JB. would you like to test Lawn Mower engines? B&S, Kohler, Hon da, or Kawasaki. I prefer USA but ? Fuel is also a great research project...
@@stevelieberwirth3325 I like these ideas Steve!
I’ve personally had terrible luck with the BG86 in a commercial setting long term. Within less than 2 years it’s pretty much a pile of garbage. Something with the carbs I think, we have consistent issues where they don’t run well after two years max and they never return to full ease or reliability. We just switched to the Echo for the first time ever this month and hoping to get many much easier years out of them!
@@aaronfrench8322 appreciate you sharing this with the community Aaron!
I have the Echo 2520, which I think is a more residential version of the 2620 -- made without a more comfortable handle and other features that would allow longer use. However, I believe the engine and output of the blower are essentially the same. I've had the blower a year and, well, it works. GREAT. FAR better than an old Sears 2 cycle blower I had in the '90s. That thing was heavy and didn't have a great deal of output. In fact, I wondered why people wanted gas blowers at all, other than the cordless feature (those were the days before battery tools -- at least, before DECENT battery tools). But my Echo, other than the fact that it is pretty loud, allows me to go anywhere and get most any blowing job I need done. After mowing with my older, commercial 2-cycle mower with a heavy steel deck, carrying the Echo blower around isn't easy. I have to switch hands a lot. And there IS vibration. I'm sure the Stihl has similar issues. But I've found Echo tools function better overall -- easier starting, etc. -- than Stihl. Plus, the Echo warranty for consumers is far better. If you're a commercial operator and working with a dealer, get the one with the best local dealer support, but for homeowners, Echo is the no-brainer answer.
Spot on Scott! Thanks for watching and sharing
I've seen reviews that claim the 2620 has a more robust head (made out of different materials) and it has two piston rings instead of one. That may not make it better but you can brag about it.
My local home depot was getting rid off of gas powered equipment and Echo blower was at $189, now is $240 or so. Imo Sthil is better purchase in the long run with that washable filter.
Thanks for the showdown!
I heard something that by 2028 Home Depot won’t sell anymore gas stuff! 👎 that washable air filter is a nice feature! Take care Carlos! 👍
Yeah, I would go easy with that "washable air filter" option. You can do damage to the paper media and not know it.
It wasn't pointed out but 2620 has a foam pre-filter and then a paper filter. I wouldn't be surprised to find out the foam filter was washable.
Excellent video. I purchased this same model Echo a couple of months ago. I looked at the same Stihl model as well. I decided on the Echo mainly because of the cfm, the steel ring in the tube and me being left handed. I do use my right hand sometimes to blow. I get what you mean about pulling on your clothes, but I will say the way it's designed there's no effect on performance. I also want to mention, I agree with you that cfm is more important than wind speed, like you mentioned in a previous video. Carry on with great videos good sir 👍
Hey Z2! Appreciate you sharing this info and your thoughts! Definitely a good choice with echo! Both are great just different in their own ways! Thanks for watching!
I'm wrong handed too so the Echo is what I decided to ...B U Y.
Yup, I've learned my lesson well!! I'm looking forward to it as I have 1 more round with the lime and that's it for this year. Thanks for the echo tip!
Thanks for watching John!
I’d definitely go with the Stihl JB. The anti vibration technology, for me, is a great feature. Really nice comparison too. They are both great machines and quality products. Great video JB! I think Fall is finally here. Enjoy the weekend my friend!
For many out there that anti vibration feature is absolutely huge! Both great machines tho! How ya feeling lately? We’ll be snowblowing before you know it!
I have the 2620. And I absolutely love it great product.
Thanks for sharing outdoor stuff! Loads of power in that handheld! 👍
Great breakdown. You already know I have the Echo. The steel ring on the end of the pipe is a great, often overlooked feature for durability.
Hey Smallblock that metal bumper is definitely an overlooked feature! Appreciate the positive feedback as always my friend! Have a good weekend!
