There's literally nothing wrong with the old one
Exactly😭
Not with the sport design (like the gts). But without it, I still don’t like it, although still better than this
but the whole idea of a new generation is to change the way it looks, so they had to do just that
@@josephius It's not a new generation tho.
@geminithekid not sure the relevance of your comment, manufacturers don’t make new models because there is something wrong with the old ones
You absolutely correct. The led screen is cheap ass for a 911. Fuck that.
And cheap plastic start button, not even aluminium... Same my old bmw has... in 2013...
I think they are intentionally making the car undesirable in a few aspects so people will think the later models are better. Maybe the turbo model will have a nicer interior so people aren’t even meant to buy this car, it exists to sell more 99
911 turbos.
Whooooooo cares
That goofy a3 screen is an unbelieveable downgrade, i guess they didn't like being so far ahead of the competition.
It’s more useful 🤷♂️
Cost cutting in the interior
Cost cutting on a car this expensive is crazy especially with how small the things they cut were 💀
@@BlasterJunos you could be right no doubts. Do you agree that at least the changes look cheaper? :)
@@BlasterJunos porsche does a lot of cost cutting with plastic for example
@srfrover But last gen you could at least pay to option leather or other trim instead of plastic and it still kept the same design. Full screen dash and push to start button especially with no other options is crazy and makes the car look cheaper unlike what the price suggests. 992.1 is still my favorite interior since it blends digital and analogue almost perfectly
@@BlasterJunos992.1 has the most boring looking interior of all time
Man...911 gauge cluster is wide and enough to fit all those kinds of gimmicky "features" They don't need to sacrifice the analog tachometer, now it feels like the gauge cluster is something that exists in mass-produced SUVs, try to go as big and as wide as possible, what a shame...
Exactly
It's actually quite narrow. Once you're behind the wheel you literally can only see the middle portion of the screen
I prefer practicality. I want to a huge map on there, not a gauge cluster. Nobody is racing all the time to put a tachometer there permanently.
@@samon_kurowassan A shame they don't option it so people can choose. I like the classic analogue, but see your point
@@samon_kurowassani almost never use GPS, but if i do....my phone is good enough, i dont need a screen in my car. I am 29 and my car is 27, low tech and that is how i like it
You said it best. "Feels cheaper".
However, prices have increased. What a flop.
Sales will tell if it's a flop or not. But im following some real buyers and their opinion is favorable right now.
A 911 flop ? Can’t happen. The only one that wasn’t well received was the 996 gen and it wasn’t a flop.
it's called inflation.
Not really sure that's how it works 🤣
Boomers with money dgaf. As long as it's decent looking (which the '25 911 is) they will more than likely always opt for the brand new 911 over the used, contrary to an enthusiast like you or me.
And who cares, it's their money.
you look handsome without your hat
Reverse hatfishing
A little bit bald
thank you
Didn't notice, until I read your comment down here.
Lmao
Only upgrade to me is the rear bumper. Much better than in the old one. Interior changes are just cost cutting by sharing parts with other porsche models.
You don't think the 3.6L engine is an upgrade?
So... It's got an uglier rear end, weird new headlights, a super cheap looking start engine and lights "switch" button and a fully digital instrument cluster but it's 15k more expensive because of some hybridization no one even wanted...?
It's insane
If it ain’t broke…
It’s crazy … every time with every new cars, always the same comment. And then a few months later after seeing the car in real life, the opinion will change
There is only 2 downgrade things. The start button and no analog rev counter anymore. Everything else is better. (Better front and rear bumper) (I put that in () because it’s subjective), new headlight design and technology with independant LED (one of the best headlight technology on the market today), better chassis and suspension tuning, BIGGER ENGINE (that’s what everyone want when all brands are doing downsizing) + monoturbo instead of biturbo so a better sound because less muffled. crazy race car derived hybrid system which weigh only 50kg which is better than everyone else and don’t interfere with the driving experience, it’s even add sensation because it’s like a F1 KERS system and not a plug-in hybrid for emissions, New e-turbo technology with new innovation that even F1 don’t have at the moment, no turbolag anymore, performance increased by a lot ( less than 3s 0-62 and 9 seconds quicker around the nurb, it’s faster than an M4 CSL which is a 992 GT3 rival normally)
And even with all that evidence, you are capable of saying you don’t’ understand how the car can be more expensive, it’s pretty crazy honestly
@@CLSTRN911 Another downgrade besides the design is the apparent lack of a manual transmission (which will hopefully come with the Carrera S and T models)
Which lights switch button are you talking about bro??
