born during a really wild lightning storm and the midwife was freaking out saying he was going to be a child of darkness and his mother snapped back and said no he’s going to be a child of light 💡
As much as I admire Tesla, he had a tendency to overembellish his personal history. I am not saying the thunderstorm at birth anecdote is not factual, but he did have a tendency to claim certain things suggesting almost the 'paranormal.' It has to be remembered that brains was a known family trait, and as such Nikola was not out of the blue. I am sure I read in a book somewhere that he said once that he thought his older brother was even smarter than himself, but not so inclined to pursue it (before his unfortunate death).
When you animated Grand Duchess Maria she became hauntingly beautiful. What a weird sensation some animation can create. She's so gorgeous but also so sad at the same time.
Well I don't feel sorry for any member of Romanov family for what they did. Yes that includes Grand Duchess Maria Be beautiful doesn't make invulnerable 🤷🏻. That family was horrendous

@@c-b.s.7624 Mary's eyewitnesses described her as a typical Russian beauty with the character of a Russian woman. Of course, not all Europeans will make out, but she really has Slavic facial features.
Maria was the most beautiful of the Romanov sisters; down to earth, she loved children and wanted nothing more than to marry and have children of her own. Her eyes were large and gray, the family called them Maria's "saucers." Nicholas liked to hear when she did something wrong because he worried that she was just such a good, nearly perfect child who rarely got into mischief, as opposed to Anastasia who was the family clown, mimic and general terror. One thing about all the Romanov girls, aside from being possible carriers of hemophilia inherited through their mother from Queen Victoria, Alexandra and the girls all had a small gap between their front teeth. This is why you RARELY see them with all-out grins. They always have those closed mouth smiles. Were they alive today they would all have had orthodontic work done. You gave most of these images beautiful white teeth. I really doubt if Henry VIII had all his teeth by the age that Holbein painted him; but since we don't really know, you went with the complete sets. So that's OK.
Geniusz Tesla . Do tej pory nie wykorzystano jego wszystkich wynalazków , energii kosmicznej, Był fenomenem .. Kochał w swoim życiu tylko jedną kobietę, zonę swojego przyjaciela ..
Keep up the amazing work, I am a self-taught graphic designer for the past 30 years and I love seeing how technology got so advanced that it can bring these images to life with a couple of clicks. It used to take me months, to make an old photograph smile back when I first start using Photoshop 2.0 back in February of 1991.
I want to see this technology tested for accuracy by having someone use a photo of a living, modern person whom the technician does not know. Have them do their simulation using the still image, then let's compare it to the look of the actual person doing those facial expressions on video.
I know that when I’ve seen the Snapchat filters that give me a fake smile, the lower part of my face looks quite a bit different. I have straight teeth, but a little gap in my front teeth and a very slight overbite. The Snapchat filters make all of my teeth look the same size, change my mouth shape, and even change the bottom portion of my jawline. (I believe the last part is due to my bite.) Still, this technology is still pretty cool.
This brought tears to my eyes. Seeing historical people brought to life with such detail and realism from so little information as in a grainy photograph or painting is incredible.
Same here. Knowing how badly Alan Turing was treated by society after all he did for his country, I almost cried seeing what his face could have looked like today if he were never assaulted and driven to suicide.
Duchess Maria has that timeless beauty, no matter what era she lives, people will always find her to be beautiful. She would be a Victoria Secret supermodel if she lives in our times lol.
Yes, a wonderous smile Henry likely paid no mind to only seeing the girl as a vessel to produce the male successor he wanted so badly! Ugh, the man was simply disgusting when it came to ladies!
Henry was a tragedy in the lives of every family member he had (wives, children, concubines...). He threw away a faithful wife, beloved of his nation for a son. Then he killed his second wife over what he KNEW were trumped up charges, because SHE didn't give a son. He threw away Ann's sister as well. Catherine Howard was WAAAAAY too young to handle the rigors of life as that man's wife, and he HAD to know (but he didn't care. She was a hottie.) Jane Seymour, mother to his son Phillip, died because he INSISTED she be put in the cold to attend the Baptism before she'd recovered from the difficult delivery. She basically died of pneumonia (so much for being Henry's "beloved ") The German girl actually got away with her life, health, sanity and a nice annulment pay off). Catherine Parr fared well for her time as queen as well. By then Henry was too damn old and sick to force himself on her. She got the benefit of living in the castle without all other BS. Henry even disregarded his mother over her warnings not to marry his brother's widow. He put mom away for her thoughts. She KNEW being married to the daughter of Isabella and Ferdinand of Spain would be trouble. The Pope was pretty much in the back pocket of her parents for ridding Spain of Islam. Kings ruled with and by the whims of The Pope. Henry was so headstrong and egotistical he couldn't see anyone else's perspective. That's a terrible person in any situation...but as a monarch, it's absolutely going to lead to some serious horror. His son even died young for lack of a mother. His health was Always frail. Mary was deeply traumatized, and bitter. She caused so much killing in England.
The history written that Grand Duchess Maria was said "perfect" by court attendances. Her father said: Who can get her? She is "perfect". They said she was intelligent, skillful, beautiful, and was being "motherhood".
Loved the planter's daughter, whose painting was obviously commissioned to laud her beauty,Verdi-- with a beautiful smiling face and the Romanov duchess! The Romanovs were an extremely attractive family--every one of them! The girls pretty and the men...likewise! Imo.
Great job to the creators. That must have been a lot of work. I’d like to remind everyone commenting on how beautiful some of the historical figures are that the portrait artists took liberty to embellish their features or erase things that considered imperfections in their era. It’s a practice that has been in place for a long time and you can see how normalized it was as it continued into Victorian portrait photography. Bernadette Banner made an expose about it. They published a guide book for portrait photographers on what to change and how to do it.
Yes, very true. Even today artists that do portrait commissions are asked/told to improve this or that, remove skin folds etc etc.., So, take it with a grain of salt if working off paintings, photos harder to manipulate back then.
@milashka ни для кого не секрет, что императоры брали в жены иностранок, у Николая 2 супруга была немкой, у Александра 3, вроде бы, датчанкой и так далее можно проследить цепочку и понять, что русской "крови" там действительно практически нет