I appreciate so very much the research and experimentation JB has done to share these facts with us about both leaf blowing machines. Saturday AM with JB has become a ritual for me. One for which I remain very grateful learning as I do from my Garage Gear Guru. Always an easy LIKE for me!
Hey Joe! We’re gonna keep that ritual going! Plenty more content to come! Loads of snowblower stuff coming soon! Stay tuned my friend! 👍
Im watching the video to compare Styl blowers vs the competition.
I'll be in the market for the BG 86 next fall because of my Father's Styl. His is 15 years old and just had the primer replaced. Thats the only thing that's been done to it other than tuneups every now and then.
Can’t go wrong with stihl! Thanks for watching!
Great comparison! Have a great weekend buddy! 🤜💥🤛
Thanks brother! Finally got better weather and some rain around here to use that fertilizer I won last summer. Worked well! 👍👍definitely darker than all my neighbors!
I am a proud Stihl man! Just bought a 86 blower and i love it. Have a stihl 400 backpack blower for over 20 years and it still cranks and runs perfect.
@@bryonkennedy1863 can’t beat em! 👍
I just bought a Stihl BG 86!
Can’t go wrong with it! 👍
You're welcome & keep em coming!!
You got it my friend! 👍
Echo PB-2620 for me, have been using Echo blowers for many years now (along with their trimmers), and I can't really complain about their reliability, power, etc. I will admit that some of the features of the Stihl blower are interesting. I'd certainly consider buying one of my Echo dies for some reason.
Thanks for sharing andy!
Wish you would have weighted some of the ratings. The location of the air intake for me is huge - I hate the fan sucking on my leg. Also the Stihl anti vibration system is a really big deal. The air filters? Eh… it’s a blower. You might replace or clean it every 5 years or so. In my experience they just don’t get dirty like a mowers filter does. Weight? Hard to give a win when they’re that close. With full fuel, the echo probably weighs more. Overall really good comparison, just would love to see some emphasis on practical items.
Thanks for watching
Good advice I prefer the echo have always treated me well
Can’t go wrong with them! 👍👍
Thanks for the comparison. Excellent presentation as always. I ordered the Echo. I’ve had a great experience with my Echo string trimmer, and backpack blower. Just keep up on the preventative maintenance.👍🏻
You got it eagle! Thanks for watching
SO many joke opportunities in this video...
But, JB...your point about how most people hold leaf blowers in their right hand (4:20) reveals another interesting design advantage of the Stihl vs. the Echo (in addition to the pants-sucking issue)... The fact that Stihl put the pull-start cord on the left side of the unit makes it easier for right handers to start the blower without having to switch hands! Little things like that can make a big difference to many users.
Oh trust me Mace! I really held back on this one lol! I do have a short in the works coming out soon called … things you can say about your mower but not your partner… and go….
Great point about the left handed start! Didn’t think of that! You Rock! 👍
Switch to your left hand for holding the blower, works for me.
Thanks for watching jd
This was a great comparison. I enjoy the humor you add to it. Have a great day, JB.
Appreciate you salmom! Have an awesome weekend! 👍
THANK YOU FOR THE VIDEO
You got it my friend!
I got the 2620 six months ago and I really like it.
Can’t go wrong with it! Thanks of sharing Eric!
Oddly enough with my limited experience, I think leaf blower is the one thing I’ll go electric on 😂
Granted I’m just doing my driveway and patio. No heavy leaf cleanups
Seems reasonable. Right tool for the job 👍
Which one do you have?
Hey rover! If you have a big yard and lots of leaves you’ll need a gas blower. Small property/area like what you have go electric. Thanks for watching!
I like my Stihl 56C-E $179 at ACE, that baby has a CFM of 412 and blows 134 mph, for me CFM is what counts. I just use it as a homeowner. Thanks for the vid JB! :)
You got it Jan the man! Thanks for watching!
I like both brands and actually have both of these but have a preference to the echo brand.
Both are great blowers! Thanks for watching!
Great breakdown JB. I have both and they both work well. Great video. Have a bless weekend 👍🙏👍🙏
Hey Ray! Awesome that you have both! Best of both worlds! You could probably create a tornado if you ran both at the same time! Have a bless weekend as well my friend!
