These are back in stock including two different full tang versions. If these are ever out of stock on amazon in looks like the supply in back in a week or two. link to check them out amzn.to/36WrOMS
Just ordered a full tang version. Really excited to see how it will do. Thanks for the great info as always.
Benjamin Ng Let me know how they look, are they better than a expensive mora? A mora with wood and leather sheath; like these is $100’s of dollars.
Hello from Ukraine!!! Thanks for the really cool review on our knife. You are one of those bloggers who tell the truth about knives in their videos. We always listen to the opinions of our customers and try to correct all the flaws in our knives. Several changes have already been made to this knife. Soon they will be available on Amazon. We also prepared a rival for Mora Companion - this is our model BS3S, will also soon be available on Amazon. Once againe - cool review! Thanks from all BPS Knives team!
BPSKnives I maybe ordering soon. Hope these are as good as they look? Do you make military knives too?
Could you guys please make some left handed sheaths. I'm quickly becoming a big fan of BPS knifes! Love to see companies that remember us people that are lefties. Best regards!!
I love Mora, victorinox, and Opinel. Now it's time to check out these.
🇬🇧👍. Have just sent an enquiry email to you. Slava!
I just got the Savage and I love it. I won't say it's good "for the price." It's just really, really a good knife. And a tremendous value. And let me tell you how glad I am to support a Ukrainian business. Stay strong, the world is with you. Slava Ukraini!
BPS is a custom knife maker, small company. Etsy's website will show you their home video of the company and where they came from. I own several of these knifes. Have been buying from them for over 4 years on Etsy. The knife you showed I have 4 off for my boat and fishing, can't wear them out. I have many of their full tang products. They are very well made. Not to mention the owner is awesome in customer service, can't say enough good about this company.
I have three bps knives. For the price point, they are hard to beat. To me at least. I picked up their full tang bushcrafter on Amazon a while back for $20 and it's a dead ringer for the condor bushcrafter(which i also have). I use them for work and hunting knives and they hold up pretty well. Being 1060/1065 they strop back really easily. Thanks for the vid. I'm really enjoying living vicariously through your channel!
I love this knife--I have the full-tang model. It is much smaller than most fixed blade knives and, as Gideon says, would make a great first knife for someone with small hands. The knife does well with small cutting jobs and is great for food prep. BPS has a great lineup of knives and there is an added bonus that if you buy one of their knives you can show a little love to our friends in Ukraine.
Dude! You are the BEST knife reviewer of all time. Taking these knives through the paces and going into full detail about all aspects of the knives so we can have a better understanding to make our own decisions. Thank for everything my Bladed Brother ⚔️ ✝️
I got one of these knives. They are the best value bushcraft knife I've found. And mine wasn't sharp. It was RAZOR sharp! The entire length of the blade, And not just on one side. I can feel the epidermis on my fingertips missing in the spots where I was testing the sharpness. These Ukrianians know how to make the greatest value knives. I've got packets of knife oil to keep this clean but it came pre-oile!d. And it comes with a decent leather knife sheath. The best value for $30.00. I'm going to give these to family for presents! Mine is the H1KS full tang model.
thanks for the real knife review. there are far too many people talking about knives and not using them in videos.
Glad to hear that you are having fun whittling. Thanks for the video.
Perfect first fixed blade for my sons.
Nice sheath too. If they break it, I will buy them another at $5 and they can reuse the sheath.
Thanks Aaron!
the $5 version is no where to be found anymore I don't think.
The polymer of the Mora probably does better with the shock of batoning than the wood does. Of course it could be the steel and/or the heat treat. I have both this model and their full tang one. $20 with sheath for the full tang. Great option if you like the traditional look of wood and leather. Throw some linseed oil on that handle. Done and done. Suspect they are going to sell a TON of these. Good on them for answering this market.
I have 2 BPS knifes for one year now, bought in Etsy. Can't do anything wrong with these.
Greetings from Austria, Michael
Looks good.Shurely worth a try.
Makes a good neck knive either.
Dont need more knifes but its a nice gift for beginners.
Thanks for introduction!