I'm sure the 992.2 will be a great car, but I'm happy with my 992.1. The analog tach and the faux-key ignition really adds to the feeling that the 911 is the special model of the brand. Now, it shares the same boring button and fully digital display as the Cayenne, Taycan and Panamera.
Lets wait to the Turbo/Turbo S version
The 992 looks too muscular and robotic, the facelift made it worse
Damn those muscular robots
Facts
It feels more dumber and more agressive, the old one was elegant and intelligent while at the same time having a sort of hidden force.
Bullsh..t "opinion" dude! Keep it for yourself.
To each their own. I think the 992.1 was the worst designed 911 in a while (still looks decent). The 992.1 std had a huge rectangle that always looked awkward. It wasn't until the 992 turbo and gt3 that the front end looked correct. The 992.1 gts sport design bumper was ripped straight off the 991.1 carrera. I love the 992.2 look front and back. The new wheel designs are amazing. They should bring back the analog tach however.
A car built for gov't regulations and not the driver.
Well they are a business
@@dauntless137 yes, however, porsche`s business is passion: in that sense, the 992.2 is not a good move.
@@donkeyshot8472 It sounds like I am the only person that thinks that the 2025 911 GTS is better than 991.1 version. This is such awesome news for me!
You don’t know what your talking about
@@anthonywunderlich3681 yep, yours for a song, then. ;-)
Actually those 2 exhaust pipes are towards more classic Porsches like 70's where two pipes were next to each other in the middle of car, but this is just the GTS the classic carrera base version looks +- the same, no agressive front bumber or anything, u might like that one.
Nobody would ever thing that an Apple Watch, as convenient as it can be, is more luxurious or beautiful than a Rolex or a Patek Philippe. Why do car manufacturers believe that a digital screen is better than analog devices ?
its honnestly cheaper to make then to handcraft it, and then if it breaks $$$
when it breaks**
@@michelhickey5765 indeed, it’s cheaper, but we are talking about a 911 here. I am petty sure that buyers wouldn’t bother paying few extra bucks on top of the 150.000 they already spent.
Like saying an iphone is worse than a nokia, it's purely subjective.
Man I hope Porsche goes back to being a Porsche for next coming models. Hopefully they take criticism for this model and revert back to analog dials and less sharp designs. I think 992.1 was their most refined version yet.
the 992.2 is the first step to the all-electric 911: just my two cents here.
Personal opinions tend to change over time. Looked at the new hybrid GTS and am calling it a supercharged turbo. Zero turbo lag and only a little more power unless you don't factor in the electric boost. Lower center of gravity with engine more than 4 inches lower than before. Smashes the Nurburg rin time by 8 seconds This will be an epic car.
Unfortunately for only one round and the thenbattery is empty, ridiculous
99% agree with your assessment. The 992.2 is a miss on many levels, not desirable.
Awful take bro
Ever since brands began adopting the touchscreen trend, car interiors have started to feel less luxurious. Currently, only Aston Martin and Bentley offer premium interior features.
Which of the two brands can you afford their cars?
The 2025 refresh looks unnecessarily busy in the front and rear end. The additional lines and verticality is a visual downgrade.
Still a great car, although I will say both the 991 and 992.1 looked better than this 2025 refresh.
I agree with all your comments. TO have a push button WITHOUT the key on a 911 just seems sac religious. Also, the taycan digital display mutes the look so much. The mixed digital with the tac center was one of the BEST interior designs. When these dealers get to these new allocations and market adjustments, these cars will start at 200k. They'll be priced to the MOON. 166 base price for a GTS?? A highly specced 991 GTS was in the LOW 130s, and here the new one starts 30k higher and we aren't even 10 years later.
3 decades of 911 ownership from club racing to concourse so l am a core Porsche demographic of customer.