STIHL BG86C all the way. I have one plus I love how the starter is on the left side and the fan is on the right side. Because I’m right handed so the STIHL is more easily for me to use.
Awesome thanks for sharing corvette
I have both blowers only my Stihl is the SH86 (BG86 with the vac kit) and The Shindaiwa EB262 (Same as the Echo 2620). Both are great blowers. I use the SH86 only in vac made. It has surprised me as too how well it does in sucking up leaves. Definitely not meant for large amounts but it's great for leaves in window wells and under bushes. The EB262 is easy to start, has a useful handle, and is a little stronger. It's been great too. Either one is a good choice. Keep in mind that the Echo/Shindaiwa is usually a little cheaper than the Stihl and you can often get it for 15% off during Fleet Week or Fleet Day.
Great information here Joe thanks for sharing! 👍
One thing on your video I noticed is the bg 86 on side next to the pull cord they should have put the little square to clean spark arrestor screen and you have to take the entire cover off
@@NickSpires09 I think it is right on the front. Should be able to access it from there.
@@GarageGear thank you I have a bg50 and it has a square for the arrestor screen
Do think you could do a review on the stihl bg50 I would like to know what you think about it love my bg50 along with my Troy bilt xp mower what do you think of Troy bilt I think it’s a pretty good company
@@NickSpires09 I just may have to give it a shot this fall! The older troy bilt mowers used to be a lot better. Solid metal. The new ones today are 50% plastic. They cut fine and get the job done but the build quality isn’t there anymore. Most people that own Troy bolts today seem to be pleased with them.
Do a shred vac comparison
Perhaps we’ll see one in the future!
Great video.I have an Echo and really like it. Never had a problem after 4 years. Echo's are less expensive in Canada.
Echos are very reliable! Thanks for sharing Barry! 👍
I made this choice eight years ago and went with an Echo. Consistency in starting is the most important factor for me.
They start right up! 👍👍
Both great leaf blowers, I prefer my Husqvarna backpack blower!
Those are good blowers too Tim! Thanks for watching!
;I have both and I like the Echo better
Thanks for sharing Gary!
I just bought a used Sthil BG 86 and the other cool thing about it , that it has the elasostart pull start grip !
Nice Bryan! Thanks for sharing
Was the weight comparison done with full tanks of gas?
These were so close it’s only about a pound added to each.
I won't have loose cloths on, but not sure why Echo thinks most people are left handed. Or maybe there is some other reason why they put the intake on the left side.
Thanks for sharing
I have both of these blowers and both are very good. The Stihl is much more ergonomic and comfortable to use for a longer time. The Echo moves more air and will move more material.
💯agree
I have Stihl, my father in law has the Echo. Both work great, can't go wrong with either one.
Right On! Thanks for watching!
I only have the BG50. I use it all the time and beat the hell out of it. Leaves, acorns, snow and dirty garage. Always use good gas/oil and store all other Stihl's with canned gas. Very little maintenance and all run great.
Those are great blowers too Doug! Thanks for sharing!
I ordered the pb-2620 because I've had good luck with Echo products, and it went on sale for this weekend.
Excellent deal!
What price did you get it for? I’m looking for a sale currently 😂
Stihl all day. Had a echo and the cord broke on me with little use
Thanks for sharing Kanye!
What sold me on the Echo PB-2620 is it's advertized chrome plated cylinder wall which apparently Stihl does not or at least doesn't advertize this additional feature. The chrome plating which isn't found on their cheaper model should make this Echo unit more durable.
I would agree my friend! 👍
Team Echo! #1
You got it! 👍
One of each, that’s what I have
Awesome brad! Thanks for sharing!
Stihl. I like to use the same brand to avoid multiple oil/fuel ratios on equipment
Thanks for sharing jlb! 👍
Hey JB you ever use a backpack blower?
All the time! Got a review coming out on one next week! Stay tuned! 👍
@@GarageGear looking forward to it. God Bless you my friend!!
You have to give the redmax handheld a try
That would be a fun one! Thanks for watching MTB!
