      @@ArtisOpus Awesome, I really look forward to checking it out. Your use of toned pre-shading is really inspiring to me. I have only just returned to the hobby and I have been focusing mostly on trying to get down interesting colour schemes before moving on to more intricate techniques. Pre-shading will likely be my next hurdle and I will admit that I have yet to see such a simple yet brilliant tip as defining warm and cool pre-shading. It will still take me a long time to reach this level though :)

    When I started painting I saw many people talk about dry brushing as a way to save time, but one that ultimately took away from the model in comparison to other ways of highlighting or texturing. It seems more and more that they were not aware of how to mitigate issue of texture buildup/flaking, and the time saved is the real deal. Thanks for helping to make high level results so accessible for people!

    • @Siege181
      @Siege181 4 роки тому +2

      To be honest mate, I started using the AO dampening pad with makeup brushes a few months ago. The dampening pad helps to keep moisture at just the right consistency. I then indulged myself to a set of the series D recently and haven’t looked back! You get so much more control and consistency with the AO brushes, they are DEFINITELY worth the investment! Just make sure you follow the cleaning instructions and they will last far longer than any makeup brush. Plus it means no more pretending the Primark makeup brushes are for my wife.... :D

    • @S2uBuGaming

    • @Siege181
      @Siege181 4 роки тому +2

      Greig Pil to be honest I only use the AO cleaner for my series D’s as you leave the cleaner in overnight then “flick” it out gently next morning. If you are investing in any of the AO series Ds I’d recommend the AO cleaner just to make sure you keep it in optimum condition! Oh and I would SERIOUSLY advise getting at least the small texture pallet, really helps with the control of the paint of the brushes!

    That result is hard to argue with for 90minutes work, looks really impressive, for the weapons my first instinct would be to properly rust them all over, I'd probably just run a pencil round the edges of the blade for the metallic effect and coat the rest with a rust finish for guaranteed tetanus, but having seen the flesh, I don't know if that would mesh well with the rest of the model

    Hey Artis Opus! Sent here by Kirioth, and absolutely loved this video, Puppa Nurgle will be very pleased!! I have done a very small amount of dry brushing with single colours before, but like Kirioths videos of using these brushes this is totally on another level. Love it, ill be watching many morr of these and giving it a go sometime soon!

    Kirioth sent me here and damn am I glad he did. Being fairly new to the hobby I've been used to the standard GW base, shade, highlight and would have never thought to approach a miniature like this. I will definitely be following this channel with great interest!

    Kiri send me over to this video. Hadn´t had the chance to watch it previously yet, but your tutorials have been so educational and interesting. Drybrushing hasn´t really been too much involved with my painting, but watching you do it... Mesmerising. Would love to have the chance to try your brushes sooner or later, maybe learn them together with my fiancee, who I´ve managed to talk into playing 40k with me once we get her atleast a combat patrol worth of Slaanesh Daemons painted. So yeah, definetly more tutorials for daemons. Would love her to get more into painting as layering and traditional edge highlights have put her off of painting, but learning to do it your way might just be the answer for some great hobbytime as a couple in the future! Cheers for the great work, keep at it!

      @ArtisOpus  4 роки тому +1

      Hey bud!
      I think it may well be helpful for her, especially with tutorials it's a bit more organic than layering, I've found that girls actually pic it up faster than guys, concepts of blending are way less alien if you've applied any type of makeup etc.

    Such a lovely paint job on a great model. I appreciate the dry brushing tutorials as they really do show how dry brushing can be utilized to make almost any project look amazing in the model painting hobby.

    I also came here because of Kirioth. I had seen your channel in the past when he first first started using your brushes and was curious about stippling as you rarely hear American painters mention the technique.

      @@ArtisOpus I'm a little late on this reply but I you don't have to link that. I bought the texture pallette, 2 brushes, and the dampening pad almost the moment I knew they became available. They just came in and I could not be more excited to use them

    Honestly Kirioth recommended this. And I do want to enter the competition. But I already love and watch all your videos, holding back on buying Artis opus series D because I have had horrible results with dry brushing. I love how you guys turn it around, dampening pad and texture pallette. Looks to be a game changer. And you guys look to be the only ones doing this. Keep breaking the mold guys and great work
