below the comamds used in this videos just copy and paste:
1.# sudo gvm-stop
2.# sudo runuser -u _gvm -- greenbone-nvt-sync --rsync
2.1#NOTE: The _gvm is the gmv's user name, so you need to replace it with your user name you created
3.# sudo greenbone-scapdata-sync
4.# sudo greenbone-certdata-sync
5.# sudo reboot
6.# After reboot, open GSA from the browser and go to Feed Status, if it shows update in progress, you need to wait until the process is finished and after that the problem will be solved.
I was two days trying to solve this problem and with this vídeo I did it. Thanks.
when i do the command " sudo runuser -u _gvm -- greenbone-nvt-sync --rsync" i get an "usage: greenbone-nvt-sync" followed by multiple options and after i get "greenbone-nvt-sync: error: --rsync-timeout: expect one argument"
It's ok for me ! thanx's for this video !
Thanks! i can fix this problem in my VM.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Realice los pasos que se ven en el video, y tal como figura en la descripción, espere a que termine de actualizar y ahora funciona. Gracias
Buenísimo, gracias!
lo conseguistes antonio? a mi no me sale... me puedes hechar un cable?
Hey man i did what u said but when i do "sudo gvm-feed-update" it stays stuck at "updating vulnerability tests info into redis store from vt files" for a very very long time. Do I just need to wait for it to finish or is there something wrong?
Hi @wowstefaniv you need to wait because that process takes long time as I said in the description of the video.
Yes, you need to wait. It takes time
I did whole procedure, but I still have "The SCAP database is required". What else I can do? And what does it mean comment below "sudo runuser -- greenbone-nvt-sync --rsync"? This command dont work without "-u _gvm" parameter..
Please read the description of the video, I said that after the procedure if you go to Feed Status and see Update in progress, you need to wait untit it ends and it takes long time yo finish. Note: I have been supporting many people on this issue, you need to wait until the update in progress desapears
@@openvas3238 Thank you for quick replay. Of course you were right. Mayby it will be good idea to add to the description below the video, info that "SCAP database is required" will be displayed until update progrss is finished. Anyway - thanks mate!
Hey I did what it said but still it’s not working. When I check the log it says No SCAP database found and rebuilding Scap from scratch then few updates then again scap db not found same loop repeats for 20+ hours
Hey, go to Feed Status and chack what it's staying, if you see, Update in progress, no way out you need to wait until it's done.
i love u
I run sudo runuser -u _gvm -- greenbone-nvt-sync --rsync
but the parameter --rsync is not recognized. Actually the error message says the argument should be --rsync-timeout and one extra argument is expected...
Try to check if is there any another error by running the command: sudo gvm-check-setup
@@openvas3238
Thanks, your video helped a lot!!!
`sudo gvm-check-setup` revealed the CERT-related issue, which was resolved with proposed command.
2.# sudo runuser -u _gvm -- greenbone-nvt-sync --rsync
Thank you dear for your correction
Hello
I followed the steps to the letter
the # gvm-check-setup command
gives the following result: It seems like your GVM-21.4.3 installation is OK
when I come back to greenbone's feed status, NVT, SCAP, CERT and GVMD_DATA status is still "update in progress ..."
the "THE SCAP DATA IS REQUIRED" notification has disappeared in SecInfo but when I choose NTVs, I see '' No NVTs available ''
how can you help me?
Hi @Ourega, after follow the steps you need to wait until the feed status update in progress is finished, and that process will take long time to finish. I have supported someone that had to wait more than 15 hours and after the update progress finished , all SecInfo informations (CVE, NVT, CPE, etc) was there. Please be patient.
@@openvas3238 Buenas noches... actualmente tengo el mismo problema... mi duda es¿¿ que al esperar que se actualice puedo salir del interfaz de openvas ??

Try it again, if it does not stop, consider to restart your VM
hmmm thanks for your video. But didn't work even after reboot. I will keep going.
Read the description of the video closely and you'll solve the issue. Note: You need to follow the instructions on the description don't be focus only on the commands,
Thanks for nice and need of the essential tool.
Seems Green Community made it delieberately hard for the community users. It is almost a week I put up all my energies to resolve thess feeds "update in progress" issue and finally I am here. Still no luck.
Following is the status after running
sudo runuser -u _gvm -- greenbone-nvt-sync --rsync
"greenbone-nvt-sync: error: argument --rsync-timeout: expected one argument"
and if I omit -u _gvm then; i.e.
sudo runuser -- greenbone-nvt-sync --rsync
"runuser: user greenbone-nvt-sync does not exist or the user entry does not contain all the required fields"
So, still issue persists.
Hello, we need to determine the issue, as I said in the description of the video, after you run the commands, you need to wait until the update in progress desapears qnd it takes long time. Another think is to run the command: #sudo gvm-check-setup. To see if is there any error message and if yes, you will see the solution to correct the issue. Let me know
@@thetutorialtribe I am waiting this for days n days. And there is no clue whether is there any progress.
One forum says it is due to low volume/space.
But solution here suggest wait indefinitely without knowing the progress rate.
@@thetutorialtribe NO errot messgae after I run gvm-check-setup
@@kqabro You may consider to run the script again: # sudo gvm-setup and after that run the gvm-check-setup again and if there is no error, try to check the feed status again. Note that the video above is the only way I now to solve this issue and many people who come on my channel, I give the same solution, you need to wait until the message disappears. You can try to go to Greenbone forum and check other solutions for this error. Good luck
how to slove this issue "md gmp: INFO:2023-02-09 10h23.58 UTC:4890: Failed to parse client XML: Command Unavailable" thank in advance

@@openvas3238 With all due respect i watch the video entirely and i followed each step wating till the updating was complete when everything show current and I'm still facing the same issue. I cannot seem to figure it out
@@floydian4evr no problem at all.
Try these steps:
1. on terminal, run the command: sudo gvm-check-setup and check if is there any error message reported and if yes, normally you'll see the solution suggested by the GVM
2. Go to the log and try to find out any reported error:
a.# sudo nano /var/log/gvm/openvas.log
b.# sudo nano /var/log/gvm/gsad.log
c.# sudo nano /var/log/gvm/gvmd.log
d.# sudo nano /var/log/gvm/ospd-openvas.log
3. If you don't see any reported error on the logs, I suggest you to upgrade your OS using these commands:
a.# sudo apt update
b.# sudo apt full-upgrade-y
Note: Please let me know the result after you follow the steps above
Best

I'm tried and wait many times but update in process could not stop 😢
As mentioned on the description of the video, it takes long time, so far that is the only solution I know.
The method did not work
can you help me?
Hi Maryam, yes for sure.
1. Before you run the commands, make sure you're not using NAT configuration, prefer to use Bridged Adapter if you're using Hypervisor.
2. After rebooting, Kali open your terminal and update the feeds with this commmand: sudo gvm-feed-update and make sure you go to Feed Status in GSA and wait until the update finishes.
3. Check the setup to ensure the installation is ok: sudo gvm-check-setup
4. Try to open SecInfo and NVTs for e.g. to see if the problem is gone or not
Cheers

This worked for me. After days of searching on the web. Guys, after you follow the steps here, the key point to note is to have patience. You can always check the log via log /var/log/gvm/gvmd.log to get the update. Once it's done, you'll be good to go.

Didn't solve still Feed Status updating...
If you read the the description you'll see that i mantioned that the process take take a while and you need to wait until the update finishes. Status updating is clear english it means that the update is being applied, you need to wai, you're are not the first person with this problem.