Yep, Hit the ground at least once EVERY TIME! LOL
Glad to know I’m not alone here! Have a good week Flint! 👍
Could you do some vids on husqvarna equipment and see how they compare? I have 130l trimmer so far its great
I could do some of those in the future. Thanks for watching Connor!
5:24 I just bought the Echo 2620 is the max speed of 172 vs the Stihl at 190 a noticeable difference?
Not really a noticeable difference
Stihl for me!
Stihl has a commanding lead here! Thanks for watching Joseph!
Just bought an echo, best machines ever!
ROCK ON my friend! Great blower!
What about the weight which one's heavier
Hey Dc! That was covered in the video. Echo 9.8 pounds. Stihl 9.9.
I have a sthil big 50 that I had since 2020 and when the engine is cold and I pull the recoil like 5 times at least
Thanks for sharing clarinet!
He rushed past the "make sure she's on," part very quickly....but the on/off switch design is a big deal in my opinion. The spring-assisted "always on" switch is far, far better than the switch that you have to remember to move, or keep, in the on position.
Thanks for watching
Can you buy washable filters for machines that don't come with them originally?
That’s a great question! I’ll have to look into this!
stihl all the way
Stihl is in the lead now! Lol! Thanks for watching Michael!
Hey JB, have you done a video on lawn spreaders? I need a new one and what I'm reading isn't encouraging. My lawn is about 6500sq. ft. on one side and 3500 on the house side, just thought I'd mention square footage. Thanks, and rock on.
Hey John I will probably do one in the spring sometime! I know echo makes one that’s gotten some good reviews in the past! May want to give the one a look. Stay away from those Scott’s spreaders! Lol!
I’m going STIHL!
Thanks for sharing
Stihl, great machine.
Stihl has a good lead here lol! Thanks for watching Dennis!
Echo for sure.
They make a great leaf blower!
It’s 444 cfm for the STIHL with round tube. Ignoring my comment from last video 😅
Hey Delbert where did you find 444? On their website it says 365🤔
@@GarageGear Ace hardware’s website
@@zsmizzy hmm sounds like I’ll have to do some CFM testing 🤔👍
Hi JB.... Have you ever tried Makita or Hatachi leaf blowers ? Thanks !! Paul
@@paulb2769 hey Paul no I have not. Never see them in my area.
The main problem I have with Stihl is the fact that they’re cutting costs on inner parts of their engines. Most small 2 stroke engines use needle bearings, but Stihl has a tendency to use bronze bushings instead, and those won’t last as long as a needle bearing
This is good information here BCSERK! Thanks for sharing this! 👍👍
We've had a Stihl BG86c for over 10 years and use it atleast once a week and it's still going strong
I put mine in the back of a truck with the throttle on full. Birds hate it...
Thanks for watching Steve lol!
It’s not like imma be putting down my blower less money in my pocket and more gas echo for the win plus 5yr warranty can’t beat that
Thanks for watching Miguel!
what happen with the echo shred and vac make a review on that one any one can blow leaves.
Thanks for watching
cfm is king
Sure is!
Sthil.
Thanks for watching justin
STIHL all the way
Thanks for watching Sherman
I have had both. Sorry Stihl. Echo is the better blower hands down, in my opinion.
Thanks for watching William!
Good fair review. I own sthil chainsaw; plan on purchasing a sthil trimmer. My point? Echo makes the best blowers! Everything else? Sthil is #1. Did anyone notice no visible smoke from either machine? That says a lot for quality.
I wish you could tour the factory where Echo Plant. Then Stihls plant.
That would be a lot of fun to do! Probably learn a lot about their company too!
Ya stihl won this one
Thanks for watching Ray!
Echo all the way! Stihl is over rated.
Echo makes some great stuff! Thanks for watching Randal!
Screw the echo. Stihl is always the winner in my eyes
@@jacobditmer1369it’s not I’ve had both the stihl will start to go wrong after 2 years

I'll take the STIHL it don't suck your pants!
Unless you're a lefty like me😐
