If you haven't seen IMG Academy, you gotta take a trip. They have their athletes getting RIGHT with maybe the best high school football digs in the nation. While we were down in Florida, the stars of the football team took us around their UNREAL campus.

It depends on the college. Oregon, Texas A&M, and Alabama have state-of-the-art facilities that blow IMG's away. Miami, Washington State, Cal, etc. would be downgrades from IMG, though.

It is a factory for kids and nothing more. Not a "high school". All those kids and they have ONE academic building and the rest of the campus is all sports shit? And they recruit nationally? That is not a high school. They will push and push and push to perform, but if a kid gets injured, you think he can still go to "school" there? Nope
Yes these kids are very rich and blessed but the thing is they work harder than anyone else. They are always on the grind and working their hardest to be the best and make their family proud. You can do the same thing but it’s all in your mindset.

I actually go to IMG and I got this in my recommendation. (😂) my sport is tennis. And yes I’m a kid I’m in 6th grade (lowest grade in IMG currently 2019-2020)

Anyone talking about how much it costs a year, yes it's super expensive. The athletes on the football team and other sports teams are either on partial or full scholarship. There may be a few that aren't, but the majority are especially the ones getting D1 and power 5 offers. It's not just IMG either there are academies all over the country that are like this although IMG probably does have the best facilities.
Power 5 programs that have high profile recruits silently committed or highly likely to commit to them, but aren't academically eligible or grades are poor get the recruit help through their network of connections to get a partial or full scholarship. Either from IMG or other academies throughout the country to improve their grades.
This doesn't cost the school recruiting the player any money and it is done in the hopes of landing a top recruit. Even more so than the benefit the recruit receives from better coaching in a more complex system, higher level of competition and strength and conditioning program. The recruit can be the next Deshaun Watson, but if his grades aren't good then he's not going to get into the majority if not all of the power five programs.
Finally and most importantly I am NOT saying or insinuating that these power five programs are paying the tuition, room and board or doing anything not on the up and up etc. and violating NCAA bylaws i.e. cheating. Nor am I iterating that they are in some shady deal with the schools involved and it's only happening with a handful of schools. It's just a way to get prized recruits academically eligible. It's done at all programs as a way to get the recruits they need and want eligible to be added to their roster. Secondary benefits I mentioned before are of course benefits as well and most recruits end up stronger, faster and more prepared for a D1 strength and conditioning program.
But you're suggesting IMG is a diploma mill instead. As someone who personally knows some of the teachers there (and likely knows more about the school than you do), I consider it an insult to the professionals working with those athletes. Consider clarifying your original post or deleting it.
Ammended, yes. But improving academic eligibility still implies teachers pad or inflate grades. Still an insult to them. If you're going to imply it, come right out and say it.
Edited (again) but still implying you go to IMG to improve grades as if teachers simply pass kids so they boost their grades. I think you need to look up an interview I read in The Athletic (subscription required) where IMG athletes talked about how teachers did not let them off the academic hook just because they're football; that there are plenty of athletes in other sports equally excellent, so being 4 or 5 star doesn't mean as much. You haven't given much to back up your opinion. I suggest you delete your original comment.

WHat I wonder is this.. having looked at their website, it clearly states that they do not offer scholarships and that financial aid is available only on a limited basis. This school costs $84500 to attend... per YEAR!! Assuming that a fair percentage of these kids come from the inner city, where does that money come from? Who's paying?