Not interested in a hybrid 911 and it's obvious it is done per government regulations and NOT making the car more performance enhancing. There will be a nightmare of technical problems if one electric engine has any issues. BMW is seeing this with the electric "helper engine" in the ZF transmission. One problem and the entire vehicle is bricked and needs flatbed to the dealership. Obviously the last great modern 911 in style, build quality and performance is the
991.2. Each generation seems to get watered down by outside influences from Porsche that intrudes on design and even build quality. This new one is a serious compromise in 911 DNA but I understand Porsche has to deal with very intrusive Government overreaching standards in air quality.
It's a shame but it is what it is.
You are forgetting that the old GTS looked the same as the base Carrera with sport design package. Now you have a huge visual and mechanical differentiation from the base Carrera
"I love turbo lag.", said no real car enthusiast ever. 😆
I don’t love turbo lag. Thanks
Nobody wants turbo lag. Is dangerous. But this is a new hybrid version, so pairing that with a full digital display makes sense. It’s the future and a new style. If you want a real tachometer, buy a car that is older where the taco is actually connected to the engine instead of some simulated movement.
Idk bruh. Without turbo lag I would have crashed a couple weeks ago. I gassed it and right before it spooled completely the car in front of me changed lanes. If I had an EV I would of crashed. Just another angle of seeing things.
lol. What car has the tach actually connected to the engine? Rather than a simulated movement, Whatever that means.
Well, get a manual and no turbo leg *Guess what, now manual with the new one 🤔
@@G82Watts an ev could have detected the the crash and stopped automatically. And you could have been going any speed and a car still pulls out on you causing a crash. There would also be more moments where you need to avoid a crash and the lag wouldn’t put down the power in time.
@@JayCrash450 I think I was thinking of speedos that are connected directly from the engine to the the dash. In any case if your running info through a computer to move a needle that’s a simulation. It’s not a direct electronic or mechanical connection that moves a dial. If you want something analog, there’s plenty of old cars to do that.
i never seen ur hair before untill today lmao
Bro whats with u weirdos. Talk about the car
997 and 991 are looking more desirable by the minute imo. These 992's are absolute units in real life and they look great. But more as a track monster than an elegant everyday sportscar which happens to be bloody quick. That's the charm of the older 911's
I like the new look.. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Also don't understand why anyone would want to preserve turbolag, and your reasoning makes no sense IMHO.
You're right, we should just bring back the original '90s 911 Chassis. That one looked the best.
Big miss by Bembli on the exterior. The 992.1 looked too friendly, the 992.2 finally looks menacing and muscular. It's sticking to the cold and cutting look which to me is amazing.
same for me
The start/stop button should be red so it stands out on the sea of black everything
Spot on about turbo lag. Old lotus was great fun
The 992.2 Carrera T will be a tuner’s wet dream with those GTS turbos and the Turbo intercooler. A Stage 1 remap that adds 200 horsepower, anyone? :)
Voting warranty
Carrera T is a pointless stupid car. The gearbox is lacking, it’s just a base carrera with manual as an option. Should not be 10k more
@@SparklingWalrus and it has the LSD too. But it’s more of a Porsche gimmick to unlock premium options for the base 911
@@SparklingWalrus In fact, the T is the hotspot of the 911 series. It is not a basic Carrera, but has a mechanical limited slip differential on the rear axle, for example.
@@1q2w3e4r5t6zism it’s still a pointless car. Just include that in the base carrera configuration and boom problem solved. No need to make the same fucking car and make it 10k more. Fuck the T, and fuck Porsche’s sales tactics. A limited slip differential should be standard lmfao or at no extra cost
the outside looks sick but the inside…….like the ignition turn on the left was my fav quirk.
Once again I totally agree with your opinion. The Grills are too much and the Gauges lack Character...
What a refreshing change to see an objective and reasoned view rather than the grovelling encomia from our British and Euro reviewers
They aren't wrong tho. The car itself might be brilliant. The look is what is sketchy
@@0LLy796 well every 911 looks like some beefed up vollkswagen beetle theyve never been good looking
@@dddd-uk4vn That's where you're wrong. They've always been good looking which is why a lot of people don't like it (not ugly now but still not as pretty as the previous gen imho)
I know right
@@dddd-uk4vn "never been good looking" to you. They've always been fairly attractive and quite in offensive to look at. Something about how this looks tho seems off. Like it's in the uncanny valley where you know something is off but you don't know what exactly is
wow the new bembli facelift looks nice, love the hatless look.