Actually bought 8 of these 2 weeks ago for $5 each and use them as steak knives. Way better than any steak knives I've ever used from normal knife sets
RMassey86 great idea! 😃👍
That was an awesome idea 👍⚔️
You are brilliant. 👍
Brilliant! Just don’t put them in the dishwasher.
That, Sir, is a great idea.
Four of em...you got a cabin steak knife set!
My two grandboys will unbox'em...in about 10 yrs...thanks.
I stained mine a cognak color and gifted it to Nickolas Green Outdoors :)
I don't need another knife of this type; but I did thoroughly enjoy your testing and analysis of the knife. Well done.
I personally don’t believe in the Battalion unless it’s an emergency but I do carry a knife that could handle that task. But I am going to buy one of these to Carrie around my smoker as I’m grilling. Always a great review very detailed thanks brother. 😎
Very impressive knife. Most likely will make it to my Amazon cart. Thanks for another great review
Really interesting knife. Thank you for this video. I’d try one.
I bought one a couple years ago and it’s been a better one than some costing 3 x $. A great size for cleaning animals I’ve killed. It’s not a true bush knife as it’s too small for much heavy duty use. Holds an edge very well. I reshaped the handle and carry it on my belt everyday like I carry a pistol everyday everywhere.
I ha e the smallest full tang one and it has split sycamore limbs to make spoons out of and other Sloyd type tasks. It holds a decent edge for about 1 hour and then after about 4 strokes each side on a strop brings it back super sharp again.
Stating that, I’m a woodcarver in the traditional sense as well, so I can tell you it has a much lower abrasion resistance than O1 or 1095. Which are typical steels used in purpose built carving tools.
Due to that, it becomes sharp nearly instantly again for the next hour. So it is actually a very good option for those who are not fully proficient in sharpening.
The handle doesn’t give any hot spots. I wear an XXL glove for reference. I give it a thumbs up. For what it costs, I just had to test it out, and was shockingly pleased.
Very cool, love the BPS knives.
Yep, bought 1 just too see what it was about and has become my tackle box knife/back up
Best choice is to buy the full tang version. Great video.
I actually order the full tang and this one before I saw this video but I'm totally happy with it given how cheap it is plus the with the leather sheath should be pretty awesome. One for my kid and one for me
I bought two full tang knives I like the look it’s a good knife for basic outdoor tasks
You can't beat that price,at all, thanks for sharing this with me...
Definitely would want the full tang.
Thanks so much for sharing and blessings to you and your family 😇
Buy it, beat it, break it and repeat. For 5 bucks it's pretty good. I own several Mora knives and love them. I don't think anyone who likes Mora, will be disappointed with this knife.
Destroy to enjoy.
Looks like a great knife. Thanks for sharing. Take care.
I like it , I have tons of Mora's but this is another good option
I have 3 BPS knives and honestly they have replaced my mora and buck knives from the most part have had them about 2 3 yrs now. footnote mine are all full tang
I've been waiting for a video on this knife!!!
Definitely going to check them out. Thanks for the info. Keep up the good work. Actually thought I was subscribed until I watched this one. Made sure I was subscribed now.
Thank you and welcome to the family.
I'll likely pick one up just to have. Nice review! BPS should send you a nice gift basket because I'm sure you sold a gross of these with this video.
I still have my Buck 120 from the 70s. I have never found anything better at any price point Buck knifes perfection in steel.
Grt review. Another option I was not aware of. Thx
Just bought the full tang companion on Etsy with a leather sheath. Should be good. I may blue it right off the bat.
When did you get your knife used in the video? I got one with the sheath before Christmas off Amazon. Mine came with a thin piece of silver metal covering the hole where the blade enters the handle. It also came with a very nice sheath that has a welt in it. Some people’s sheaths don’t have a welt and knives lack a bolster. Maybe they are improving the quality. The blade turned on mine whittling some seasoned pecan but I think that is just because of the Scandi grind. I put a micro bevel on it and it seems to hold up better now. Just have some doubts about the blade material quality on mine.
This looks like a great knife for fishing.
Food for thought, people love options.
just saw them on ebay. looks cool for sure! hes got one that looks exactly like a Mora companion
They have the adventurer version with a 5" blade & Ferro rod combo now for $40.
