I decided to make a homemade underwater camera rig for when im making magnet fishing videos and hopefully you will enjoy the underwater magnet fishing footage.
Todsy i was magnet fishing in saddleworth and this area is gorgeous, i normally come here to fish for trout but today its to do some magnet fishing.
Im going to magnet fish the waterfalls that are all around this village and work my way through saddleworth and uppermill.

@@willyblanco9368 i will be testing out my electro magnet next weekend, i wont be able to take it to a canal as i cant lift heavy items but i will be testing the power to see who much voltage i can put through it and what it can lift

My first ever magnet arrives this week! 150kg pull. I’m 14 years old so should be good to start with. Been watching these for ages and you have really inspired me. Thanks so much and can’t wait to start getting out there and doing it myself!

Was born and raised in uppermill, it was really odd seeing all the places were we would be up to mischief as kids on UA-cam, it's was a completely different place when I was kid, dropped a mini moto in the canal in Diggle while trying to cross the gate when I was 12 and I still want it back 😂

Noticed in the video just before finding the 8mm BB Gun there was a sword you skipped past ?

@@drasticg 12:45 is what i believe he is on about, you can see what looks like a hilt, However it lacks a hand guard so either its very old sword or is most likely a dagger but worth revisiting to get.

Depending on what GoPro you have you can connect it to your phone to see in real time. Could make it easier to find thjngs

I was thinking that, you could add a phone or tablet mount to the top half of the pole with sun shade to enhance daylight viewing. I have seen wildlife videographers using similar contraptions.
i was thinking the same maybe Bluetooth compatible, i was sure i saw a dagger handle next to that gun
Yes my go pro sends live picture to my phone. Really nice idea light and camera..
U can buy an otg cable with endoscope with 6 leds for £4 off gaybay to contact usb mini for real time filming that records on your phone. I set 1 up .

There was a cool moment when you left the above water sound running as you were playing the underwater piece by the waterfall. Intentional or otherwise it was a subtle capture of your surroundings. It felt like real time.

Last weekend i was fishing (normal fishing) then i run out of worms so as i was digging for worms i see a dirty coin what looked like the new pound coins so i took it to the lake washed it off and i see 3 pence so i am like ok and i turn it over and it was from 1937 i was well chuffed

what your doing takes all the fun out of it the fun is now knowing what you find till you pull it up
This wont be used most of the time due to the pooor visability but will be a nice changed in the video to occasionally see whats doen there before i pull it out

I sympathize with you on the knee surgery. Lyme disease destroyed both of my knees some years ago and I've had both totally replaced. I'm pretty young for that sort of surgery, too. The knee is the most painful joint in the body.
Its a nightmare as the smallest gradient hurts my knee even more, iv ehad my ACL replaced

Impressive bit of ingenuity you're using there. I like that gopro on a stick! You seemed a bit shocked at the temperature of the water when you went in, I'm thinking waders would help with that. Plus a self inflating life jacket another commenter mentioned. Overall, fascinating videos your'e uploading for us. Keep 'em coming please, you're better than what's on tele!

We live within walking distance of Erie Canal and Tuscarawas River you inspire me to try magnet fishing.

I have ised a few depending on your budget but i now use a homemade one but amazon sell some good ones, i have links to the ones i use in the vjdeo description
Id like to see the internal parts of that pistol to compare them with actual parts in my real Glock pistols.
Since that gun was made in Italy, its probably a well made replica.

A blank pistol?
No.
Firstly, the barrel is 8mm, and cannot accept a real ammunition.
Secondly, the frame, slide and other parts could never handle the very high pressures that real bullets release at.
And thirdly, the firing mechanism is completely different than a real pistol.
No blank fires have there barrel blocked

Awesome idea! I wonder if a FPV camera from a [broken] drone could be mounted near the magnet, like the gopro, so that you could see in real time on your cell phone or FPV googles what the magnet was near under the water? Great video!

An idea you may try. On ebay you can buy cams for checking drain/sewer lines. Has a small round cam on the end of a flexible line. They connect with your cam by wire or wifi. This way you could be looking at your phone and see in real-time.

I see something but not sure what it is
I took a screenshot and looked closely it seemed to be either the handle bars and stem off a small bike or a piece of plumming in the shape of a T. It seems to have a black what looks like rubber fitting on the stem attached to the main tube.
That would be good to watch you restore that one I like your other channel 2 it is cool

Hi ! Good to see you back out magnetfishing again. That "camera stick" is a good idea - but lacks a direct view. You might switch to some sort of endoscopic monitor ... In that case you can see what's going on in front of the cam in real time. There was something interesting left / up at 12:46 just after your camera recorded the BB gun. A knife ? Another scooter ? Who knows ... :-)
Oh yes i re watched it and it looks like another scooter mate and id love a direct view but i guess a moniter would be expensive

About to rollerblade into town with my gear and got distracted by your upload. The lake hasn't been dredged in 80 years but it's got knee deep sediment. Is a bigger heavier magnet better or is there no hope in getting thought that much sediment for something really old.
Id use a magnet on a pole as the others probably wont penertrate that deep

Lourdes is a place in France ( a very tacky place it must be said ) where people with all kinds of nasty ailments go on a " pilgrimage " to in the hope that they will be healed.
It's mostly a Roman Catholic thing really but
when I say tacky, it really is: plastic Jesus and musical crosses etc.