I really like the new grille. Now the front matches the rear vents over the engine. It looks visually balanced.
The front looks like they wanted to add some Lambo bits.
'You either die a hero, or live long enough to become the villain'
Agree with your comments. Facts on PDK incorrect, not going from 7 speed pdk to 8, the 992.1 also have 8 speed pdk.
Still looks good
The front bumper intakes reminds me of the new g wagon front bumper
Me as well, at some point I saw someone say it looks like Mercedes set a trend with those vents after the new cullinan and 911 were revealed to have them
I really like the new design. The main problem with this car is the 100k € over the right price
I've never seen Bembli without a hat...👀
Feels like the interior gripes with the car are just the typa stiff someone says when they don't want change. One or more of the variants of the pre facelift already had a push to start button. And as for the tachometer, theyve gone digital. That's not a big enough concern. The front of the car does look off tho. The vents aren't ideal
Hats off to the new look!!! Nice to see you without the cap
You make some valid points but I disagree with you on a lot of it. I love the new look and I am also for the hybrid system that is similar to that in the La Ferrari.
Why get rid of the analog tach not the analog chronograph first, please Porsche don’t make the same mistake as BMW these past few years
Cost cutting on a premium product but still increase the price? Pure arrogance
Finally they’ve fixed the weird angles of the 992. It doesn’t even need the sport design package anymore to make it look good.
Though I agree it is less clean, I think the new styling adds an aggressiveness I find quite surprising for a Porsche. The new daytime running lights remind me of fangs and I think it is a cool evolution of the 4 dot-pattern
I have left this video when he said 8 speed replacing the 7 speed PDK….
I don’t know why I don’t like the fact that the removed the analog rev counter because I haven’t seen this cars before in my life
Just a note before even watching, They also ruined the rear, idk what they actually changed but even the rear is off now. Why fix a perfect 992 if it was never broken? They could have been selling those for 10 more years and no one in the world would have complained. Seriously, was there anything wrong with the beautiful 992? : (
I’m not a fan of the vents on the back of the car, looks too me busy to me but I understand that it may be hard for brands to make a GT trim look understated while also making it look aggressive
The old one was way off. The license plate placement in both configurations was horrible on the .1
The rear exhaust setup reminds me of the 2018 GT3 RS turned to 11
💯 hard pass on the 992.2 GTS for more than a few reasons. Disappointed that Porsche didn’t disclose information on the 992.2 Carrera T, or Carrera S specifics
I tried the configurator, and not a fan of the front bumper of sport design package on the carrera. 992 is so much better
IMHO, the last pretty and organic looking 911 was the 991.1. Starting with the 992, the Porsche/VW Group designers start using straight line shapes (front vents, etc), and it seems to have just snowballed from there. It's honestly a shame because I've loved Porsche designs since I was a little boy back in the 1980s and have owned multiple models through the years.
„Newer isn’t always better“ - „It has no turbo lag, however I love turbo lag“
Your totally concur with your remarks , good points
The active flaps would look much better if they were horizontal
Why don't they just poll 911 owners what they want it to look like. Porsche is afraid of them.
Thanks a bunch dude! Watching your video helped me solidify my choice. I was going to purchase a build slot allocation for 2025 911 Carrera base model with some options.. the thing that truly makes it a Porsche is its iconic body shape, the left sided key ignition, the timeless pieces making a point to classic analog watches (Like the Sport Chrono) I think its just better to get a CPO 992.1 with most options on it and buy the aerokit myself and have it installed to look how i want it to. Porsche really needs to reconsider their designs for this 992.2 and stick true to what we like the most.
I turned off your video and blocked you as soon as you said you prefer turbo lag because it makes a better driving experience 😂. I guess there is a reason why you’re making UA-cam videos about cars and not actually designing real cars.
You're exactly right about the turbo lag experience
When it comes to fine wine. I agree 100%
So let me get this right they upped the CV to 3.6 from 3 but that makes it more economical?