Another one to check out is Beaver Craft I stumbled across them on Amazon 🇨🇦 when I was looking for some green Compound, they have carving knives, carving sets, strops. Thanks buddy
Eric Rosbottom that is the carving set I recently bought. So far very happy with the carving set
Awesome video as always brother. That's why I let you beat the crap out of the knives so I don't have to LOL that being said I don't even get on with my Mora I have other knives or an axe for that. Asked you treating it as a pocket knife I carry a cold steel 4 Max so yeah that's out of the question LOL take care of keep up the great work eh.
The Amazon description for this specific knife model says they have ash handles treated only with oil. Other knives from BPS use different materials. I would be very interested in seeing more reviews of knives from this maker.
I was batonning a wet frozen piece of wood. I wonder why it broke? Was it the heat treat?
After watching your review I got online and bought one of these knives. I use finished my first use of it (cutting fish) and I have to tell you, I'm impressed! This is a great little knife. Can't get sparks from it but the spine is not very sharp. Thanks for bringing this little gem to light!
Exceptional review and we certainly appreciate your candor. To my brothers and sisters in Ukraine - Надзвичайно чудовий ніж і дай Боже вам щастя і здоров’я в новому році!
Keep up the great videos!
Sounds like choosing the full tang version is a no brainer. Would love to see a review of one of their full tang knives.
I got the fulltang, basically a copy of the mora companion.
I can clearly recommend it.
I would say its better than a mora.
That knife is how mora should have done their fulltang model.
@@MSLBushcraftSurvival ,
Thanks for the input. I'd never heard of these.
Ever considered reviewing the Condor Fidelis? 1075 carbon neck knife with kydex sheath for only $20 on amazon.
Are their spaces on either side of the blade on knife #2 where it enters the handle? If this is true an important part of the blade is unsupported by the handle and calls for some epoxy to go into those spaces.
Those which are still available for sell are having the higher price than a general mora now. So it definitly no go from this point.
I'm bored. I want a Mora Companion HD with a full tang. I really like the new BPS full-tang 3.8" BPS BSTF3S and need a review but I like this one, too. Also, are the scales threadlocked and/or can they be removed? Can a patina be put on this, and how well does the steel hold up? The "Bushlore" version looks nice, too.
Do you know if the is available in Canada anywhere?
I baton but never with a knife that small, I would use that for creating feather sticks, processing fish etc., things I cannot do effectively with my big old knife. For $5, $15 with sheath that is a steal. For their full tang , I will gladly pay $22. Love classic look as long as wood or bone handle has a palm swell or curve so I do not get a hot spot on the hand, and this is a nice looking little knife.
Holy crap the sheath is great for a Mora black or Garberg ....how are they making these so cheap?? Even if I order this stuff to make my own I can't for that low I've made knives like this and its about $25-$30 for the leather and blade .
I have the real fulltang version, which is basically a copy of a mora companion.
And I am not disappointed, for the price (28$ with leather sheath) its better than a mora.
Not sure about the hardness but I would say it holds an edge like a carbon mora.
After about two weeks of carving.
That knife is how mora should have done their fulltang model...!!
Did you try the Mora's in the sheath?
Links do not go directly to knives. Not right now anyway. Bummer, looks great!
I bought one two weeks ago and filled the holes with epoxy. Then acid etched the blade. It's been a great knife so far.
Why not? I've destroyed much nicer/more expensive knives and tools before. Thanks, Aaron, and happy New Year.
I really feel like the Kabar Mark 1 is due for a revisit
it is ashwood. fulltang knifes got wallnut. hrc is 59
Fantastic vid!
Just don't batton with it because the vibration will crack the handle this is the only downside to partial tang
might make a decent little tackle box knife
Nice, thanks!
Theres a complete full Tang knife that bps makes I have one for the same price same sheath
Looks a heck of a lot like a beavercraft knife. Beavercraft is another Ukraine company making super affordable spoon carving knives. I wonder if they’re the same manufacturer just rebranded
Some choose a knife like this as a backup - throw into the pack and if you lose your main knife you at least have a cutting tool. I don't understand this, because if you lose your main knife, this becomes your main knife. I personally don't want a less than full tang knife. As for Mora's, the Garberg is the only one I would use. This knife is so thin, less than 1/8", that I wouldn't trust itfor anything but cutting bread.