Grand Duchess Maria must be one of the most beautiful people I have ever seen.
Looking at her pics on google...yep, she was a beauty. Though I believe the software here enhanced it a bit.
her older sister Tatiana was generally considered the family beauty.
@@sifridbassoon Agree. Looking at the old b/w photographs, Tatiana was very pretty. Leaner than Maria. Seemed to be the leader of the pack.
@@boke75I don't agree that the software enhanced her beauty - I think it destroyed it. She was beautiful in the photo, and as it just blossomed into colour, and then they blew her lips up like a sex doll to suit some 21st century notion of attractiveness which made her utterly plastic and utterly unattractive as far as I can see...

Talking about being charming
Thanks for the thumbs up and yeas she is fine.
why were they treated like that? why should the new rulers feel sorry for them? they had none with their population either.

I know aristocrats is always unsatisfied with something, and always would find a reason to hate certain ruler, but turn aganist him even
poor peasants with slave serfdom mentality who trusted him?

Brilliant job
WOW!
I think looking at photos Tatiana is the most beautiful, looking at video footage I think it is especially easy to see.
Not only was their death untimely it was totally unnecessary.

Because the smiles reveal perfect modern-era teeth. Many people didn't smile in photos back then because their teeth were likely terrible.
That's so true. A smile is so powerful it should never be hidden under a mask.😁
Even today artists that do portrait commissions are asked/told to improve this or that, remove skin folds etc etc..,

Maria was gorgeous until the very end. Even in the photos where her head is shaved and she is dressed in rags, she looks like a supermodel.
That's first I've heard that her head was shaved.
All I knew was they were in captivity until family and servants were taken into a room and read execution orders then shot. Girls faces were beaten with rifle butt after death.
All pictures I seen while they were in captivity they all had hair. But very interesting.

Awesome video, thank you so much! I wish you go on giving life to as many historical figures as possible.
Giuseppe Verdi and Nikola Tesla were very handsome! I wish you could bring to life Anton Tchekhov... he looks also handsome in the photos.
Grand Duchess Maria was the most beautiful of the OTMA. Olga was the peacemaker, Tatyana had exceptional fashion taste and Anastasia was the mischievous one. Such a tragic fate. 😥
Tesla had women throwing themselves at him but simped only for science.
The Southern belle and Russian princess were beautiful. Wow. Thank you for sharing this.
It’s like you can communicate with them. The simple fact to see them virtually blink make them so alive and contemporary. This is really a great work. Catherine Howard, the Russian princess and the southern belle looked to youthful and beautiful, it’s sad.
All members of the last Romanov family were incredibly beautiful, they lived in love for each other and for their people. What happened is a terrible tragedy that lives in great pain in our hearts. Now the family of the last Russian emperor is revered as a saint by the Orthodox Church. We pray near this icon of the Great Martyrs.
For their people?? Their starving poverty stricken people??? XD are you serious? Read history man those people didn't give a shit about the millions actively starving. But I guess we should care for the children when they are 'noble' or beautiful.

Europe was the first to solve the problem of hunger, and then the rest of the world. famine was resolved only with the industrialization of the economy. so shut up. especially if you are Turkish. the Turks throughout their history were engaged only in the enslavement and genocide of peoples.

The theme tune for Nikola Tesla is perfect, such an underrated scientist and genius of his kind for the things he invented and even destroyed to stop them falling into the wrong hands!

Where can I find a full version of this theme music?
Does anyone know the music to Southern Belle?