Did he drive the car ? Did he see the car ?
I think the next 911 will have triangular headlights. Like this new stuff they put on the rear of the Cooper.
I'm trying to understand why someone would want a digital tachometer. It is like buying a smartwatch, just to know the time.
I played around in the configuration a bit and think that the Carrera with the aero kit looks so much better than the gts and they did a better job redisinging the Carrera than the gts
Porsche couldn’t left well enough alone with the 911
The removal of the analog tach is such a mistake
Can't wait for a M3P vs video
5:33 did Porsche forget about their iconic le mans start key position?
in my opinion, the car is way better now. looks great
Why did they make the grille shutters so prominent and not have them behind a mesh cover?! It’s not like Porsche invented the shutters and need to put them on full display like that.
100%.
Unpopular opinion but I love digital gages, way more customizable and it just looks cleaner imo
Car enthusiasts don't like change.
There i said it.
Yeah but there's a reason high end cars still have analog gauges, they just feel cooler and more premium.
@@DodgerFloof Even rolls Royce is slowly getting rid of them
@@DodgerFloof and u know what else has analog gages a base chevy trax, so no it doesnt feel more premium to me
@@Carfan678 okay and it also has a steering wheel lmao, doesn't mean steering wheels can't feel more premium in different cars... btw a Hyundai Elantra also has a digital dash, it looks cheap because it is cheap. it's an excuse for automakers to spend less money actually designing gauges.
Also no, rolls Royce is not getting rid of their analog gauges anytime soon for the same reason they're not getting rid of the analog clock...
I dont like the new front bumper, But the way they integrated the hybrid system is really interesting, its completely non invasive in the traditional hybrid sense, and is only there to enhance the gas engine experience and help with some of the “short comings” like turbo lag & instant torque
I like the look of the active shutters, but they shoulda left the led indicators.
I also completely agree with you. I also think the Taycan and Macan updates both look worse. The designers seem to be forcing in "hard angles" randomly as you mention and it doesn't look porsche anymore :(
9:20 this man has never met my girlfriend 😅😂
I agree COMPLETELY. Interior - dashboard + front and back are worse. Looks like cost cutting
The new one is better in every way
Some people just can't accept progression
I like the push start button. Its better than the fake inserted fixed key that you must turn. Ether a button or a real key but not a strange thing in the middle that is fake.
The airvents look so much cheaper in the new one. Interesting detail I noticed.
Only thing i hate about the interior is that there is no analog rev counter and the start stop twist other than that its the same
Some want turbo lag, some don’t. You can’t make everyone happy. I am happy the lag is gone.
the huracan successor: great car
aventador succesor : great design however i could still pick and aventador
911 facelift: no no this is bad
make it make sense my g
I like the new cluster. The mix of analog and digital cluster look a bit akward.
The exterior changes are basically neutral, not better, not worse. The interior is decidedly worse with some important Porsche signifiers gone for the sake of saving a few bucks. The people who make these decisions are often not car enthusiasts themselves and are promoted based on their track record of delivering bottom line results. I guarantee you there will be strong customer backlash.
Out of the whole review, two words hit the nail on the head, “too complexed” unfortunately many brands lost that beauty through the simplicity and became “too complexed”. Speaking from 992.1 owner, on one hand, I am annoyed that I received my C2 3 months ago only to find out a facelift few months later however on the other hand, I do love some of the features in my 992.1 that has now been replaced in in 992.2.
I’d like to see a better integrated screen like in the 991.2’s. Everything is easier on reach. Also I won’t own a Porsche without a manual transmission. Has a 992 Turbo s and hated it. Now I have 2 Targa GTS’s. A 992 and 991.2 both 7m’s.
Is the pure speed video never coming? I appreciate you reviewing the Porsche but would really enjoy seeing the Mercedes video you said you’d make after communicating you weren’t going to first
Getting rid of the analog dials seems like a cost cutting move. Not a fan either.
Those active vents just reminded me of an armadillo..
Gives 2 shakes of a damn with any of the negativity here…will upgrade next year.
i love the look of the new intakes
I really like this new refresh, it looks more like the 991.1 and I really liked that version of the 911