Cool! Even if the knife wasn't good, it looks like you could use the sheath for a Mora Classic... Thanks for the review! P.S. I could only find the sheath on Amazon, bit I may order that for my Classic #2.
In the Woods with Bigfoot Yeah looks like they sold out already, hopefully I’ll have more soon.
Nice knives, got my 1st one today, full tang, thicker sheath, going to order a 2nd one, different style. I feel very sorry for Ukraine.
I've broken more robust knives battoning, I'll stick to hatchets & tomahawks for splitting wood.
Looks nice. Looks like a Mora but like the classic look and the leather sheath. One more thing I've been thinking about for a long time but it's not knife or outdoor related. It's that your name is the same as my son, my son's name is Aaron with the double "a" just a fun fact 😁
DG Outdoor Life tell him I’m giving him a shout out! One of the best names around.
@@gideonstactical Will do man thanks. And also I really enjoy your gear video review so keep them coming.
I can't find those anywhere on Amazon. They just have the sheaths..
He sells on Ebay also. That's where I bought 2 of his knives from. If you have any questions for him he answer backs phenomenally fast. Really nice guy and knife come pretty quick. I live in Hawaii and I believe I received each of my 2 knives in about a weeks time.
Waiting for knives made out of Ruzzian scrapped tanks.
5cr14mov steel .. I think I'll stick to Morakniv knives
No reason it should have failed. I batoned a $5 BudK slipjoint with no failure (yes I have a video of it) so there's no excuse for this fixed blade to fail
Wow for that price coupled with an axe or have duty knife/chopper would be awesome. Especially with the fact some could customise the handle. Cracking deal 👍
It is almost worth it just for the sheath
Saving up to order some 2 support Ukraine knife folk's !! TY 4 review
ok found company on ebay. different outdoor and hunting knives. 20 - 40 €.
Partial tang?? I would be out, right there. The sheath is nice tho. All around if you wanna be a little different I could see someone getting this knife. The price isn't competitive enough for the mora companion at $18.00 which has all the above plus a full tang and micarda sheathe tho. Ergonomic wood (infield replaceable) handle is the only thing this knife has going for it. Thanks for testing it for us!!
Trail Trash Outdoors Did you watch till the end? They do have a full tangled with handle scales version as well.
Just rewached the last part and the upgradable version is $20 which changes the whole game. Thanks for the info tho I was commenting at the time it was said first round so I see why I missed it. Was a great video
The only link that works is the Amazon one. The others don't have it even if you search for it.
Knife alone for $5 isn't on Amazon anymore sadly. Good video!
Brian Kim-Eng as I said in the video it might come back in a few weeks.
I want one
I’m clearly too late to the party. Don’t see anything but the sheath on Amazon now. Really would like to try one of these knives. Thanks for another great video!
Seems to be a good knife but it's a knife not a hatchet .I would buy it.
I’m wondering who would want to pay five dollars for the knife and then much more for Kydex?
I can't even find it on Amazon. Maybe your bought them all as they broke,, lol
bigfoot head peeking around the tree at you during your intro. on your left at head level in the pine tree. be careful out there.
in this price range i
will stick with my mora's,thanks Aaron
Your missing out, I have several mora knives and These easily beaT them.. better edge retention and better materials
can't find just the knife for $5
Arron, just opinion, heat treat was probably good. You need 1/8 inch steel to baton with at minimum. Also frozen wood makes it like batoning a brick.
I know this is old as hell, but why would anyone baton with a rat tail tang unless in a dire emergency? We all know this style of knife is not designed, built or made for heavy duty use. They're meant for carving spoons that give you splinters, tent stakes and owls. You can't knock a knife for failing at something it was never designed to do. It would be like knocking a Camry because it's a terrible monster truck.
Great channel, checkout grandway fixed blades on amazon, mine performs just as well as my cold steels, and theyre fairly cheap