Albert Einstein was once asked: "How does it feel to be the smartest person alive". He answered: "I don't know. Go ask Nikola Tesla".
Wow. Movingly lifelike. The way such personality is conferred is amazing. How anyone could have hurt Maria Romanova and her siblings is completely beyond me. What an incredibly beautiful girl.
she was killed with all her family by Lenin's peoples who build Soviet Union
Appreciate historical figures a jump in time. Peculiar: Verdi looks just like actor Patrick Dempsey... could do a Verdi biopic. 🙂 Thanks MS.
That would be cool!
He put me in mind of U.S. Grant a little but.
Ralph Finnes or Bradley Cooper.
yes, I was trying to think of his name... Patrick Dempsey, spot on!
Hahahah thought the same! Lol so handsome
Maria Romanov was a little stunner WOW! Real danger of losing my heart to an animated portrait.
Grand Duchess Maria was beautiful as the rest of her sisters were. And Nikola Tesla was a handsome man. He was a genius.

I'm in love for Giuseppe Verdi! Soo beautiful! ❤
The Grand Duchess Maria Romanova was certainly a beautiful girl but, the artificial intelligence and the skill of the graphic operator, have enhanced her beauty.
Ok but I wasn't ready for the grand duchess... I've never seen someone so beautiful
Seeing these people come to life touches my soul so deeply because it makes them so tangible. They make me realize that no matter when or where you live(d) - every single one of us has a unique life story and we are all connected. ❤
couldn't have said it any better
Indeed. It's crazy, but for even the old photographs, like the duchess, they seen so far removed, but putting it into perspective, I'm only 35 but my grandma who I knew for years (she passed in 2001) was only 6 years younger than her. Makes me feel like I have connection with the 1900s. lol
the Grand Duchess Romanova......... assuming that the animation reflects half of her actual being, by God she was a beauty
The Grand Duchess Romanov, makes you actually draw breath, so beautiful..
Rest In Peace, Imperial Highness Grand Duchess Maria R.
Extremely interesting. My father is a retired University, English Professor,
who would enjoy seeing this work.
He taught English for 40 years and has studied 6 languages throughout his life. Before he retired, he created a writing center for students who did not know, how to write a research or term paper. He also, helped create the Nursing Department and Theatre Department. Now, that is dedication.
Tesla would be fascinated and into it with this technology, also his animation looks so realistic.
I was not ready for Henry VIII's utterly charming, disarming smile. Who would've thought?
Thank you for doing this! Grand Duchess Maria Romanov was my grand father's second cousin and its incredible to be able to put an actual smiling face to the stories.
What a tragedy :( so bad

hmm...in some cases, like the southern belle, the painting still feels soo awesome. ALmost gives her an ethereal quality. And the shift from paintings to black and white photographs actually looks like a regression even though it was a technological progress. I cannot believe Monalisa isnt here
The Grand Duchess is gorgeous. She has this sad but incredibly beautiful look to her.
Awesome work....thanks❗
By the way I think Maria was the most beautiful daughter from all the Romanov Girls.
They looked all great...but she had something, that makes me breathless!💗
Wow that was truly awesome. The Southern Belle was beautiful. Can you imagine the life they had back then? No tv, radio, internet, computers, cameras! Only to say a few items of the future that they didn't have. Only a painting that someone was willing to do for you was all you had of yourself. Just blows my mind how far we came from back then. Amazing!
Great work as always. It is so depressing that many of these people had such tragic ends, but c’est la vie, unfortunately. Grand Duchess Maria is certainly one of the most beautiful women of all time, in my opinion. However, there are many other striking figures here, and the work you have done makes it even better. Thank you for this! I love watching these videos!
Thank you!
Each and every one looks so beautiful especially the Zar's daughter is a beauty !
Amazing video
Thank you so much 😀
The grand Duchess of Romanov, words fail me! What a beautiful woman. A I brought her to life thank you, Alan Turing such a genius, I m sure there’s hundreds of people would attend his lectures!
I saw a documentary about the Romanovs when I was about 10 and had a huge crush on her then! She was beautiful in the original photos, so this video astonishing
A shame Alan Turing never reached a mature age. He was superhumanly intelligent.
Grand Duchess Maria looked like a Young Goddess from some Mythological Epic. She was perhaps the most beautiful Princess ever existed in Europe.
Ditches Romnova has to be the most beautiful woman who ever lived. Thanks for this fantastic work.
These are wonderful! Not creepy like I have seen some people trying to make paintings come to life. Henry VII and Mary Tudor - them smiling is hard to even fathom knowing what we know of them, and one of Henry's wives, the one you show was a mear child of 16, breaks the heart looking at that. These are amazing!

Tesla had a prominent chin of which he was very conscious and almost all his photographs were ' 3/4 ' views of his face to minimise it. Didn't stop him being a genius however.
What would the world be like if Tesla's plans/patents were implemented? I know, I know!
I'd have to agree with everyone who said it--the grand duchess was breathtakingly gorgeous! But the music that you used for her section was hauntingly beautiful as well! What's the title? I'd like to listen to the whole piece. Thanks!
